I hope he gets over the awe shucks also. Though his awe shucks is the only one I find authentic. I always think he's going to explode everytime Ryan touches him after a song he seems wound so tight.

I would like someone to explain to me what people are seeing in this guy? Even Randy and Simon are predicting he'll make the final 4. Yes, he had his "Hallelujah" night, but that is really the only "wow" moment he's had, and it wasn't even a "WOW!" moment. I think his rendition of "Michelle" was terrible. All he did was walk back and forth and was laughing at some people in the crowd. I suspect it was family/friends. It was a very unprofessional performance. I don't get the guy. Anyone? Please enlighten me as to what i'm missing. geekboy "I love puppies!" - S. Cowell

LAST EDITED ON 03-24-08 AT 01:23 PM (EST)Geekboy, I wonder the same thing about David A. As for Jason C, I like him for being a breath of fresh air on AI. He is very personable when he sings, he sparkles, engages the audience, draws them in. On some songs he has the nice, easy going voice that is enjoyable to listen to. I can see him developing over the years. I think he is a bit green to be the AI winner. He doesn't have much savvy yet and comes across as a goofball many times in the interview segments. There doesn't appear to be any pretense or calculation about Jason...he is what he is and he is comfortable with himself. He could just as easily be sitting under a tree on campus playing his guitar and singing a song as he could be on the stage. He is just plain likeable. And he is not pre-packaged like David A. IMO Simon is mentioning Jason right now because he is selling well on itunes. The top 6 selling contestants are Brooke, David A, David C, Carly, Jason, and Michael. Carly was just bottom-three'd and Michael hasn't hit his stride yet, so the top 4 of the moment that Simon can support are Brooke, David A, David C, and Jason. I expect we'll see Simon's list change as the season unfolds and some memorable performances happen. For the moment, Jason's Hallelujah is one of the most memorable performances of the season. Randy mentioned the following traits for the winner of AI on one of those Idol extra shows--the one Justin G hosts: --Do they have the vocal chops? --Do they have star potential? --Are they cool? (could they be in the dawg pound) And then he said: "it's going to be about a boy this year" I think David C or Michael J seem to fit Randy's description better than Jason C. P.S. Jason's studio recording of Michelle is the 9th largest selling of the studio recordings so far; If I Fell is 7th.
In the any American Idol list, Hallelujah is number 4 overall for any contestant this season.

Starting last week, they put out the studio recordings which are full length renditions of whatever they performed on stage--so around twice the length or more. They also started selling the actual performance video--so that is what-you-saw-on-stage 90 seconds or so version. Before last week they sold the 90-120 second or so versions--so in Jason's case, Hallelujah is just the 1:45 length, while the studio recording of Michelle is 2:45. The performance video of Michelle is 2:05. In Michael J's case, his studio songs are longer: the studio recording of Across the Universe is 3:44 and A Day In The Life is 3:34.
The performance video of ATU is 1:59 in length; ADITL is 2:10. An earlier songs like Don't You Forget About Me is 1:45--there was no studio recording version of that one.

Boner basically took my response, as I WILL buy Jason's CD and play it while gathered on the deck sipping margaritas and cooking steaks on the grill. Or just sitting on the swing by myself watching the sun set.Archie - I can't imagine buying anything of his in a million years. I have Johnson and love him. Castronaut prettied up by the Agman

Are you saying you thought he was boring? I don't think he is (or was) at all. I think the songs he chose were fine. I don't think he is cut out for this television show (I refuse to call it a talent competition... it's high time they cut the crap and call it a game show. uh. heh heh heh. I said "high time"). He just doesn't shine on that stage in that environment but I still think he's really, really good. When all is said and done? that? is what I care about. Whose music do I want to hear? Jason's #2 on that list.

Here's the deal, I like Jason, but he always seems ripped out of his mind. And his pants are a little too tight as well. I like his layed back vibe though. He is probably my favorite now that Carly and Michael were both kicked off. Everyone else is starting to bore me.

forgive me if all of this has been posted elsewhere, but I just wanted to add my thoughts. I don't think Jasons performance last night was a train wreck, if it weren't for him and David Cook, I would have stopped watching long ago. They have been my favorites from the beginning & I would purchase both of their CDs. Jason has a definite indie vibe - reminds me in a way of Devendra Banhart. The thing that's the best about him & probably his downfall is that he doesn't fit the AI mold. The judges can't control him & he is just in his groove, which seems to be a pretty happy place. The "Because it's Bob Marley!" response to Simon just said it all.

I love Jason Castro and have been voting for him like crazy but last night he blew it and for him to get through instead of Syesha wouldn't be right or fair. I hope they all get some sort of contract or recording deal out of this experience but Jason doesn't deserve to get through tonight. Sorry Jason

nailbone, it's funny how people of like mind can differ so!I didn't think Michael or Carly should have gone as soon as they did, but I didn't mind either of them going before Brooke and/or Jason. I would have like to see Syesha and Cook going out earlier than either/any of them of them. On season 5, Daughtry didn't deserve to go out before Taylor Hicks, who should not have won that season. Daughtry probably also shouldn't have gone out before Elliot, but at least Elliot could sing. Kat should have won that season, hands down. If there's any truth to this competition, it's that (other than Fantasia) strong African-American female singers go out before their time; witness Latoya London, Tamyra Gray, etc. Maybe Syesha this season is a come-back for those losses. But overall, it IS a popularity contest. And when national popularity contests come down to the American Public to decide, and it matters how many times you vote, you can bet that the teen girl audience, for the most part, is going to decide the winner.

73. "A dedication to Jason" |
LAST EDITED ON 05-07-08 AT 08:25 PM (EST)Through early morning fog I see visions of the things to be The pains that are withheld for me I realize and I can see . . . That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. I try to find a way to make all our little joys relate Without that ever-present hate but now I know that it’s too late, and . . .That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. The game of life is hard to play. I’m gonna lose it anyway. The losing card I’ll someday lay so this is all I have to say. That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. The only way to win is cheat and lay it down before I’m beat, and to another give my seat for that’s the only painless feat. That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. The sword of time will pierce our skins it doesn’t hurt when it begins But as it works its way on in the pain grows stronger . . . watch it grin, but . . . That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. A brave man once requested me to answer questions that are key 'Is it to be or not to be' and I replied 'oh why ask me?' That suicide is painless it brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please. And you can do the same thing if you choose. ETA: I wonder how many peeps know what this is from?
