I agreed with Booby Flay (not a typo) in that if you are going to make hamburgers...knock it out of the ballpark! I actually liked Crafty Beavers camp better except for the bathroom. Mitch got too much pleasure out of the judges acknowledging his "hands in everything" though. Who do you think is getting the edit of winner?

LAST EDITED ON 01-21-05 AT 11:09 AM (EST)Winner? It's hard to say at this point. Honestly, I can't say that any of them should win. So far I see Denise as the strongest, and she's the only one who hasn't lost yet. And how about the chic labeling everything? I kept waiting for her to label for forehead with a big ol' "L." LAST EDITED ON 01-21-05 AT 01:31 PM (EST)The DeFazio School of Interior Design ( Schlamiel! Schlamazel!). I can't see watching any of these people in their own show. None of them has the personality. I did enjoy watching M. cook, and now she's gone. I also wonder if the "end game" strategy (Survivor-speak, nicht wahr?) is such a hot idea; the Artisans may regret bouncing the chef so quickly, unless redhaired designer girl cooks as well as she says (and her desserts did not back up her claims last week).

LAST EDITED ON 01-21-05 AT 03:11 PM (EST)And I thought the blankets and shirts were a nice touch. I was a little confused about the sleeping quarters. I didn't understand whether or not it was supposed to be the help's living quarters or a possible room for the guests to sleep in. The Beavers all had separate beds, but at Artisan they only showed one bed. Did all of them sleep in that one bed? I'm sure all of those judges have someone who makes their beds every morning. Heck their sheets are probably changed everyday. We don't always make our bed, but if we have company coming, it's certainly something I take a moment to do. ETA: Margo pretty much cetered her universe around her potato salad. Their theme was rustic elegance, so potato salad -- although "campy" certainly isn't elegant. Slice & Dice Chop Shop 2004

Don't forget that they spent their entire budget on supplies and only had $4 left for the food. I'm surprised they could afford the ground turkey.

Yep. And that's why I'm not certain the little green specs in the burgers were parsley.

Zactly. What Bucky Katt said. It would demonstrate each persons talents in each area. If only Les Moonves would listen to us.

16. "Support for individual projects" |
>I think instead of having individual >projects (which for the most >part have been second rate >afterthoughts) they should randomly draw >who is responsible for a >certain aspect of the project >and then be evaluated on >that. I'm not sure I agree - I think I might prefer to go the other way, to have more focus on the individual projects. The thing I like about the individual projects is that they are a way for someone with a really good all-around ability to be creative (the ultimate goal of the show) to survive a bad team - as long as they are smart about always making sure to dedicate time to projects regardless of how the team project is going. A person worthy of winning in the end, in theory, should never be removed even if the team does poorly week-to-week. If you think about it, the individual projects are also kind of doing what you wanted - which was to have people display talents in all sorts of different areas. The first could be construed as a food challenge (to use apples), the second as kind of a themeing test (how well you can make a gift bag that matches the party theme) and the last episodes challenge as a test of the ability to create something from very raw materials. I like this approach because it lets you (and the judges) see the the abilities of each person in a "pure" context, without help or interference from other players. The problem I see with your suggestion is that I think there would be too-much crossover in work, people who were naturally pushy would tend to bleed over into other areas and perhaps carry team-members that were not deserving to continue, and also mask talent or a lack thereof. I really feel like as they have it set up, in the end individual projects will have some role in selecting the winner. The problem I see with the individual projects as they have them is that we really do not see them!! They flash by on the screen very quickly, we never get a good sense of who made what without a lot of effort. The first episode was actually pretty good in this regard, we got to see who made what and heard what the worst as well as the best projects were. But shows since then have been terrible in presenting the projects and we don't even see the winning teams projects. Since this is supposed to be a show to appeal to people who watch other style shows, you would think they would want to spend a lot of time going over these cute side projects so you would head for the web site for some idea how to make them. On a related note, I feel like the contestants have mostly done a pretty poor job on individual projects. They seem to lack any understanding of what the topic at hand is, and many seem content to buy some cheap trinket and glue stuff onto it. That's not crafty, that's just crappy. I do like the concept of the show, I don't think CBS does a very good job of presenting it. I also fear we may not ever see the last episode, I've been watching the HDTV feed from LA, and the last episode they stopped broadcasting the HDTV version. I sense that CBS is rapidly dropping support for this show, at least it's not dropped as fast as "The Will"... I hope CBS at least will stick by it and keep airing the episodes after it moves to its new, far more deadly timeslot (same time as The Will in fact...).

19. "RE: Support for individual projects" |
Indeed you are correct about your post having drawn me out of lurking, I have been reading some of these forums off and on for around a year now (though really more off than on) as I watch mostly the Amazing Race and the Apprentice (I used to watch Survivor for the first few seasons but I weaned myself from it as it was altogether too much TV for my liking). Oh and also American Idol, but I'm not sure I consider that so much Reality TV as a nice variety show.Partly though it was also Wickedly Perfect itself that drew me here - I went to the CBS site looking for a way to comment on the problems I was seeing, and finding nothing turned to google - which led to this board. Currently despite the flaw I find that Wickedly Perfect is actually my favorite reality TV show, at least the one I look forward to the most and spend the must time mulling over what occurs after the show ends each week. I agree with you that the individual projects should be more narrowly defined than they are - like you said, they should have made the first weeks challenge be food-only! Though I thought they had done that this past week when watching the show, I could have sworn they said "make an object from natural items only, incorporating this map". To me, the only project that came close to adhering to the requirements I heard was actually Darlene's basket as it was the item that used the least amount of bought goods in the final product (even that had some kind of plastic or glass beads woven through it). Things like the survival kit, or even the bridge (built with processed lumber instead of logs whittled by hand) should have just been discarded as missing the point. On a side note even though I find Darlene's personality grating so far, I have to say that I find her ideas generally very good and her team would be well served to listen to her more. Shows like these and the tendency to make the unveiling of the winner live TV, make me wonder if the contracts people sign going in state there may be no winner if the show is canceled before the final show. A shame to spend all this effort working on the show if it may just be canceled before the end. I'll keep watching though...

I agree. It's only a matter of time before the contestants wise up and start putting more effort into what ultimately counts instead of the team projects. It really doesn't matter how well the teams do, it's those individual projects that make or break them.
