Well, to be honest, until I saw vince's posting I had no clue when it was starting. I'd been thinking I needed to look so I could start a recrap sign-up thread, but I guess I missed that, too. Potato & white truffle wrapped Chilean sea bass. Bass good, sauce disgusting--like him. Lacey: Dunno, but it was from a corporate buffet. Chef spits it out. Danny: He's a redneck and his dish is hideous. Giovanni: An executive chef that can't cook rice Charlie: A joke LA(?): Screwed up fish & chips ? another hideous one Coleen: Teaches chefs, but is not, herself, a trained chef. Spits it out and questions the fact that she has the gall to train chefs. She points out that she "trains manners for chefs". She does not wait until confessional to point this out. Oops. Commercial. This should be good.

Andrea: Spot on.Coy: Delicious Paula: Seasoned decently Seth: Lamb chops (cinnamon crusted???) with ratatouille. Spits it out as overly sweet. Honey in ratatouille. Yech. (Seth thinks he cooks like Ramsay. Seth laughs. Ramsay tells him he could be the quickest exit ever.) Ben: Duck breast. Nice, attractive, and by far the best dish on the men's team. What's at stake? A quarter-million and a head chef position at a new restaurant in Atlantic City. Ramsay is expecting the best opening night ever based on their being the best signature dishes ever.

Kitchens: Hopeless. Lacey returns after a recharge time for her ego and quickly collects the first death threat from Coi, who can't stand that Lacey's station isn't ready. Gordon has to intervene before the first death threat gets carried out. Giovanni and Carol to wait staff duty. Giovanni svcks at it. Lacey can't cook, either: ruined scallops, plus she forgot to turn the oven on. Danny talking back to Gordon. Giovanni barely bringing in orders. Reading of the orders being interrupted. And then the power goes out, which is Steven Adler's fault. It's going to be a long night.

Colleen, the chef's teacher, tries to cook fresh spaghetti in a dirty pan. She can't find a clean one, in spite of the stack in front of her.Giovanni couldn't wait table if his life depended on it. Will burns the gnocchi and holds up the entire course. Colleen can't cook spaghetti. She says she isn't flustered by the criticism; she shows that she is well used to getting some. Seth screws up the lamb, but assurres us all that at the end of service he and Gordon will be "like peas and carrots again". Colleen puts sugar into the risotto. She thought it was salt. Robert takes over for Will on garnish. Robert seems to be pretty much running the whole kitchen. Customers are leaving.

No one in the kitchens can do anything. And Carol can't get the customers drunk enough to keep them from driving away. The dining room empties. Gordon explodes. So much for Night #1.

Seth says that Will is the 1st nominee, and he is the second. He can give reasons for Will's nomination, but not for his own.The others disagree. They say Seth is the 1st nominee, and Will is the 2nd. Robert explains that Will wants to be there and is willing to learn. He's willing to put himself on the line to vouch for Will. Chef asks if he is willing to place himself on the block in place of Will. He agrees that he's willing to do so. I think Chef will appreciate that.

5 bucks says the blackout was staged. I love this show. It amazes me that after 4 seasons, they can still find people that can't cook risotto. You would think that people signing up for this show would download some of the previous seasons and see what is cooked a lot and practice those things. I seriously thought Ramsey was going to fire the cooking instructor on the spot after she said she also teaches manners. -----------------------------------------
