PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.

Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Who despises the Fogel Family already? Was I mis-seeing when he grabbed the girls clue right out of the box that she opened underwater, instead of getting his own? I know its a game and it's going to be a little cut throat, but what she said about him being some man of the cloth made me think not so good thoughts about him. Way to represent buddy Fogel.

Wasn't just Papa Fogal that did it. Kat decided to open her box underwater instead of taking it back to the boat, and one of the Air Force guys snatched her first clue, then when she did it again, Papa Fogal got her second one.

LAST EDITED ON 06-20-06 AT 04:02 PM (EST)I have to agree with you. I don't expect that they have to be nice to other racers, I don't expect them not to use mis-direction, I do expect them to take questionable shortcuts. But out and out stealing? Why talk about being religous if you are so ready to break God's commandments. Worse, does anyone really know what the treasure is? Imagine all sorts of unchristian actions only to find the treasure is worth just a few thosand dollars! That would not make the hunt a bad game for me, just the chance to go so many places on someone else's dime would make it worth my time. Not that more money makes thier actions right, just what that goes around comes around.

At the very least, you would expect they would be concerned for each other. The parents ignoring their daughter while she was crying in pain from hurting her hand showed just what kind of people they really are. Hopefully one of them won't slip off a cliff or be hit by a car while the others are trying to get a clue.

At least the Fogels didn't follow another team around trying to steal their combo like Billy Joe Jim Bob and his son, The village idiot tried to do to the Browns, after they wouldn't let them on their boat!! Granted it was a good strategic move not to take the last team, but they didn't have to yell "Goodbye clowns, I mean Browns!" as their boat left... THEN they follow the Browns around the island trying to steal their lockbox combo? Talk about karma!

I just rewatched the show. And watching the previews for future eps it sure looks like The Fogals are going to be the villains. The previews make it look like the other teams all distrust The Fogals and turn on them. It might have been misdirection. But it sure sounded like the other teams were referring to The Fogals.

LAST EDITED ON 06-28-06 AT 07:52 PM (EST)I almost have my doubts about whether or not these people are really what they say According to NBC.com here's the fathers bio: Age: 48 Occupation: Pastor Fave TV Show: The History Channel Fave Movies: The Sound of Music Fave Book: The Bible Hobbies: Hiking and reading Brad of Team Fogal Family lives in Orange County, California, has four grown children, and works as a pastor. He has been married to Margie for twenty-six years. After graduating from college, he obtained masters' degrees in both education and theology. Busy with life as an ordained minister, Brad loves people and enjoys serving his church. He likes preaching, reading, and various sports. He also likes to travel, although he prefers a more relaxed, conventional style than allowed for on the show. His original motivation for joining "Treasure Hunters" was to be with his wife and daughter and help them stay safe throughout the experience. I'm wondering what the church he works in (assuming he is working) is thinking of their pastor right about now. ETA: I see the answer is posted below. My bad for not reading the entire thread before posting.

Lying to other teams was simply dumb. They assured themselves of second place instead of having to fight with the 2 other teams. However, they knew many teams were already beaten and for that little trick, they cost themselves any chance of receiving help down the line. That is the kind of move you use if you're battling for last place or if it is the last leg. In leg # 3 = STUPID. Sure Romber used similar tactics throughout TAR 8 but which team was going to help them anyway!

Their actions might have been considered great game strategy if they had done it to just a couple random teams. But they did it to the very people that had stopped to help them earlier. It was like a slap in the face to the teams that had done nothing but be kind and helpful to them. People don't forget that.

Additionally, every time Rob finished a leg in first position he won a major prize. It was worth his while to burn bridges to other teams, not to mention as you already said those bridges were not worth much anyway.

I have no problem with playing dirty. But it really grinds my gears when a person professes to be one thing, and then acts, with no warning or disclaimer, another way.Unless the minister said something to the effect that "We're playing this game to win and we may not do things we would do normally", then it allows me to hate the hypocrisy. I have no problem with priests and ministers and such, and I think many of them (a vast majority good people) are overshadowed by the highlighted losers (Phelps, the Boston Priest Pedophilics, Fogels, although the Fogels are far less harmful than the prior two). I think this could be worse than the Weavers, mostly because while the Weavers were generally horrible, there was no one 'of the cloth', as it was put, in the group. Devout, hypocritical, people yes. But no one officially aligned with the order. This one though?
