"Should we change the game's name to Big Sister?"
Unless Boogie can stop tripping over his lower lip long enough to pull out an HOH victory this week, it seems likely that we will be seeing an all-female Final 2 this year -- despite the early trend of kicking out all the girls. And it certainly won't be the first time. In fact, there has been a Final 2 of two men only once (Drew/Cowboy) and a mixed Final 2 only once (Will/Nichole). The rest of the times (Danielle/Lisa, Jun/Alison, Maggie/Ivette) have been all-female. I'm not counting the first season, of course, because that was a totally different game.

So what do you think? Is there something in the social dynamics of this game that makes it easier for women?

Note -- goes without saying, but no spoiler info here. I have no idea how the HOH competition is progressing besides what we already saw on the broadcast yesterday, and I don't want to know until tomorrow.

That's what they were saying about Survivor for a while, when Jenna, Sandra, and Amber whipped off three lady-wins in a row, and Vanuatu looked to make it Number Four...but what's this? Who's this Chris you speak of? The guy who was earmarked for the first boot in Vanuatu managed to WIN? Oh, and let's not forget Tom Westman, the greatest Survivor ever to play the game, and Aras, the cockroach of Exile Island.

I will say this - Survivor makes it easier for a man to run the table, and that's often what their strengths are. Men are voted out for being "threats" but they have the chance to save themselves more often. In BB, the competitions are often times more scattershot, with anyone having the chance to win, so we see as many male winners as female winners. However, the men are often dismissed as threats anyway. The pattern follows Survivor an awful lot, especially this season, when three of the first four boots were women, but starting with Kaysar, six of the next seven boots were men.

Also, in BB, there seems to be a lot more "coupling." This season has Operation Double Date, Season 3 had the Couples alliance, and Season 4 had people scoring in the house. Lest we forget the marriage proposal of Season 2. A lot of this can favor women. In a couple, no one looks to cut off the mfemale head of it. Rob was the bad guy in Rob and Amber, the most successful couple in reality show history. Given the choice between Eric and Lisa in BB3, HOH Gerry broke the tie by evicting Eric, who was never heard from again while Lisa went on to win. In BB6, James was the target between himself and Sarah, and he only saved himself by winning the POV.

Name me a woman who's really been backdoored, even this season. Diane could have saved herself. So could Danielle. Alison and Nakomis were on the block when they played for POV. Last season, James was deliberately backdoored. The time before that, Jase was deliberately backdoored. Has anyone tried to do that with Janelle? Nope. They can't even keep the POV out of her hands; it's as if they're handing it to her. That's why she looks so strong in competitions - she tries while everyone else screws around.

That's why men have difficulty winning the game; the women have an easier go of it. The men sort of make this mistake on their own, but when being a strong male competitor gets you out of the house, the only hope is to be a Will or a Chicken George and win nothing. And we all saw what happened to those two.
