I'm finding it hard not to root for the Girl Who Looks Like The Girl Who Played Anne of Green Gables. Soldiering on through the burn! And I don't dislike the southern accent gal with the big teeth, the one who probably has a bit of a WAC background... ETA: Megan Follows, who played Ann of Green Gables. Is it not uncanny? I am already annoyed by the Cheerleader and the Schwetter. Sneetch came home in time to watch Keith fumble as waiter and said "Wait, he's NOT the sweater?" Oh, and the chick who was sort of hitting on Ramsey. The "salad chef" (how's THAT for unclear on the concept?). Love Heather, the sous chef who burned herself & still held it together. I also kinda like Maribel & Rachel, though we haven't seen much of their abilities yet. Hope we see some soon - with Rachel's tough talk, I kinda started thinking, 'ok, show me.' Sara, the deli manager/cheerleader, needs to go home because she annoys the crap out of me. Virginia, the salad chef, seems like a big ho with her "putting on make-up" promo shots, the boobie clip of her in the bikini, and YES, I thought she was hitting on Ramsey too. Idiot. As for the guys, I don't really like any of them. The only one who kinda seems like he might, maybe, sorta not suck is Garrett, the ex-con. BUT, whether or not he can cook, he seems like a bit of a heinder. I had higher hopes for poncey little Giacomo, hope he gets it together. Tom, the stockbroker shvitser seemed like a Dewberry, but by the end he was kinda shaping up. CAN'T STAND Keith -- Dude, you are TOO OLD to be doing the hat & the goofy head crap. Cut it out, you just look incredibly stupid. And how can you work in any bar/restaurant and NOT know you need to get the tickets in? Right now? Butt. Larry was a disaster, and I think he left because it was more than he bargained for, and quit rather than look like even more of an idiot. I don't believe he was sick. As for Gabe (who?) and Polly (who?)...hmmm. I guess I would rather have seen Virginia go over Polly. But Virginia's ho-ish behavior & inevitable meltdown will be fun to watch. I gotta say, the first ep or 2 last year, I watched horrified as Ramsey ripped the contestants apart. I thought it was appalling. Last night I sat with a grin on my face for the whole 2 hrs. One of only 3 chefs in the UK to receive and maintain Michelin 3-star status for his restaurant. Made OBE (Order of the British Empire - one step below Knighthood). At least nine top restaurants - 5 of which hold Michelin stars, 9 books (not including cook's cards and Master Chef pieces, 3 hit TV series - not including the US version of HK, and 2 documentaries. Personally, I'd say that this entitles him to be considered a "real" chef - no matter how you feel about him as a person. Frankly, I think that if he had "real" chefs competing on this show we'd see a somewhat different side of him. And, I think that there are many, many, "real" chefs that would give their eye teeth for a chance to work and learn from him - no matter how he spoke to them or treated them. If nothing else, anyone that runs, as an amateur, in a marathon at an 8:36/mile pace is someone who demands a lot of himself and pushes himself hard. I doubt that he pushes anyone working for him any harder than he pushes himself, or is, himself, willing to be pushed. Puppy Lvoe from Tribe blogging's scary Would I take it from him? I really don't know much about him. From watching some other chef reality shows - there were on cable and one ran on PBS, stress in the kitchen and some prima dona chefs seems to be the average not the exception. Being on TV too I'm sure ups the butane in Ramsey's flame wars with his talent-free staff. Heather fan here. After watching last night's program, I have to say Mirabel disappointed. I don't think it is any attribute to mention dirt poor upbringing to qualify your chef credentials. Pity votes don't work. I'm on the Heather wagon. She's been getting the great edit since day 1. Garret is the only guy I can stomach. I was bummed Giacomo was booted so early, as I thought he had potential. On the women's side, other than Heather, only Rachel seemed like a contender and I was SO bummed she got the boot last night. Sarah is a disgusting evil farting pig! Virginia is a waste of space with a huge empty space between her ears. Maribel is almost invisible. I understand Chef Ramsey's ire this season, because he was stuck with a pretty pathetic group of contestants. Heather should easily win now and I don't think the finale will even be close this year with Rachel out of the running as a F2.
