SneakingSallythrougtheAlley 31 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Beauty Pageant Celebrity Judge" 06-30-06, 10:44 AM (EST) "I think the LCs cross the line too much" I really liked the premise of the show in the beginning but the life coaches tend to step into the area of psychology way too much in my opinion. Instead of getting these women to start over by helping them take steps too make real big changes too much time is spent reflecting on emotions and delving into issues that are really out of their realm. Ilyana bothers me the most imposing her philosophy which I don't buy into at all and I think she is too much into her showmanship to help anyone. I don't like the irresponsible manipulation of the emotions of the guests either and driving them to hysterics is really scary and abusive to me. They yell, they hug, they yell and ridicule and humiliate then they embrace. I find that a lot of crap honestly. I think the HG's often leave the SOH in far worse shape emotionally than the day they arrived. Especially, IMO, Allison. I wondered how she'd become such an emotionally needy conflama queen that she dreaded leaving the SOH. It's because the LC's made her so emotionally dependant on them and the other HG's. Any good Life Coach, or even pastoral counselor (spirituality based, and not psychology based therapy) who are any good are familiar with three important words: Refer It Out. Some of these HG's have issues WAyy beyond the scope of a reality TV show and their life coaches. Of course, Dr. Stan is in-house, and I am surprised that he is not more ever-present. Every now and then I would have hope that they realized that they couldn't deal with what was there. Like last season when they sent Karen to rehab. This season it just went out the window. It was for the viewing audience to ponder or discuss whether or not their would be another SOH. We are puzzled because we aren't fooled. Besides, I think there were women that came to the SOH that had Waaayyyy more deep seated psychosis than Niambi's depression. I'm convinced that Christina was Histrionic and/Or Borderline. Allison suffered from Narcissistic Personality Disorder or was Borderline, or both. ("I don't feel supported coming back from Houston, because they are talking about what happened last night, and not about MEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!") I would also settle for labelling the rest of them as "Spoiled Child Syndrome." And how! But, they pick on NIAMBI having DEPRESSION?! Not her low self esteem issues. Not her involvement with a married or taken man. Those weren't reasons to have her come back. Depression. And, TJ wasn't so much screwed up as screwed over, especially by Rhonda's encouraging her HM's gang mentality in several group exercizes and sessions. And, Kim could conceivably be said to have received the same treatment at one of Rhonda's inpromptu bull sessions. I just couldn't leave that out, much as I disliked Kim. She had problems, but she also had appropriate BOUNDARIES. She didn't learn them at the SOH. She was treated like she was a problem child when she voiced, "No, I am not comfortable with that" like pushing the father issue. (What is UP with THAT, anyway? Some men don't deserve to be tracked down by their beautiful children.) Antonia probably could've learned just as much from an older woman who wasn't afraid to tell her what was up. Did I think she was perfect? No. Antonia DEFINITELY had some "Me First" and lazy attitudes towards some exercises, but she was NOT the "problem child" that she was made out to be in COMPARISON to the OTHER women in the SOH.   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

She didn't put up much resistance to her exercizes. Jokingly complained about a few, but she'd grinningly bear it. And come out learning valuable lessons that will serve her well throughout life. For example they knew Allisham had a drinking problem. She herself admitted it and was ever so briefly confronted about it by Rhonda in group. That issue was ignored. They did however have someone come to the house to tell Allisham how she can avoid responsibility in her life once again by filing for bankruptcy. They needed to get in her face and make her face her problems by getting real experts in to deal with these ladies and then have the LC's reinforce and support the HG as they worked with true experts in the field that the ladies needed help with. I say true experts not just people from Agape Spiritual Center where both LC's go to church. I'll never forget Allison euphomistically calling herself a "wino" and trying to "explain" the difference between "winos" and alcoholics.
