PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats, but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are encouraged to read the complete guidelines. As entertainment critic Roger Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

"A Different Different Perspective"
LAST EDITED ON 12-16-05 AT 03:10 PM (EST)

Someone offered the following flawed analogy:

"Lets say your kid spends 6 months getting ready for a spelling bee. The runner up can not spell as well as your child. she misses part of the last word. Your kid gets it right. The announcer claims they both won. How would you feel?"

Here's the true analogy:

Your kid rightfully wins the spelling bee and is fully recognized for doing so. Her prize is that she gets her tuition paid for two weeks at brainiac camp next summer where she'll get to further hone her skils. The announcer says to your kid, "If you approve it, we'll ALSO sponsor the 2nd place kid to attend brainiac camp since the judges and others have been very impressed with him too." And your kid says, "Naaaa. I won, and I should be the only person going to brainiac camp."

In my way of thinking, everyone lost in this scenario.
