That's very true. Just like any life change, quitting smoking, or drinking, or whatever your particular addiction might be, a person can only successfully change their eating habits when they are ready and willing to do so. So I don't blame the mom for her husband's weight, and only somewhat for the children's weight. They were a fat family, and at some point she got tired of being overweight and took steps to change that. I would imagine she tried to offer all of her family the leaner choices she was eating, but they weren't interested. I also think Ron is likely the dominant personality -- as long as he was continuing to eat an unhealthy diet, his boys followed his example, even while hating themselves for doing so. It's such a mixed up thing - our love/hate affair with food. It shouldn't be this way, yet it is. Even though I sometimes get frustrated, as do the trainers, with competitors on this show for getting caught up in game play, or not really thinking sensibly about eating/working out, etc. -- in actuality it is showcasing that being obese is a complicated issue. It's not as simple as eating a balanced diet and getting exercise. Designed by Agman, siggy maker to the gemstones

I am disappointed, but not surprised. I cut it off when I saw the conversation between Mike & Ron in the room. I did check back at the end to see how Kristin has done at home.I think she really struggled in that first six weeks, 16 pounds total lost? I hope between then and the finale she gets it off. I was also disappointed to see the streaks trying to sneak back into her hair. I was jumping up and down and thrilled when Jillian went into Tara's room. Thank you Jillian! I was blown away by the food journal. Oh my. They all had a bad week, and we know why. I also knew Kristin was going from the outset. The editing really doesn't hide some of the eliminations. is a very healthy rate of weight loss, even a little high. .5-2 pounds a week is the suggested range.

Like Boo, I was disappointed but not surprised. I wonder if they cringed when they watched the show last night and realized their conversation had been picked up. I'd bet money they had a completely different conversation in front of cameras.Fell in love with Jillian all over again when she went to Tara's room. Especially with the showing of the clip of her telling Mike to send Laura home. She's a true professional and cares about her trainees. I think Mike and Rob overplayed their hand lastnight at Elimination and drew an even bigger bullseye on Mike's back then he already had. They were both smug beyotches at the table, but I still like Mike. For some reason the products placement segments got on my nerves lastnight. Ugh. Did the video log of their eating backfire on Bob? Is this the way they've been eating all along? or were they trying to reduce calories to impress him? I understand tho - most of us think that reducing calories is the way to lose weight - and it's hard to un-do old thoughts and change. Course they've been there long enough to have learned better.Kristin seemed bitter about Mike winning the reward challenge. Why is it that every contestant on every reality show thinks he/she is the most deserving! LOL Did Helen really think Tara should give up on the challenge and just give it to her? "Nothing gets to you, does it?" I couldn't believe she said that! Helen was at the end of her rope (literally) and really didn't have much to bargain with. (I'm still so disappointed about her lack of make-over.) Jillian really had confidence in Tara's weight loss. I'm glad Tara didn't need the 1 lb. Tara mentioned deposit, etc on a new apartment with the $10,000; wonder what she'll be doing with the kitchen make-over? I sure wouldn't put it into a rented place. Maybe she can give it to her mom. I really don't like the begging before the vote. I understand that those up for elimination want to plead their cases, but each one cries "I'm not ready to go home; I deserve to be here". None of these people would be very good at debates . If I were one of the ones having to vote, I think I'd tell them the group could talk it over without hearing from them. That sounds cruel, but what they say really doesn't make much impact on the decisions, does it? Now about Ron. Kristin has known for a long time that Ron is all about Mike and only Mike. Ron kept his promise to never write her name down; but he lied when he told her mother he'd do everything he could to protect Kristin. Kristin may hold it against Mike for voting her gone; but she knows that that was really Ron's decision. Slicey took out the wrinkles '08

I hope they were trying to impress Bob. The only thing I can say about Helen and her makeover is that I wanted more for her, but when you look at her in Week 1, she really has changed drastically. I don't like the begging either, and I didn't like Kristin pulling Ron aside. Samboobree, brought to life by Arkie

I couldn't believe that Helen thought Tara should throw the competition for her! Besides the fact that Helen already owes Tara a $10,000 for eating the cookie in her name a couple of challenges back. Whatever! They all get mad at Tara cause she is kicking butt...why would you want to win a challenge on a "give me". That is what I didn't understand about the yellow team begging everyone to "give me" the win on that balancing challenge. As much as I want to win something... if I can't do it on my own...I shouldn't want the "win".As much as I like Kristen, I don't blame Mike for voting her off...she was the biggest threat to him. And at this point it is down to game play. I still like Mike... but I thought it was pretty low of him and Dad to play the votes out like that. I think they should have been honest with Kristen. Not bold face lie to her...When Ali asked Ron did he know what Mike's decision was and he said NO... I was fussing at the screen. Great role model dad.. .teach your 18 year old that lying is ok if gets you out of an uncomfortable situation. Plus I really think Mike put a HUGE target on his back being so cocky about winning the whole thing. He has been everyone's "little brother" and flown under the radar...but when he said that, it was like everyone woke up and went... "Hey, we have a threat on our hands." You could see it on their faces. (Unless it was just editing...) He best hope he doesn't fall below the yellow line cause he will be gone. I want Ron to go home before the final 4. Although...my sisters and I were talking last night and if America got to vote again... things could go very wrong for Mike and Ron if they both stayed. We could have a repeat of last season where Ron would plea to vote for Mike and America votes for Ron out of spite! I really don't think that would happen...cause everyone seems to be taken with Mike and it isn't his fault that his dad is like he is... but just saying. Was anyone else surprised that the fried fish sandwich only had 640 calories?? I way overguessed. I had a 1000! OPPS! PS- JBUG: love the siggie! It looks just like you!! ~Thanks Agman..couldn't have done it without you. ~

I agree it had to be scripted. They showed them way back when logging their food into the BudyBugg software. I'm sure that would have alerted them to the mistakes.

Anyone notice the preview for next episode? When Mike was shown commenting on his weight result, they had an image of the weight tally board behind him. It showed: (1) unknown - couldn't see it (2) Filippe (3) Ron (4) not sure, looked like Helen (it only had the upper edge of the name showing) (5) unknown - couldn't see it It already showed (4) below the yellow line. I know Mike's name still hadn't shown, since he was up on the weight scale. We don't know, if Tara had been weighed yet. It's quite possible, Ron/Helen or Ron/Tara or even quite possible Ron/Mike fall below the yellow line. Thoughts anyone?

I am not surprised and I understand why Ron did what he did. What I have issue with is the way he went about it. Don't try to make Kristen feel like she has a chance to stay when that is not the case. He should have just said that he wouldn't write her name down or not say anything at all. And then to deny at the elimination that he didn't know who Mike was going to vote for...Thankfully, Kristen knew really what was going on. I still like Mike but I did not like the show of arrogance and I think that he put a huge target on himself. I liked Helen in the beginning but now... blah!! It bugs me when reality competitions make a big deal about the final _____ in this case it's congrats on making the final 5. So what? It comes down to the final 3! A Gift from Agman

I did not see the first hour, so I'm just commenting on the part I did see.It seemed underhanded for Ron to tell Kristen he would see if he could talk to Mike about the vote, when he knew what he was going to do all along. I don't blame him for trying to do what is best for his son, though. I also don't get why Kristen feels like she has the right to be upset. She gained a pound this week, and the show is called "The Biggest Loser". It's supposed to be about weight loss, not about friendships. I think Kristen still has a way to go, because she is still considered morbidly obese. I'm not sure if she will maintain the weight loss, but we'll see. Agman, 2008

Delayed post, but I had to wait for the FLN repeat.I was also happy that Jillian went in to talk to Tara about why she wanted Laura to go home. Hopefully it will help Tara really focus on herself and stop freaking out about everyone else. Like someone else said, I was also surprised the fish sandwich had only 640 calories. I thought they had both way underbid. Oh, and apparently taking anyone 18 (although I think she was implying 21) and under to NYC is pointless, because there is nothing for them to do there. Felipe was being childish at the challenge. Shaking the thing was just silly, and led to the mature AB conversation comment. I had to agree with Helen on that one. Way to be 10. It was interesting that Tara took the money and not the pound, and Jillian wasn't furious about it. Normally the trainers want you to do what is best for the game, to keep you on the ranch. But it was an interesting perspective that she was betting on herself, and it did pay off. And finally, Ron made me furious at the vote. After getting mad at Felipe for implying he wouldn't vote for Ron, and then doing it anyway, I can't believe he blatently broke his promise to Cathy and Kristin. True, he didn't write down her name, but he didn't do everything in his power to keep her there, either. It sounded like Mike (understandably - she was a big threat) wanted to write down Kristen's name originally, he just had to make sure it wouldn't make Ron mad. I understand why he's confident, but I probably wouldn't brag about it. But a lot of people mature and make their own decisions at college, so hopefully that will be true for him, too.

LAST EDITED ON 04-26-09 AT 08:49 PM (EST)And finally, Ron made me furious at the vote. After getting mad at Felipe for implying he wouldn't vote for Ron, and then doing it anyway, I can't believe he blatently broke his promise to Cathy and Kristin. True, he didn't write down her name, but he didn't do everything in his power to keep her there, either. I understand why he's confident, but I probably wouldn't brag about it. But a lot of people mature and make their own decisions at college, so hopefully that will be true for him, too. I was seriously annoyed (but not surprised) at the way Ron handled the whole thing. Why not be straight up with Kristen and tell her, "I won't put your name down, but I'm going to encourage Mike to vote you out, simply because you are the biggest challenge." As you said, Ron got so upset with Filipe for doing something similar. Way to be hypocritical Ron. However, the remaining contestants brought this on themselves. They had the opportunity to vote Ron out recently, and didn't take it. So there you go. Belatedly, they are realizing the strong brown voting block - and also seeing both Mike and Ron put up impressive weight loss numbers week after week. Maybe one or the other will fall below the yellow line this week -- and maybe Ron will go home. Filipe was a jerk on that challenge, but I'm still rooting for him, only because Ron, Tara and Helen have annoyed me so much more over the course of the season. Mike - I like him, but I feel he's still too much a daddy's boy. He's young and hopefully as he matures, he'll stand on his own two feet and make his own decisions.
