Solo stuff - http://www.myspace.com/rstar With Stage - http://www.myspace.com/thisisstage ETA: Ladies, if you find Ryan dreamy or if you are "on the fence", you MUST listen to "Back of Your Car" (R.Star)/"Perfect Time of Night" (Stage). To get that full feeling that I get from him though, you must purchase "Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant". “Music has been my best friend my whole life, because music doesn’t betray you.” - Lukas Rossi

From August 12 Blog Entry: I guess I am officially the Rollercoaster character on the show. Ups and Downs. (snip) Vegas was insane. The other boys passed out by ten pm (seriously) and I partied through the night with Supernova. It was a blast and I am right back in the game. This week getting ready to sing a beautiful song called “In the Air Tonight” by one of my favorites Phil Collins. For one night it will be my song and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Please, please, please, please vote more. Tell your friends. I am doing my best here but I still need your help. Thanks for all the love. Ryan http://rockstar2006ryan.spaces.live.com/ Just so you all know, in case you don't already, they take note of all this stuff. Performance purchases, MSN searches, blog replies, everything. IF you have a favorite, keep that in mind.

heh. Last week, when Ryan was performing his bonus Wedesday night performance of "Enjoy the Silence", my husband said, "He looks like he wants to climb something and is pissed that he can't." I LOLed, said, "yeah. I'm sure they're not allowed to do that on this show," and pulled up this picture to show him. DH is smaht.

<speechless>LOVE these pics! I wish they'd show more of him smiling and laughing on the show, not just in the reality stuff online. Ryan has been my favorite the past 4 weeks, I'm just so over everyone else. I almost wish he weren't so good looking - I'm not sure I can survive another addicted-to-a-rockstar-hunk summer. Does he remind anyone else of JD? Not just his looks, but his intensity, and sincerity, and the way he seems to be the one taking this most seriously. <mouth still gaping... lol>

I'm officially on board the Ryan bandwagon. *Smooches" and a big thanks to Glowie, as I finally listened to his 4 originals on his myspace. Wow, totally swoon-worthy songs. Loved Back of Your Car & Losing Your Memory the most, but all 4 were great.Ryan got my attention when he performed "Losing My Religion," he already showed us his brooding rocker side, but when he sat down at that piano and poured out that performance I was hooked. He has been holding strong ever since. "In the Air Tonight" was phenomenal, as well. I do have to say that, IMHO, he is too good for SN and if he won the gig, they would only drag him down. Thanks again, Glowie, you are da bomb in musical taste, among other things! Kind Creation of ARNutz

*snort* Please link something to back up your comments. It's really easy! Do like this:Star reveals that he uses his first and middle name, which was bestowed on him at birth by his brother and sister. He recalls, "They're like, 'We think he's going to be a singer. That's why we want it to be Star.' And, sure enough. It's really touching. I always say, 'Thanks for looking out.'" As for his real last name, Star says, "It's a long Russian name. It would take too long to print it. It works perfectly that I have a great middle name." Not that I care if it's his real name or not. I know at one point, when he played with Stage, it was Ryan Stahr. But come on, sweets. "Max Factor"? "Do their make-up"? Do you even know who you're talking about? And why are you talking about his penis? Not that I mind guessing whether or not he's been snipped and imagining it, mind you, if that's what we're talking about now. ouch. My brain is exploding. *yawn* It's exhausting.

It's the perfect time of night, To be losing your clothes now. Okay! If you carefully take them off, Then I'll carefully show you how. In a minute we'll be gone, So we might as well just #####. Okay! 'Cause the churches they're all filled, Empty prayers are out of luck. Woah, woah You're not yourself, your not yourself tonight. Woah, woah You've got your life, now get yourself in mine. Woah, woah You won't be sad, you won't be satisfied. Woah, woah It's the perfect time of night, To be losing your mind now. As the curtains finally fall, Will you kindly take your bow. So love our time, don't waste your life. It's the perfect time of night, To be losing your clothes. Woah, woah You're not yourself, you're not yourself tonight. Woah, woah You've got your life, now get yourself in mine. Woah, woah You won't be sad, but you won't be satisfied. Woah, woah Are you here? So much fear. It's the first time you need. It's the first time you bleed. I'll wait for you in the back of my car, Lets find out who you really are. I'll never change if you want me to, You better change if I ask you. So tell me what is the matter with this, They say it starts with just one kiss. We're never gonna be here again. Woah, woah You lost yourself, you lost yourself tonight. Woah, woah You've got your life, now get yourself in mine. Woah, woah You won't be sad, but you won't be satisfied If I ever see this song live (when I see this song live), I just have a feeling somebody will need to keep me from stripping off my clothes.

EVERYONE - Please do what Glow says. Ryan has a new blog post up, and it will really give you more insight into who he is and why he's here. (Can I post that link here?) http://rockstar2006ryan.spaces.live.com/ Also , I got an email from members of his former band Stage. I think it's awesome how much they support him. Here's some of what they said. *** "As the former members of the band Stage, we want to thank everyone for supporting Ryan from week to week as he continues to deliver some amazing performances on CBS's Rockstar Supernova. Every week he has continued to amaze the judges and, more importantly, the millions of people who watch. It is great to see our good friend doing well and watch the world discover a talent that we all know and love. Ryan is now one of six finalists left and he is in the company of some very talented people with loyal fanbases. We need your help to ensure that Ryan makes it through another week. As you know at the end of the show, fans get to vote for their favorite performers and you can vote as often as you like. ...(info on how to vote was here) If you're helping out Ryan every week.. LET THE PEOPLE AT STONE CROW RECORDS KNOW!! They will send you a link to where you can download a free song or two... just send an email to stonecrowrecords@gmail.com and tell him how much you have been helping." ***

A transcript of Ryan's exit interview:“I’m disappointed I’m booted off because I feel like I’m the best performer among all of these people. And the best songwriting, and all that stuff, so, I saw myself fronting Supernova, I saw them being a better band for it. With me as their singer they could have had, you know, a 20-year career. Without me, they won’t have 20 years; they might have 2 years. So, I said I’m sorry for that, meaning, sorry for you. And what I wanted to say was that I’ll see you on the charts and I’ll be looking down at you. *turns his head downward like looking down a list* “When Gilby Clark said I’m a better performer now than when I got here... unlike Jason, he didn’t do his research, because he’s never seen me play live before this. And if he did, he would never say that, because wait until he comes to my first live show after this and he’s gonna say “Oh, I get it now." “What’s next for Ryan Star is, I’m gonna go back to New York City and pursue my solo career. I’m going to probably right away record a live album and get it out as soon as possible. And just gonna get out there and be bigger than Supernova could ever imagine being.”

First off, whether he is the singer or someone else SuperNova will not be around for 20 years. The guys in the band are in the late 40's (?). SuperNova will not be around for more than 2 cds with him or with someone else. I am glad that he seemed to really want to be in this band. I do agree with his comments about Gilby....to a certain extent. They act like the first time the person ever performed was on this show, but SuperNova told Ryan he did not look like he was having fun and Ryan did take that advise. Ryan can not deny that if you watch his first couple performances and then watch his later ones that he changed. He let loose. In my opinion I think he needed to cap it a little. He should've known that he would be in a band....a band with seasoned veterans who by no way want to be upstaged by some young kid. The look on Gilby's face when Ryan climbed up on top of the speakers said it all. Ryan went a little too spaztic. All that being said Ryan should not of gone home before Storm. Next Tuesday's show will suffer for it. Ryan did go out a little cockier than he should've, but this is Rock N Roll and I have no problems with it.

He is very successful on his own. Now? he will be even more successful. I hate the way he went out. I really do. I don't blame that on him at all. Not.at.all. Arrogant? Sure. Bitter? Of course. I am certain that this is all backlash from the "Ryan hated the song" stuff spewed forth by Dilana because "it was a clinic" and "it's a competition". I wanted him there until the finale. I didn't want him to win. I wanted Lukas to win. It's frightening to me now knowing that he (Lukas) actually might get the job. But Ryan seemed to start to want to win, so I wanted it for him. I wanted those two duking it out gloriously on my television on September 13th. I'm finding it very difficult to be excited about it now. Sure, that may change in a few days when I think about what this whole thing really is. A publicity stunt. "The Tommy Lee Project". They make these amazing wonderful performers believe that this actually means something. Now don't get me wrong, I know the exposure they get from this show will further their careers and make the Stars that are shine a little brighter. It's already happening. We'll be seeing Lukas, Zayra and Ryan for a long long time. Man, they're spectacular. wow. And look. Just look at all the exposure Dilana is getting. Look at all the Storm fans. All the Toby fans. I'm fans of all of these people. I'm not alone in that. Not by a long shot. These fans that these people are gaining are so important. So I do thank Supernova for bringing them to us. Just, you know, ##### them. Screw them for trying to dull the shining light that is R.Star. My passion for him and for what he does indeed does come from somewhere. Please remember that. Remember that when you see his name climbing the charts. His music is intoxicating. His passion is mesmerizing. His voice and emotional delivery are awe-inspiring.In case you've ever been a fan of true musical artistry and impassioned delivery... http://www.stonecrowrecords.com http://www.myspace.com/rstar But I am oh so very glad that he didn't "win" this "competition". Please, Supernova, let Lukas and Storm go! But don't make them out to be ugly and bitter with your editting.

oh! And there's a big difference between last year's contestants and this year's rockers. All you have to do is look up their own stuff (though you told me before you didn't have to do that). Indie record labels are their friends until they're allowed to sign a major label contract.

96. "My Thoughts..." |
LAST EDITED ON 09-01-06 AT 10:25 PM (EST)Hi All - I, like many others, had grown to really look forward to Ryan's performances each week. I could sense a growing confidence over the weeks this seasons. Why was he cut? I have my theory. It all started with "Losing My Religion". As I'm sure a lot of you can recall, that week we saw a new 'intensity' in Ryan's performance. It was like there was this new guy up there. We loved it. Same for "Paint It Black", he brought it again. I think the highpoint was "Back of my Car". Then there was last week. For me, i thought the 'intense Ryan' was definately not right for that song. While, and after, he sang it, i was thinking to myself "Why can't he hold back that screaming. Its not right for this song. Its ok at times, for certain songs, but not all." Then on the elimination night, it was the same thing all over again, but surprisingly taken a notch higher. Again, it did not fit that song. The chorus, yes, but not the entire song. Quite frankly, i thought he looked a bit drunk on elimination night. My theory is that SN saw what you could call (to a degree) a one-trick pony. High-energy/intense/on the verge of screaming takes on every song. I think he would have been kept around if he could show control to his intensity. I think 'Clocks' lost him the chance at the gig. I'm not trying to knock the guy, I'm just sharing some thoughts. Agree? Disagree? geekboy

Disagree.Ryan was uncomfortable the first few weeks because of the whole aspect of the show. He doesn't generally do covers. Except Head Like A Hole. *grin* He's been performing since he was a teenager. First with the band Stage and then solo. He was having some trouble finding himself in a two minute performance of somebody else's song. What we have seen over the past few (too few) weeks is Ryan getting comfortable. Ever since "I Alone" which is one of the first songs Stage ever played (I believe he said he was 15). I love his intensity. I love his voice. OMD, do I love his voice. That performance of "Clocks" was so incredibly sexy. So that's all a matter of opinion there. "One Trick Pony"? Ryan? LOL. Not by a long shot. I ask you to view some of his other videos on You Tube. There will be plenty up there to see when you click on the "Head Like A Hole" link. Text the word "CRAVE" to 8917 and reply with "RYAN"!

That clip does not remind me of Ryan's last couple of performances, buttercup. I can sit here and argue back and forth with you - and this is in the general form of "you" from here on out - about why I am a Ryan fan. But why should I? If you're not a fan, you're not a fan. If you can honestly tell me that you've heard and seen Ryan's original music and you still don't like him, I can't change your mind. And you can try to tell me he's not talented, he's a "one-trick pony" (who said that? I forget. Was that you? Shame on whoever said that. *shakes head*) or whatever else you want to tell me to try to make me change my mind. But you can't because I am a fan. I am a Ryan Star fan. I'm a fan of him and I'm a fan of his music. And if you've ever been a fan of anything, you would know you can't change my mind. He makes me feel things when he sings. He has done in under two minutes once a week what most musicians have never and could never do to my emotions. He makes me laugh. He makes me cry. He makes me swoon. He gives me chills. My passion for him is that of a fan. From now on, I would love for this to be just a Ryan fan thread. I know that's not a reasonable request on this forum but it's a heartfelt one. I want his fans on this site to have somewhere to look to find out new things about him. Links, updates, pictures shows, etc. I leave you with a quote from a Zayra fan: "You can have lists of reasons why you believe in someone or something or you can just say, 'because that is what I believe, I have faith.'" Verizon Wireless subscribers, text the word "CRAVE" to 8917 and reply "RYAN".

103. "RE: My Thoughts..." |
"You don't like "Lullaby Suicide"? The lyrics are great, I'm just not sold on the whisper vocals. I don't hate the song, I love every song on th CD, it's the only song I have a slight criticism of. The CD, as a whole, is heaven . . . I love the sound and meaning of each song. The passion Ryan infuses into each song is amazing. I don't understand how he hasn't been signed to a major label yet."Dave's interview with him was awesome ". . . Dave is the only one I respect the opinion of this season. Thanks for the Podcast link, I enjoyed it, Glow. "As far as him being too good for Supernova goes, I believe he would have made them better." I agree whole heartedly Ryan would have made SN better . . . however I don't believe any of the guys (Tommy, Gilby, Jason) would ALLOW Ryan to make them better. That's why I believe they would have dragged Ryan down. I feel these old cats think they know it all and are set in their ways . . . Ryan knows what he wants and is very hands-in & detail oriented . . . Ryan & SN would not have meshed together at all. I guess it boils down to the fact that I DO NOT respect SN at all! Last season I was a big fan of INXS & wanted the best artist to front INXS (JD). I was invested in the outcome, but also appreciated some of the other contestants. This season I am not interested in Supernova. I don't believe they are sincere in finding a frontman and a real longevity. To me, it's a short-term gig and DAWdom they're after. The only reason I am watching this season is for the talent. I could care less about "Supernova" and I highly doubt I will either buy the SN CD or buy a ticket to their tour. If Lukas wins, then I might reconsider, but he's another I think is too good for SN. It will be a waste of his talent and time if he wins. Honestly, after these last few weeks I think SN is down to either Dilana or Toby. Evs, but I like Toby more than SN. I also think winning this would be the best thing for Toby's future career. He's really entertaining & great vocals, but doesn't have that something extra to boost him to super stardom. So, between Toby & Dilana, I would rather see Toby get the gig. It would be a big party for the year or whenever the contract runs out. Toby would fit in with the guys well, fun loving, yet not too crazy and wouldn't take too much attention from Tommy . . . and seriously, this is what it's all about for SN (IMHO). Kind Creation of ARNutz

In case anyone wants the text here (cause it's SO awesome!)Ryan recorded Live CD with House Star Band! Read his new blog posts: http://ryanstar1978.spaces.live.com/ Mark Burnett loves Ryan! http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/ny-etryan074880381sep07,0,5693691.story
Since 'Supernova,' Star's rise is meteoric BY GLENN GAMBOA Newsday Staff Writer September 7, 2006 Ryan Star may have finished in sixth place on "Rock Star: Supernova," but the exposure from the CBS reality show has already put him on top. Last week, Star's original song "Back of Your Car" hit No. 1 on the MSN Music charts, ahead of new releases from Beyoncé and the Pussycat Dolls. To feed that momentum, the Dix Hills native rushed into the studio yesterday to record a live album with the "Rock Star" house band that will be released online next week. "As soon as I was voted off last week, Mark Burnett took me aside and said he believed in what I do," Star said yesterday. "He said he wanted to break me as an artist." Burnett set up yesterday's concert, in front of hundreds of Star's fans, as well as the incredibly fast distribution of the album, which will mix originals and covers. "I'm just seven days into my new life and I'm already recording a record," he said. "It's all moving so fast, but I'm riding the waves as they come."

heh. yes, I have non-Rock Star Ryan songs. I have:Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant - 2005 1. We Might Fall 2. So Ordinary 3. Famous Love 4. Losing Your Memory 5. Psycho Suicidal Girls 6. “O” 7. The Back Of Your Car 8. Saw You In Heaven 9. The Same When I’m Alone 10. Dance With You 11. Sink Or Swim 12. Perfect 13. Famous Yet 14. The First Time 15. Waiting For Love 16. Here Son 17. Take A Ride With Me 18. The Fairy Tale 19. The One You Know 20. Lullaby Suicide Dude is amazing. I have two copies of this and got my mom a copy. Stage EP - 2004 (never printed) 1. Perfect Time Of Night 2. Everything I Wanted To Be 3. Sink Or Swim 4. “O” 5. Wake Up Bonus track 6. Orpheus (revisited) Stage - 2003 Maverick Records Available on CD and Online Distribution (iTunes) 1. The World Has Come Between Us 2. An Angel Screams From Outer Space 3. I Will Be Something 4. I Don’t Know 5. Perfect 6. I Know Where You Are 7. Country Bleeding 8. Live Happy, Live With Anorexia 9. Flag 10. The Scientist’s Canvas / n.p. 11. Jesus Was A Test Tube Baby / way down there
Stage – Blue Album - 1999 (1000 compact discs out of print) 1. Braces 2. An Angel Screams From Outer Space 3. My Nubby Sweater 4. The Frog Prince 5. Live Happy, Live With Anorexia Bonus Tracks 6. Ghost From December 7. My Dependent Sweet 8. Beg You To Be Here
Stage – Black Album - 1997 (500 Compact Discs out of print) 1. Ego 2. My Nubby Sweater 3. Lake Morey Inn 4. Orpheus
Historical Underdosing- Early 1995 Stage – Dive “very independent records” Produced By Stage and Bob Pollatta (1,000 Compact Discs out of print) 1. River 2. Speaks No English 3. Drive 4. Sun Glass 5. Chaos In The Park 6. Milked 7. Wetsand 8. Pro-Q 9. Nod 10. Toms 11. Shaman 12. Curtains And a bunch of live and "unreleased" R. Star and Stage stuff.
It's such a shame that Maverick didn't promote Stage like they should have. They were so close to making it. Some of the greatest songs ever written were performed by this band. It's tragic that they broke up. There are a lot of broken-hearted fans of the band out there. For them, Ryan making it "solo" is bittersweet. I'm a fan of Stage because of Ryan's solo career, so it's very different for me (and the rest of his new fans), but I can see where then heartbreak comes from. I can see it pretty clearly.

170. "RE: Ryan" |
wow. I am so glad you went! SilverStar told me you posted about it and I was thrilled! Thank you, buttercup, for supporting my man. Okay. So I just got back from the Cleveland show. I hosted a cellcert, stood right against the stage (had to have somewhere to rest my drink), and got some personal time. He told me to stop giggling. LOL... He said he was half kidding and I stuck my tongue out at him. He said he was just trying to make me cry. I told him it wouldn't take much. He played a song that he hadn't played before called "Breathe" and it made me cry. I said, "you happy? you made me cry." He said, "Well you're the emotional one." Very funny and cute. And intimate. It was more than I expected and I am very happy with my experience. Oh! We ate at HOB before the show (to ensure first come seating ~standing~) I got up to go look for a couple girls we were meeting and realized we were seated right.next.to Ryan and his crew. I went up to Michelle and said, "hey, I'm Glow." She told me I freaked her out because she had no idea who would be recognizing her and handed me a note from my lovely friend who I met through all of this (she is one of Ryan's best friends who couldn't make it to the show because she lives and has a full-time job in New York). One of the lines was telling me to tell Ryan to be extra nice to me because she said so, so I slid in the seat beside him and showed him. He said, "Those are strong words. I'll be sure to be extra nice." They were eating so we left them alone for the most part. Stoney (the co-owner of the record label) said, "you're glow?!?!" and grabbed my hand and dragged me over to their table. I sucked on his lemon and he fed me a french fry. They are AMAZING people. If they come to your area, see them (him). oh yeah. I got a BRAND NEW ring yesterday and gave it to him. It was a spur of the moment thing and he told me after the show after SilverStar told him I wanted it back, "well I wore it for a live show. It will be on ebay tomorrow." I said, "what.ev.er dude, you better be wearing it in Edinboro." He is the most dorkishly wonderful person to ever walk the face of the earth. Seriously. If you get a chance to see him... DO IT. Thank you, Wacko Jacko, again for supporting him. It means the world to me. And to him. He is doing this tour to meet his supporters. He supports his fans as much as they support him. The pictures of me and Ryan SUCK *glares at SilverStar* but the pictures of me and Stoney are cute. I'll post those ones when I get home and load them to my computer (this is Star's). Hopefully, I'll get better ones of me and Ryan on Thursday. I told Stoney I wanted the set list and he handed it to me. Ryan circled "Breathe" and signed beside it. ::love:: Thank you, all of you who are taking this in. The guy is truly truly one of a kind. If you haven't yet, jump on the train. It's an amazing ride.

173. "Ryan in Edinboro" |
LAST EDITED ON 11-10-06 AT 12:03 PM (EST)Let me start this off by saying I suck. I was so rushed to get there. It took me much longer to get there than it took me to get to Cleveland because of traffic (and getting myself lost but we'll not mention that part because it was a straight shot but I needed gas so I had to get off I79 and couldn't figure out how to get back on north. heh. *sigh*). I have no idea which is farther mileage wise but time wise... ugh. I had to go home after work. Home is, of course, in the opposite direction. I emailed the lady who was the contact person for the concert earlier in the day. She told me doors opened at 7. 7?!?!!!!! There is no way I could possibly be there by 7. Rush hour traffic? yikes. So when I was finally on my way, it occurred to me that I forgot to put extra batteries in my purse for my camera. No biggie. I'll just take a few photos. Right? So I get there. Go in. It's this like big auditorium. Much much different than the Cambridge Room at HOB. Much. So I sat in this seat and called a friend I met on Tuesday. She texted Ryan's road/merch manager, michelle, and then texted me to tell me she was in the lobby. duh. That's a good place for the merch table, eh? So I went out there with her. The show started and we went in. We sat in the back and just took it all in. I have to tell you that Ryan in a big auditorium is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I got to hear "Dance With You" live. And? I got to take the whole concert in with a truly beautiful person. We couldn't get my camera to zoom in without shutting off. I have no pictures... oh wait, no, I have one picture. Ryan joked with the crowd the way he does. He's just an amazing amazing amazing performer. Everything about him is so natural and just so... wow... did I say amazing? After the show, I stood aimlessly and uselessly to the side. I saw Stone running around up on stage so I went to ask him if I could do anything for him. There really wasn't anything I could do, of course. He asked me to run Ryan's jacket out to him or to Michelle so I did that. I was talking to a couple security guards... I use this term VERY loosely because they were 12 year old boys (okay 17 or 18) with yellow t-shirts... and a lady came over and was talking about how many tickets were sold. I don't remember the exact number (I'm so very scatterbrained lately... like, you have NO idea) but it was somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred. Much much different than HOB. Much. I went outside to return some phone calls. I talked to the contact lady, Carla, who was very lovely. Then I spoke with a cute, yet very shy young lady who wanted an interview with Ryan for the school paper (or something... again, I'm scatterbrained). She said he would probably stop the line right in front of her. (We were in the back.) I assured her that he would not. When she finally did get to ask her questions, she didn't write anything down. Ryan made a comment about being misquoted. When she was gathering her stuff, I said, "so ummm.. do you remember his answers to your questions?" She half-heartedly said she did so I made a conscious effort to commit them to memory. I may be scatterbrained but ouRStar will not be misquoted when a Dark Whore is in sight. (I have to figure out how to get a copy of that interview.) I wanted to get another picture of Ryan and I. One that wasn't so freaking funny. ~ though it is pretty ##### priceless, I must say ~ The tambourine chick offered to take it (the interview girl offered to take it but ran out the door) and it shut off on her. Dead batteries. Michelle took a few with her camera (that I don't necessarily like). I walked to their car with them and felt my heart sinking. In that short walk, every single memory I have of Tuesday and Thursday night flashed through my brain for the millionth time. I realized how much this has meant to me and how very true it is when I say these people are beautiful and amazing. This comes not only from a fan but from somebody who has had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with them. There were lots of hugs. Lots of tears when I got to my car. Grateful and overwhelmed tears. Sad tears because I have NO idea when I'll see them again. Happy tears because I am SO honored to have had this opportunity. I can't wait for the day when those of you who haven't been able to meet him/them get that chance. I'll always remember my first time... "just let go and you'll feel alive" If Ryan Star comes anywhere near you, anywhere, go. You won't be sorry and it will be something you will remember forever. Beautiful. Amazing. Magical. All pretty overwhelmingly so. oh yeah... Ryan shaved... and he had the ring.
