"Who fits with Supernova?" |
This isn't to discuss who is the best singer, it's a thread about who fits with Gilby, Tommy and Jason.One issue is that it seems to me the three of them don't have a clear idea of what they want to be. Tommy wants someone sexy, Gilby is totally against that. Jason seems to want a harder edge. I think many of these people don't fit in any mix with those guys. Dilana--she is a pretty good fit. Her voice and style fit in with all three of the guys. The one and only drawback is that she's beat up looking. Yeah, those guys are too, but they might want a lead singer who hasn't been around the block as many times. Phil--well, he seems to fit Tommy's wish for a softer, sexier lead. But the other two don't want him and he really doesn't rock, so ultimately, he doesn't fit. Jill--Last night I thought she seemed right for the band, sexy in a slutty way but not beat up looking, kind of cartoonish. Rock chick. So she does fit. Tobey--He seems like a Bon Jovi fit. Audience popularity will carry him far, but I don't think he'll be the ultimate choice. He seems like he's trying to fit in with what they want, but I don't think he is compatible with them in the end. Lukas--Way too 80's and not attractive at all, kind of pudgy, so he will also go far but ultimately doesn't fit with the band. Magni--He fits. He has the edge they want. He has vocal ability. But he doesn't bring anything new. Zayta--She brings something new, something unique that I don't think they'll get from anyone except Dilana. She is super sexy and edgy, but Jason and Gilby don't like her, neither does the public. I think she'd get Supernova more attention than anyone else, but she will probably be gone muy pronto. Patrice--She fits. She is sexy in a trashy way. she can rock. But she is one dimensional, dull. She does fit, though. Storm--She's a Spice Girl. I love the Spice Girls, but I don't think Rocker Spice fits with Supernova. Dana--obviously she does not fit at all. Great voice, great potential. Can't imagine her with this group. Josh--Exact same as Dana. Love his voice, but doesn't fit with this group. Ryan--He does fit. He is a rocker mannequin, and would be a very dull frontman, but I can see him with these guys. He has enough roughness in his voice and look. Best fits: Dilana, Magni
Worst fits: Dana, Josh

The first thing I'd ask is can/will a woman win this?I just don't see them picking a woman to front their band. Like last year, I just knew INXS would never pick a woman. They give it a lot of lip service, but IMO, they were way too sexist to ever give it to a woman. I think the same is true of Supernova. That being said, the frontrunner to me is clearly Lukas. Toby's next. After that is anyone's guess, although Ryan could be stepping up his game big time.

ITA....about Lukas. I personally can't stand him or his annoying ego....but they seem to like him.....arrogance and "throaty voice"......Toby. No. I don't think theyre that into him.

Best Performer:
Storm - Sexy, great voice, unafraid. Not right for this band but there seems much talent and experience to show still.Best Fit:
Dilana - She has the voice, edge, experience and seems like she can hold her own in a room full of amped, vulger guys. 2nd Best Fit:
Lukas - Almost there. Needs vocal work but has the stage presence. Needs to town down the glam factor though. Best Musician:
Magni - He comes across as musically very knowledgeable and professional. Long shots:
Toby - getting exposed to limited range and hasn't really done anything interesting with any songs yet.
Ryan - Talent, energy, and ambition are there. I don't think his personality is right though. No one else is really even close. Dilana should win. I think final two will be Storm and Dilana. These are the only two rockers who have personalities capable of handling the large ego's of the existing band. Yes, I know this is a minority opinion.

On sheer stage presence and who would LOOK right and sound good fronting Suave Porn, I think it's a tossup between Lukas and Dilana. I worry a lot about Lukas's ability to keep his voice for a tour of two-plus-hour shows, though.Magni seems like he'd be a really safe choice and would be just fine fronting Suave Porn, but nothing too terribly exciting. When I watch the credits at the beginning of the show and there's the sort of shadowy figure of a big, beefy rock star, I always think, "Man, that's Magni." He'd fit the band well in the same visual way that James Hetfield fits Metallica. And then there's Storm. She would look great in front of this band and would never have to worry about being upstaged, but I dunno. I love her, but something just seems the tiniest bit off for her fronting Suave Porn, and I'm not sure I know what it is. I wouldn't have thought it at the beginning, but I have the odd feeling Magni's gonna be the guy still standing at the end.

I wish I could take credit for it. Over on the rock band message boards, someone renamed 'em that because they thought Supernova was just way too cheesy a name (and I agree). Suave Porn just fits these guys much better, don'cha think?
