Hey - we've got the room (thanks Webby!!!), so let's stretch out and have a new thresd each week for the lvoers. And, the haters can also have their own thresd.I want to go back to last week first. I've re-examined the tape and contrary to something posted on another thresd here I don't see any evidence that the Russian girl took the gun off of Jack. He leads her to the bedroom and tells her to get dressed. He comes back a couple of minutes later and she's zipping up her sweater. He brings her into the room and she lags behind him. Then you see her reaching into her sweater and pulling out the gun and shooting. My theory is that she's complicit with the guy and he just wanted to take her along. So, naturally there's a gun in the bedroom and she uses it to kill him to keep CTU from derailing the plans to release the nerve gas. Of course, we may never see her again and this may all be moot. On to tonight...Jack's gone soft. I understand that he makes field decisions contrary to orders often, but was the best plan to try to stop the release of the gas? Of course, he'll save the day eventually, and with loss of life, but was that really the best thing to do? Martha Logan went soft when facing Walt's wife. However, she resents being used in that way and will do something surprising in the next hour or two. And, do you get the feeling there could still be another mole in the White House? I don't know who it is, but Mike is starting to smell a little fishy. I sure hope it's not him, but who else is there? Martha's assistant? Maybe that makes more sense. I don't think we know anyone else well enough to care. You gotta think this cannister stuff won't be enough to keep us going for another 16 hours - what's next? 2002 IceCat Originals, Inc. LAST EDITED ON 02-14-06 AT 01:24 PM (EST)Sittem, Excellent points. I hadn't considered the possibility of another mole. I think Evelyn is more likely than Mike. She was just asking way tooooo many questions of Martha last night. Didn't I hear that Kim would be back this season (please, say it ain't so!)? And...the Chinese still needs to discover that Jack is really alive. Either (well, maybe not Kim) of those story lines will probably replace the canisters story line in the next 16 hours. Isn 't it interesting how Audrey had time to get fresh highlights in her hair between 1:50 and 2:00pm??

3. "Spoilers" |
First, I love the fact that the reason Logan's wife is named Martha is because her plot line is loosely based on Martha Mitchell (wife of former AG John Mitchell, who went public to confirm some of the corruption in the Nixon administration). Here's what we know from 24 spoilers about upcoming events (hidden for your protection): 1) There is at least one more mole in the US government. 2) Jack's former mentor has turned terrorist, and Jack has to torture his wife. 3) A corrupt Russian billionaire (is there any other kind?) shows up to murder the Russian President, who is leaving the White House. 4) Martha apparently gets herself hit by the Russian president's motorcade, to prevent him from going to his death. And, in the spoiler spirit, Fox has issued the following 24 press release, which isn't hidden, for the March 6 double episode -- BUT DON'T GO IF YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW!!! 24's CLOCK RACES ON WITH THE RETURN OF ELISHA CUTHBERT AND WILLIAM DEVANE AND THE ADDITION OF RAY WISE AND C. THOMAS HOWELL Two-Hour Event Airs Monday, March 6, on FOX Through seven sizzling hours of 24's fifth season, the series continues its amazing ratings performance and casting coups. Season five is outpacing last year's performance by +19% among Adults 18-49, +20% among Adults 18-34 and +16% in Total Viewers. Elisha Cuthbert and William Devane return, joined by newcomers C. Thomas Howell ("The Outsiders") and Ray Wise ("Good Night, And Good Luck") as "Day Five" intensifies. The nonstop season continues Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will clock in with a special two-hour event Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. In a day where he was implicated in the President's assassination, held hostage at the airport, and is following leads to terrorists armed with 20 canisters of military-grade nerve gas, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has had little time to put the pieces of his personal life back together. Recently reunited with former lover Audrey Raines (Kim Raver), Bauer enlists her help to reestablish communication with his daughter, Kim (Cuthbert). When Kim reenters Jack's life, she does so with her trusted friend Barry Landes (Howell), a therapist who attempts to simmer down a boiling situation. Meanwhile, leadership issues continue to tangle the Administration, and Vice President Hal Gardner (Wise) and Secretary of Defense James Heller (Devane) join the cause against the terrifying situation. The nonstop season accelerates with a special two-hour event, "Day 5: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM"/"Day 5: 6:00 PM-7:00 PM," airing Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Agent Bauer deals with Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), the defected federal agent who recruited Jack to counterterrorist work more than a decade ago, along with his wife Miriam (JoBeth Williams). The back-to-back episodes also feature President Logan (Gregory Itzin) muddling through more intense and iffy decisions while CTU commanders Lynn McGill (Sean Astin) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) redefine roles. 24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Joel Surnow, Robert Cochran, Howard Gordon, Evan Katz and Brian Grazer are the executive producers. Kiefer Sutherland is a co-executive producer.

LAST EDITED ON 02-14-06 AT 07:53 PM (EST)I don't like the idea of one thread for the lovers, one for the "haters". For one thing, it fosters an us vs. them attitude on the forums which can lead to trouble. Besides, how many of us can say we love or hate everything about an episode? ETA: I also think it could lead to duplicate posts, since people may feel they need to make the same post in multiple threads. Other fora have successfully had one thread to discuss an episode...I think we can do that here too.

6. "i agree with bebo" |
so i'm posting my boredom with this show here.granted, i've never watched any of the other seasons, but tuned in this go around to see what all the hype was about. it is morbidly disappointing. i think this week's episode was better than usual. until the jack did whatever he wanted and loused everything up, and the only character i find likeable (mrs. president) went all soft on me. guh. this show reminds me that people are unable to adequately perform in the 'scripted' realm these days. ~ cq
