syren 5418 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Playboy Centerfold" 06-20-06, 01:46 PM (EST) "Am I the only one?" Who despises the Fogel Family already? Was I mis-seeing when he grabbed the girls clue right out of the box that she opened underwater, instead of getting his own? I know its a game and it's going to be a little cut throat, but what she said about him being some man of the cloth made me think not so good thoughts about him. I don't expect that they have to be nice to other racers, I don't expect them not to use mis-direction, I do expect them to take questionable shortcuts. But out and out stealing? Why talk about being religous if you are so ready to break God's commandments. Worse, does anyone really know what the treasure is? Imagine all sorts of unchristian actions only to find the treasure is worth just a few thosand dollars! That would not make the hunt a bad game for me, just the chance to go so many places on someone else's dime would make it worth my time. But he would be honest about it, he would admit to tricking the other teams (atleast to him and his partner if not to the other teams), he would not be trying to make false claims to himsel and the camera about not being able to stop. He would never, never, never claim to be praying for the other teams and then pray only for his team. After the first 2-hr show several people from Pastor Brad's church jumped in on message boards to defend them. Pastor Brad had a show watching party and everyone watched together. Pastor Brad told them about all the bad editing and nothing was what it seemed. Then he gave them all T-shirts that said "I've Been Fogaled". None of the people really understood what the phrase meant till they saw lastnight's show. Now I'm not so sure they want to wear their T-shirts. Pastor Brad (who can't seem to keep his mouth shut about the season) put an apology on his website about how they acted. But he said everyone is all friends now and they prayed for forgiveness. (I think the other racers are showing better morals by being forgiving to them.) Lots of excuses and bad editing remarks. He had put alot on his website about the season, but it has now disappeared. He can't resist talking about it. Even though he is not suppose to. And the Fogal daughter was so upset she went crying to NBC about how they were portrayed. She said they have told her this was the worst episode and they will be portrayed in a more favourable light from now on. Why do I see a pattern here? Fogal daughter cries her thumb is broken. Paramedic checked it and said it wasn't. Fogal daughter cries she can't carry canoe. Others do it for her. Fogal daughter cries about bad editing and NBC says they will make it all better. Unlike TAR you gain nothing over the other teams by being first, other than getting more time to rest. No first place prize. No leaving before the other teams. No money to spend on extras (better hotel, clothing, extra with any spare time.) Nothing. There is virually no diffirence in what position you arrive at the final puzzle of the leg as long as you are not the last team to solve it. The Focals clearly needed help and it was offered, they could have milked the other teams for the next two or three legs if they had stayed nice. And why not? They knew the W.H. were sleeping and I think they already knew a team was ahead of them, so what did they gain by being in second place? They have no reason to screw over the other teams than a desire to screw over the other teams. Since there isn't any real advantage to being first or anything other than last what they've done is assure themselves that when an elimination round comes up, if there is a way for the other teams to help them be dead last, they will. I think we are seeing the result of a very poor analyst of the game. Mr. Fogal for some reason thinks this is TAR and he is Rob. The problems are; This is not TAR - lead times don't matter much. He is not Rob, who can talk three teams to quit a task and end up following behind him *WITHOUT* getting any of them more upset with him for doing this. (How did Rob do that?). But it really grinds my gears when a person professes to be one thing, and then acts, with no warning or disclaimer, another way. Unless the minister said something to the effect that "We're playing this game to win and we may not do things we would do normally", then it allows me to hate the hypocrisy. I have no problem with priests and ministers and such, and I think many of them (a vast majority good people) are overshadowed by the highlighted losers (Phelps, the Boston Priest Pedophilics, Fogels, although the Fogels are far less harmful than the prior two). I think this could be worse than the Weavers, mostly because while the Weavers were generally horrible, there was no one 'of the cloth', as it was put, in the group. Devout, hypocritical, people yes.
