6. "RE: OMH!!!" |
Sorry, I was kinda disappointed. How often do we have to see the old "there's a mole in the administration" plot line played out? I thought you guys were more creative than that. C'mon people, is the gov't that stupid? (rhetorical question). If I have to hear the word "protocol" one more time I'm going to bang my head against the wall. Note to writers, "It's a cool word but we don't need to hear it 20 times in an hour!" And why do all the workers at CTU bicker constantly? And why does Edgar still have a job, the whiny little grunt? And who's the new guy, sleeping with our Chloe? I'll bet he's the CTU Mole but we'll have to wait until episode 13 to figure that one out. Also, I feel sorry for Tony having to be at the CTU hospital instead of the real hospital. The mortality rate (qx for my By-Bro!) at the CTU hospital is 100%, the way I see it. I'm still watching cuz Surface isn't on tonight.

15. "RE: 24 " |
LAST EDITED ON 01-16-06 AT 06:16 PM (EST)flies - The Fox website for 24 has quite thorough summaries - they also have them for Prison Break and I've had to go there for both shows when I miss one. It's not like seeing it, but it's better than nothing. 8:45 A.M. Logan tells his wife that Palmer was killed by an unstable, ex-CTU agent and there was no conspiracy as she claimed. He plays a tape of the call from the previous night. The audio is of Palmer asking Martha to attend a charity dinner saying, “It’s hardly a matter of national security.” Martha is adamant that this is not the call. Logan says that her memory is affected because she is off her medication. Martha is distraught and he comforts her. Edgar alerts Buchanan and Audrey that their sources say that the summit is a target during the next fifteen minutes. This is when the Russian president lands at the retreat. 8:46 A.M. Nathanson’s men watch as Russian President Suvarov’s helicopter leaves the airbase and heads for the retreat. Nathanson orders them to go dark and cut off communication until after the strike. 8:48 A.M. Novick warns the President that CTU has confirmed that Suvarov’s helicopter is a target. Logan still refuses to postpone the summit. Novick suggests that they alter the transportation, but Logan wants the pageantry of Suvarov’s arrival to remain intact. 8:54 A.M. Jack pulls up at the airport and sees Diane. He apologizes to Derek for the way he’s been treated, and sends him to her. Diane is relieved, but demands to know what has happened. Jack gives up his real name and says that he lied about a lot of things. He sends them to CTU to see Buchanan. “Tell them the truth,” he says as he walks away. 8:56 A.M. Jack goes to the baggage claim area of the airport. Buchanan and his team watch as Suvarov lands safely in Marine One and is met by Logan at the retreat. “The intel must have been wrong,” he says. Nathanson watches on television as well and smiles to himself. 8:57 A.M. As Diane pulls out of the airport, Derek spots a group of men getting out of a van with bags and heading toward baggage. He knows that’s where Jack went and he senses that something is wrong. Derek runs out after them to warn Jack. Diane attempts to chase him, but the airport police make her move her car. 8:58 A.M. Jack finds Chevensky’s office and pulls his gun on the man, demanding to know why Palmer was killed. Nathanson’s men set off a bomb to explode their van. Jack hears the noise and looks into the hallway. As he steps away, Chevensky takes a poison pill. 8:59 A.M. The men fire machine guns into the air and kill the guards in the terminal. Derek is one of the hostages along with the other passengers. Jack sees the commotion from the hallway. “You will not be harmed as long as your President complies with our wishes,” one of the men announces. Chloe is lead into CTU in handcuffs. Cummings calls Nathanson. He reports that he altered Martha’s phone conversation before the President heard it. There is no longer any evidence that Palmer tried to warn her of the attack. Nathanson tells him that the terminal and the hostages are secured. The President will soon be notified of their demands.

16. "Favorite New Character" |
I think the show picked up the pace a bit last night. I'm liking it better now. My favorite new character is Jean Smart as Martha Logan. She may be whacked out but she know's somethings up and I think it will be interesting to see what kind of trouble she gets herself into. My least favorite new character is Sean Astin as the new division head of CTU. Totally stiff and unbelievable IMO. Who are everyone else's favorites?? Dominic Monaghan was able to rid himself of the big furry feet but I'm afraid Sean Astin will always be a hobbit to me. I can't seem to get past it which is really a shame. Rolly Sig Shop

>Who are everyone else's favorites?? Jack, obviously, because he rawks sooooo much. I knew there was something up with all that "Flank-2" stuff. I also really, really enjoy Chloe, ever since last season. Imagine my delight during the opening half-hour of Jack/Chloe stuff. I still haven't decided if I like Martha Logan yet, but I love her storyline. She seems a little frosty at times, but I can't help but root for her in a weird way. I enjoyed many of her scenes as she tried to get those archive transcripts. After reading a lot of mystery novels, I knew how this storyline would end. Person knows "something," isn't able to tell in time, gets whacked, and the murderer is found later. In this case she didn't get whacked, but we knew Walt was going to do something. I can't stand Pres. Logan still. I want the terrorists to lose and all, but I'm having trouble stomaching Logan. I have a lot of sympathy for Bill Buchanan, who has to deal with Logan's regular "Just fix it!" solutions. And he also has to deal with Lynn McGill now also. I really hope they don't dump BillMr. Buchanan completely, because I always liked him as CTU director. I thought it was nice that Lynn realized the Flank-2 code and shook hands with Bill in the end, but I still think the guy is a trouble. Edgar is being a little annoying too, but hopefully he'll save another nuclear facility soon. ...Oh, and it was nice to see Wayne Palmer come back too.

Jean Smart is a wonderful actress, and they're giving her fabulous lines. Can't wait to see what's in store for her.Not on board with the hobbit, sorry. Didn't help that they named him Lynn. I only know of one man who's been able to pull that name off well, and it took him years in the NFL to get credibility. Logan is such a dweebie, but I would have been disappointed if he suddenly grew a spine. His character, ahem, development makes sense given what a toadie he was last season. Sunday night's show ratings kicked butt, even though it was up against ratings juggernaut Desperate Housewives. It's going to be interesting to see how it did on its regular night.

23. "Wrong" |
It was just WRONG to have President Palmer lying on the floor in his apartment with his head in a pool of blood and then a cut to commercials and there's Dennis Hasbert advertising for Allstate! Couldn't they at least wait until hours 3 and 4 for Allstate to kick in?I love Mrs. Logan - I hope this story line keeps getting fleshed out. Chloe is great, but after reading articles on her I just giggle as she sits at her computer and I know she's just hitting keys randomly and hardly knows how to turn a computer on. I'm warming to Buchanon this season. Didn't care for him that much last year. Lynn at least redeemed himself during the episode, but it's hard to get past ME. I'm willing to give him some time now because he's going to be a central character. I'm anxious to see how his relationships at CTU work out. I thought Derek did a great job as an actor - the fear and all else he projected was great. At one point you can even see a booger up his right nostril - just a very visceral feeling last night. I liked how the initial crisis got wrapped up within the first four hours/first weekend. That was satisfying, though we know we still have 20 more hours of crisis to go. I'm lovin' it. 2002 IceCat Originals, Inc. All rights reserved.

Wow! Wow.wow.wow.wow.wow...I watched all 4 hours last night, and it was INTENSE! My absolute favorite line was when Jack told Darek that the only reason he's not unconscious is because he didn't feel like carrying him. Jack is BADA$$ Not surprised by the Palmer/ Dessler killings. It was pretty hard to watch the hostages get killed on live TV. And Martha/ Jean Smart. What a great comeback to television! Wow! Still have goose bumps from last night. Wow!

Won't it conflict, if he already plays the House Speaker in Commander In Chief? Are you thinking cross playing shows? Oh wait....CIC is ABC, while 24 is Fox. I doubt it.

39. "RE: Ep. 5- Chloe Rocks!!!!" |
>Best line of the night- Chloe >to Edgar- (paraphrase) >"After we find the nerve gas >and the threat level goes >down, I'll make some chamomile >tea and tell you all >my secrets." >I.heart.Chloe!!! I'm loving Chloe also. She's clearly relationally challenged - she was beating herself up after the confrontation with Spencer later, but then she goes to check on what he was looking at and she never had a second thought about what to do. Along this line - when Spencer and Chloe had their little interaction in the main section of CTU - I think it was when he walked away from there he made a one word response - yeah, or something. 12 hours removed from the show I can't even remember what it was, but it so reminded me of the same line uttered by Tony from time to time. Must be the same writer. I'm also loving the Martha Logan piece - I hope she ends up having a major role in all of this. I think I understand that Walt Cummings has been with Logan for a long time. I'm wondering if he has had an ongoing role in Martha's alledged "sickness". It would be a way of his controlling Logan at certain points in time. >I'm really enjoying the pace of >the show this season. It >seems like things are moving >quickly. They already discoverd the >CTU mole and that Walt >Cummings is involved. And >as much as I didn't >like Audrey last season- her >reunion with Jack was touching- >I think I like her >more now. Again, agree on the pacing - I thought it was smart to have a major resolve at the end of the first four hours. That gave the casual and first time viewer a reason to get hooked into the show. And, even if they decide to not dedicate an hour a week, they may still be back later. I just can't believe they can keep coming up with story line after story line. Each year some of these stretch credulity from time to time. 2002 IceCat Originals, Inc. All rights reserved.
Feel free to start a new thread next week for hours 6-10 or whatever - I don't usually get here quickly enough to do it and these threads get a little long over time

<Each year some of these stretch credulity from time to time.Change that statement to "all the time", and I'll agree with you. I get tickled sometimes when I consider how many people Jack has outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted in a day's time. It's also amusing to realize how many helicopter rides he's had, as well as visits to CTU within 24 hours. Even better - the guy never needs to eat, drink, or pee, yet he has endless energy. Ah well - suspension of disbelief so the good guys win is what 24 is all about, right? Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
