This is the first week of the BET 'EM special. I've selected three games -- you can bet up to 3 points per game. A loss is now a real loss. A BET 'EM UPSET will score 3x value only for a win, 1x for a loss.
You MUST indicate the BET 'EM option (with points bet) on the same line as your pick. EXAMPLE: Pottsville Maroons @ Dayton Triangles BET 'EM 2 points

As a first timer, I'm not quite sure if I follow you.To this point, (or hitherto or heretofore), a correct guess was +1 and an incorrect guess was 0. For non BET 'EM games, is that still the case or does your "a loss now is a real loss" mean that it is +1/-1 for correct/incorrect? Or, is the +1/-1 only the case for BET 'EM games? Do you have the option to opt out of a BET 'EM game? I understand the upset special multiplier. That's no problem. Thanks!

I'll try and answer, and let others wade in if I am wrong.For non BET 'EM games, is that still the case or does your "a loss now is a real loss" mean that it is +1/-1 for correct/incorrect? You only lose, if you lose your bet, and you have declared you are participating on that bet. For example, if I bet 2 on New England (ouch), and they lost, I would lose two points. If I simply picked New England (no bet), I would have zero, not -1. Or, is the +1/-1 only the case for BET 'EM games?
Correct. Do you have the option to opt out of a BET 'EM game?
Yes. Hence the indicator "Bet Em". If you don't want to bet - don't add that phrase.

I'd like a clarification myself... From Moley's post:...you can bet up to 3 points per game. A loss is now a real loss. A BET 'EM UPSET will score 3x value only for a win, 1x for a loss. Using your example, if I bet 2 points on New England, I would get 6 points if they win and -2 if they lose. I'm not sure if this is what Molaholic intended as it's different from what we've done in the past, so I would ask for clarification directly from him. If this is actually correct, then my apologies. I'm in agreement that it will continue to be a +1/0 scenario for all games where someone does not declare a "bet-em" and you lose a point only if you declare it as a "bet-em" and is incorrect.

Most of the above are correct -- Non BET 'EM games retain the +1/0 payout. In the designated BET 'EM games, the player has the option of placing a bet or not -- if not, then regular payout rules apply (+1 for a win, 0 for a loss). If the player chooses to BET 'EM, they can bet 1, 2, or 3 points. You must show the amount of your bet **taps Starshine** the payout is then +x for a win and -x for a loss. If this is also qualifies as an UPSET game, then the payout is +3x for a win, but remains -x for a loss.Graphically: CONSENSUS chooses -
Pottsvile @ Dayton BET 'EM 2 and Pottsville wins. CONSENSUS earns 2 points.
or
Pottsville @ Dayton BET 'EM 2 and Pottsville loses. CONSENSUS loses 2 points. If this game qualified as an UPSET game, then the payout would be +6 for a win, -2 for a loss.
