Down to the final 3. Tonight the judges have picked the music for the pairs. The pair that receives the highest score advances to the final 2. The two remaining pairs will have to compete in a "skate-off".

Oh yess, he flew back from Turin to do this since there's a current lull in the skating over there.

LAST EDITED ON 02-13-06 AT 08:14 PM (EST)ahhh... so either Jillian isn't doing the axel that was landed, or KRISTY is the one who does it!!! I can't wait to find out. Here is what Yahoo TV Picks says: "Last week, Dave Coulier and his professional partner Nancy Kerrigan were voted out of the "Skating with Celebrities" competition -- leaving just three pairs: Jillian Barberie and John Zimmerman, Kristy Swanson and Lloyd Eisler and "sentimental favorites" Bruce Jenner and Tai Babilonia. Tonight, the competition heats up (naturally) and the pairs skate before judges Sir John Nicks, Mark Lund and Dorothy Hamill in order to avoid elimination. Soon, one of the celeb skaters actually attempts -- and lands -- an Axel jump (one of the hardest jumps in the figure skating lexicon). My money's on Barberie, considering she used to compete in skating as a teenager."

LAST EDITED ON 02-13-06 AT 08:21 PM (EST)Bruce & Tai skate second. It was nice, but not exciting. John Nicks pointed out that Tai does a lot of skating around Bruce. Mark Lund said that every pair should have a signature move that they do every time or almost every time. Which is odd, because he told Jillian & John that they should have done different moves. Once again, Dorothy did her Paula Abdul impression. And their score is 54.4

LAST EDITED ON 02-13-06 AT 08:33 PM (EST) I thought Kristy & Lloyd were amazing. Lvoed the program!
Dorothy said... well, we all know she gushed all over them, same as she does for everyone. Mark Lund was impressed. John Nicks liked Kristy's spirals, commented on the angle of her leg, and said it was a pity her partner couldn't do it as well. They received a 58, and on to the finals!

I don't know whether Kristy has come that far, but if Jillian lands it, I'm guessing it won't be very well. Yes, the axel is *generally* the hardest jump for most people, but good technique will get you to be able to do it faster than stupid attempts, which is what Jillian usually looks like she's doing. Also, Jillian's leg position on her toe loop last night was kind of lacking...if she can't do a toe loop, her axel position will likely be disaster - even if she manages to land it.Having said that, I think Lloyd and the choreographer are smarter than to let Kristy risk it. Jillian doesn't listen to her partner or her choreographer, so I would say she's more likely to do it. I really enjoyed watching Kristy and Lloyd last night. I do not (and have not) enjoyed watching Jillian and John. Jillian is the kind of skater that I would make run lap after lap until she got smart and stopped trying random crap that she shouldn't be doing. Kristy's lifts have been a lot harder than Jillian's. Jillian has done some harder spins, but she did them poorly. Sig by J Slice!
