"RE: Sly on Larry King Live: Contender's been Cancelled" Sly Says: "No Mas" It's Over Sly was on Larry King this eve. When asked about the Contender, Sly said Please don't ask me about the Contender. Sly said it will not be on next year. He said what killed them was the moves they did from weekday to weekend. Sundays killed the show. He said had they kept the show running after the Apprentice, the show would have twice as many viewers today. Sly said that people are just to busy on Sunday nights getting ready for the weekday to come. Sly said he does not know who to point the finger at for these decision. Larry King moves on talking about Sly's life. The show closed with Larry King asking sly if there was anything that he had not done in his life, sly said he wish he could of changed some things he had done. Then he said he wished the contender would of been continued. Not because it was such a financial bonanza but becuase of what the show stood for and what the show was about. There you have it folks. Straight from the horses mouth. No Season II folks A quote from Peeta. "Where do I go from here?" Peter Manfredo Jr. Episode one. RIP contender. PS Larry King was the only host I have seen that really love the show. He was also the only person that really seemed interested in Nitro Turpin and Sly talked about Nijai for the most I have heard anyone talk about Najai for some time. NBC would never move ER, which has run on Thursday nights for what... 11 years to make room for a new untested reality show. Still, it's too bad they didn't put in on Mondays, Wednesdays or something else. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Perhaps, it will return in the future. At least give the courtesy in the subject title to say there is a possible spoiler. Had I known, I wouldn't have read it. How would I know from a Larry King Live thread that a spoiler would be in it? I'm just saying is just give common courtesy to the others who haven't watched it yet. I'm totally aware of special message boards for spoilers. I do read them. I read them for Survivor, Amazing Race, and Apprentice. I have to admit it's fun to read, but for Contender, I really don't want to know. In that post I left originally, it may look like I bust a vein in my brain, I just wanted to express in some way how I felt about it. Oh well, move on. But I agree that you didn't protect yourself. You were surfing at a dangerous time, and what did you think would be in the message that responded to the question "Who fought tonight and who won the fight?". Unless you were reading the messages out of order, it seems obvious that the next message might be a spoiler. Having said that, I would still recommend that you watch the fight. Skip all the "families at the beach" crap, and watch the fight. The move to 7 rounds is good, the rematch factor was good, and chance at final 2 made both fighters hungry. The winner was fully deserving, but the loser showed a lot of heart. Much better than their first fight. Now I want to see them fight again after the show, just like I want to see those two heavyweight finalists from the UFC reality show final.
