abcdefg 3 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 01-27-06, 11:28 PM (EST) "Tim Gunn" Where does Tim Gunn fit in the show? I do not think he has a say in the judging process at all. Atleast that is my impression. Despite the fact that he is the Director of the prestigious school, why should the contestants listen to him? If he has nothing to do with any of them staying or going then they should just tell him to take his opinion and piss off!!! Someone to give them advice, to check in on how they are doing emotionally and someone to get some artistic ideas from. Tim may not have input on who goes and who stays but he does know what the judges expect and fills the designers in on that. Whether a designer takes his advice or not is strictly their choice. "RE: Tim Gunn" He's their mother hen, an advocate in the trecnches who gives the advice the designers need to succeed in the contest. His delivery is great (to watch), albeit a little harsh at times. But the designers don't have a lot of time to waste, so it's good that Tim gets right to the point. I love him. He cracks me up. If he says something to one of the designers and they don't fix it, it's a sure bet that one of the judges will mention it. I also think that he knows the judges, and they can tell him if he needs to nudge people in a certain way. "RE: Tim Gunn" I also recall a few times the judges have mentioned certain designers not taking Tim's advice or certain things that they were doing or not doing. It is no secret that Nina does not care for Santino's design and it appears that MK is trying to figure out exactly who would purchase his designs. "RE: Tim Gunn" I think that Tim Gunn is important to the success of Project Runway. He helps keep designers on track. Designers sometimes get help from other designers, but it helps to have input from someone who they are not competing against. Tim also has an interesting blog at http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway_2/Episodes/Episode_9/Tims_Take/blog.shtml One of his comments about these designers in that blog was "They had been coasting and weren’t talking enough risks. It was as if each was saying, "I don’t care about winning; I just don’t want to be OUT." Accordingly, we bring in an incentive: IMMUNITY.
