LAST EDITED ON 03-07-08 AT 02:47 AM (EST)Great episode, but aren't they all this season? My favorite part was when Juliette told Jack that Ben would win the war. It would have been when Ben told John Locke about his man on the ship but we viewers were excluded from that particular revelation. Therefore, that became my least favorite part. It was too contrived. Loved Ben's line about the rabbit having a number on it. Why would the people from the freighter need to sneak off to render the gas inert? Couldn't they just have told the Losties or maybe even asked for help? Why didn't Jack threaten to kill anybody this week. Was he tired or just bored?

Another winner.I thought this episode was very self referencial and a bit cheeky. Lot's of the characters were in it as well. When you think about it Lost has a huge cast. Confused about what episode it was that we originally saw Juliet in bed with Goodwin. Wasn't this her 2nd flashback episode or am I missing one? I ask because from last night it appeared Ben sent Goodwin to the wreckage right away and there was no goodbyes. Goodwin's wife is scary looking. Bad plastic surgery lady. Ben? Cracks me up. He is awesome. He was channeling Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka last night. Maybe that's why he reminds me of someone...hmmm. What was up with Jack and Juliet? Wasn't it only yesterday that Jack was proclaiming his love for Kate? Culd they add more people to this octagon? Ben now? Just did not ring true to his character unless he is playing Juliet to keep her close and he still does not trust her. Pure speculation on my part regarding next week: I still think Jin is a goner. Plus I wonder if Micheal will be part od sun's future. Remember back in Season 1 all that Sun/Micheal tension? I don't know if I think he is Ben's man on the boat as everone seems to think. What a cop out for this show if so. At least in twist potential. Arkie's Art! He's real and he is looking for you! "Bigfoot making the crop circles would expain a lot. Ben is probably looking for a "replacement" for his Mom. I do not believe Ben could ever actually have sex with a woman.... creepy stuff!

Goodwin's wife is scary looking. Bad plastic surgery lady. She reminded me of Doc Ally on Scott Baio's reality show. Did anyone else think that she was dead, and Ben sent her via Jacob? Ben? Cracks me up. He is awesome. He was channeling Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka last night. Maybe that's why he reminds me of someone...hmmm. You rang? Ben now? Just did not ring true to his character unless he is playing Juliet to keep her close and he still does not trust her. I disagree. He might have been playing her by exploiting her need to be close to someone, but I think his crush on Juliet and his jealousy of Goodwin shows how close to the edge he really is mentally. Tribefied

Question/ponderings - When Lost originally showed the crash from the Others perspective it started with Juliet's bookclub scene and they intimated tension already between Juliet and Ben. Remember the scene where Ben asks Juliet something about being excluded from the bookclub also? But then last night they had Ben and Juliet dining together after he had already sent they guys to the crash sites and there was no tension at least on Ben's part. Goof? or am I missing something. I thought they were going to show Kate watching the kiss between Jack and Juliet. I don't understand why Faraday and tribe doesn't just explain what they're doing there. More numbers - Ben's safe 36 15 28 and speaking of numbers - funny line Ben asking if there was a number on the rabbit he was about to eat. Could Ben's "her" that Harper referred to be Ben's mother. Remember, she had long blonde hair. Maybe he has an Oedipus complex. And since I brought up William Shakespeare the new Dharma station The Tempest - a Shakespeare play about a man and his daughter shipwrecked on an island with a lot of paranormal stuff ( I would have just gotten an F grade on that description . I'm still thinking Micheal can be the only shock factor of who's on the ship (not for us but for the Losties). I probably have more musings but my brain is still foggy from meds and lack of caffiene. Previews for next week's episode said that we would be seeing "someone you thought you'd never see again". Although, I guess it is possible that Michael may not be Ben's spy (as others have posted here) and that Michael's just on the boat for whatever reason. Who knows, maybe Michael is working for Charles Whidmore. Love this show! This season is so much better than last season. I love Ben. He's the best villain. He's done so much to these people but he still gets his way. I loved the ending... Ben walking with towels to his place, Sawyer and Hurley stunned and Ben saying "See you guys at dinner." Love it! I'm away next week and will have to rely on my 1910 VCR to tape the episode! I'm crossing my fingers that it will tape the episode decently. Siggie courtesy of Seana

My thoughts:1. The video Ben showed Locke was shot after the BoSox won the World Series. Who was shooting the video? Why does Ben have people positioned off of the island? 2. Ben has a good point about people wanting to flock to the island, but is that really the reason he wants to keep it a secret? 3. Like Breezy said, who does Juliet look like? 4. The preview said that we would find out the last of the Oceanic Six next week. If Aaron is not considered one of them, who does that leave that we already know about? Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, and _____? Or was that preview ambiguous enough to indicate that two will be shown next week? 5. I'm perplexed by Faraday and Lewis. What the heck are they really trying to accomplish? Tribefied

1. So it was also done after he showed Jack that tape too. Weird that he was using a vdeotape too with all the technology the island has. Seems outdated.2. I don't trust Ben at all. He is thinking one step ahead or is revealinf half tuths or holding back info. 3. I like Tummy's idea up there about his mother instead of Annie. 4. I thought they said Aaron was one of the Oceanic 6? Previews for that episode said it would be revealed as another one revealed. We had already known that Kate, Jack and Sayid were. (Kate revealed in season finale when Jack mentioned the Golden Pass that they were given by Oceanic). Last night's preview said "the final" one would be revealed. 5. I certainly don't know. 6. Finland!

My thoughts: 1. The video Ben showed Locke was shot after the BoSox won the World Series. Who was shooting the video? Why does Ben have people positioned off of the island?Good questions. The only other time I remember seeing a video he had shot was of Juliet's sister and son. So Ben has people off island working for him too. I wonder why they would still pledge allegiance to him if they were no longer stuck on the island.

I just told my coworker that I'm never talking to him on Fridays again. He thinks that Ben's man on the boat is...Locke!!!! Because of all the time shifts and Ben's "abilities", he thinks that he will manipulate Locke to being on the boat. That's why he has Locke sit down before he told him. I think my brain is going to explode.

Could be...I also think Ben could be a possiblity himself. My picks now, Ben, Sayid or Locke. Anyone else finding it takes a looooong time to post here today? Is it slow for everyone or just me. I have high speed too. Because of that I wanted to respond to your timeline question above about the book club and stuff. I thought the same thing. It seem screwy now I agree.

LAST EDITED ON 03-07-08 AT 10:22 AM (EST)Could the Ben/Juliet crush be more creepy and is Michael Emerson a terrific actor or what?! I assumed the "her" was Annie. So that's how he gassed everyone- interesting. I watched last week's "pop-up-video" episode. It said the captain of the Black Rock was Magnus Hanso- the owner of the diary was Tovard Hanso and the Darma financer is Alvar Hanso. Charles Widmore now owns the diary which presumably helped him find the island. The tape Ben played seemed almost fake- especially when Widmore looked at the camera. Great lines in this episode- when Juliet said it's stressful being an "other"- snort The book Ben is reading is VALIS by Phillip K. D!ck Handcrafted by RollDdice 2005

37. "Ben and Widmore" |
Ben told Locke he didn't know how Widmore knew about the island. This made me wonder if Ben knows about Penny and Desmond, or that Penny is Widmore's daughter. In fact, does Ben really know much of anything at all about Desmond? After all, his main information source on the Losties was by using the Oceanic 815 passenger list to help compile their confidential files. Suppose Desmond somehow slipped through Ben's notice. Sure Ben might have seen Desmond when spying through the Pearl, but maybe Ben knows very little about Desmond's background. Come to think about it, have Ben and Desmond ever been face to face? I don't recall any circumstance where they were. Ben's possible spy (Michael) may not have ever met Desmond either, now that I think about it. Desmond never met the other Losties originally until after Michael went off on the raft. Then Desmond disappeared into the jungle until later after Michael had led Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley into the trap.
So did Desomnd somehow alert Penny to the existence of the island and that is how Widmore knows aboutit, but Ben can't figure this out? Maybe this all does not matter. But in this thought exercise I found it interesting to conclude that Michael most likely has never met Desmond. Maybe that will prove to be a key point if and when they encounter each other, for example on the freighter.
