c_ya_so 53 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Hollywood Squares Square" 06-21-06, 11:28 AM (EST) "christina has hit a bottom low!" christina is now selling used leg warmers from her grandmother. apparently she is calling them "vintage" and she is sewing on buttons and stuff. she wants you/us to buy them for her son's "party fund" she is having a big b-day bash for him and she is begging us to buy them. you can see these "used items" on her blog. i think she is running out of things to sell. her barbie went for $10 , her last 2 hats went for $15 and $20. ooops christina, i think your 15 minutes are soooooo OVER!! !!!!!!!   Top

By selling things on Ebay, it looks like to me that is what she is doing. She is doing whatever she can not to go out and hustle anymore. She is honest on where the things came from and what she is going to use the money for. I think it is great what she is doing, she is using her tools that she received on the show, how to make money without selling yourself. She is starting out small, but most people do. Legwarmers are not interesting to me, but some may like them. I say go Christina.   Top

I tend to agree with your take on begging for the care of her son. It sounds as if she is being more manipulative than simply being honest. My feeling: What happened to a good old fashioned E-D-U-C-A-T-I-O-N?!!! Somehow they just forget to mention the well known statistics about the average incomes with vs. without an education. Oh sure, we all know someone who is doing well with just a high school degree but we also know that is very unusual. Besides, given the very rare successful individual's circumstances, creativity, work ethic, and other qualities, what might he/she be making if they'd had that education ... might be doing even better or have arrived sooner. Who knows. However, statistics show ... GET THEE TO SCHOOL! Shame on SO & the LCs for not stressing this! Christina seemed smart enough to do fine in college and there is plenty of grants, scholarships (based on need), and low interest rate students loans available ... especially for single moms. There is also free child care at many colleges. There is no reason she couldn't get a college degree. It would also help her self-esteem.   Top

Everything that goes around, comes around. Leg warmers got their start way before the 1980's. There once was a time when girls were not allowed to wear anything but skirts. And, little girls were not allowed to wear long skirts, any more than little boys wore long pants. Even then, depending upon where you lived, it could still get cold. My grandmother was graduated from college in the mid-1800's. Leg warmers were not unheard of even then. And, were certainly known when she was a little girl. I went to Christina's myspace to see if she is selling her stuff there and here's what I found... She has posted about things that she is doing and selling but there is an element missing that you will find with Jill and Christie. It seems to me that she is being creative and resourceful. She doesn't sell her stuff or herself in the name of Starting Over. She doesn't try to make you feel that you just have to have this item because it was made by Christina of Starting Over fame (where have we heard those words before?). We all know that she isn't all that well spoken and not the best writer but - well - it looks to me like she is trying and trying hard. She is actually making the items she is selling, not buying them for a few cents at the dollar store and then hawking them in the name of celebrity. I went to ebay and looked at her stuff. Again, she doesn't sell her stuff in the name of Starting Over fame. Here are the descriptions of the items she has sold. I personally hand made this hat out of a special yarn that matts up when you wash it and dry it. It has already been pre shrunk. I have had this type of hat in my personal collection for months now and am constantly getting comments from people on how much they love my hat. The greatest thing about this hat is it looks great on everyone. NO JOKE. I have yet to find anyone that says they don't like the way it looks on them. This specific hat is a multi colored yarn mainly brown with highlights of pink, yellow, blue and green. This is the 1994 holiday barbie with gold dress in perfect in box condition! Brand new! Minor dent on side of box. Email me with any questions. I hand made this hat out of multi colored gray yarn, it is so soft and isn't a very thick hat so it will be breezy enough to wear in the summer. There is a cute pink button on the very top center of the hat to give it a very chic look. I don't know if she has slipped back into her old life and frankly, I don't really care. But it looks to me like she is working hard, being creative, being resourceful and honest which is much more that anyone can say for Jill or Christie. And the painting... meh. It's really not that bad and someone will enjoy having it in their home. JMHO God is good all the time and all the time, God is good.   Top

I'm a big fan of Christina. I saw some of Season three the first time but I am watching most of it on reruns. I read that she is working in her father's store. I think that shows she was serious about her plan to make changes in her life. Working with her father who she said she did not have much of a relationship with growing up is a big change. I'm really happy for her and I have no problem with ebay sales. Loads of people sell things on ebay and it is usually for fun. Christina comes off as a really strong and intelligent and very beautiful young lady and I have no doubt her future will be bright. I think she put up with an enormous amount of crap on the show, and even though all the participants did she was at times treated with cruelty. That was very, very wrong IMO. Leaving her past really should not have been played up as an issue of honor as much as moving foward into something more productive, safe and rewarding with a future. Her manipulation and hustling from her past look more like skills to me than it does personality flaws. After all, she succeeded in what she did and she survived where many women do not. That girl is strong as nails in my book and given the opportunity, she will go places.   Top

Hi Everyone....I've been off the boards for a while....and after reading your comments concerning Christina's new projects, I have to wonder why is it that she can't see that she's still young and can alter her life as it has been suggested by going back to school and obtaining some type of career training if she's not interested in pursuing a college degree....there's nothing wrong with sells on E-Bay, however, it's not steady income....if she's working for her dad in the computer store...(she seemed to be computer literate on the show)... why not entertain this as a career choice? It seems to me that she's lazy and manipulative and looking for the easy route to success....(that roads paved with wannabees who are still waiting on opportunity)...the best thing she can do for her son is educate herself...she's back in the fold with her family and should use this opportunity to pursue a legitimate career while she has help with Jackson...when will she learn that she can't live like she desires without first putting forth the effort to prepare herself for future job opportunities....afterall, preparation is the key to success. Remember, the girl has only had her GED for less than a year now...AND that wasn't why she came in the house. IMO sometimes it takes people awhile before they understand the value of education AND school is not the best path for everyone. You also have to bear in mind that it's just been over a year since she was stripping. I guess I see it as one step at a time. The fact that she's doing anything other than using her body to make money right now...I see as a win. It seems to me that she's lazy and manipulative and looking for the easy route to success.... I think the fact that she has a job AND is working on other projects trying to make money is pretty impressive. ...afterall, preparation is the key to success. The best time to start her classes would've been as soon as she finished the GED...I guess she wasted time with her "mentor" and although she's working now, she can attend school at night or fit classes in between her job and other activities. Selling on E-Bay is much better than selling herself on the streets...but, she needs to aspire to do more with her life if she wants to become successful and not have to depend on others for the welfare of her self and her son. I think manipulation is still very much a part of Christina's character and it makes her lazy (IMO) because she's good at it and uses it as a tool to get ahead instead of putting her nose to the grind to get what she wants with a sense of accomplishment. I initially liked Christina, but soon saw her manipulative ways and it was a big obstacle for me. Having a job with her father isn't exactly where she wants to be...she could've had that before she became a stripper or escort....she definitely (IMO)wants a life with little effort on her behalf...compared to her previous life, it is progress, but she could do more to secure her future....JMHO...nothing more. ...afterall, preparation is the key to success. Have to agree with you there...the thing of it is that we have no idea what she is being prepared for...so who knows, she just may be exactly where she needs to be. And as far as the title of this thread is concerned, it seems to me that selling stuff on ebay hardly should be considered a "bottom low" compared to what Christina has done in the past. I also think selling a few items on ebay is something many, many people are perfectly capable of doing AS WELL AS pursuing other goals such as working in a full time job or taking classes. Partial mastectectomy and sentinel node biopsy on June 6th. Was looking forward to (huge eye roll) 4 months of treatment (radiation and chemothery) starting mid-July but had another mammography before starting the brachytherapy during which two more spots showed up. Radiologist says he can't do anything until the new areas are biopsied. So tomorrow I get to undergo two back-to-back biopsies. Hoping they are benign but my luck ran out when I got the original diagnosis so.....whatever happens happens. If cancerous, maybe another partial mastectomy before the chemo and radiation or just tempted to get a mastectomy and reconstruction to get it over with. In the words of Allison, it's not good. But guess it could be worse. Tired of the doctors...and all of the drama of waiting for the pathology reports. So with the new spots it's like starting from the beginning. Can't seem to get past go. But at least I know what to expect cuz I've done it all before. My goal is to be the world's worst patient. Owwww, I say before even being touched. What'd I'd like to say to the doc tomorrow : Doc, I need morphine STAT! She'd respond : Are you having pain? Then I'd say : No, I just need some morphine. Well, take care.   Top

It's a looks to be a long road back to health. A day at a time proposition. Both of the biopsies came back positive, one DCIS and the other invasive. Not what I had hoped for, but what I got. The Dr. recommended a full mastectomy and lymph node removal, the most aggressive treatment because my cancer is high grade. I was angry because I had been taking my mammograms yearly in order to catch the disease early so I hopely wouldn't have to undergo such drastic measures. It hasn't turned out that way, so I felt shafted. SHAFTED! I looked for every alternative to the mastectomy but common sense prevailed : Diseased flesh must go. So I dawdled in order to have some extra time with my breast. I wanted to take it to Mallorca, but there wasn't time or money, so I wined and dined it (my breast), wooed it at home. The last week was the most poignant as I was very mindful of every activity being the last time with my breast. And I apologized to it over and over and over again. So the twins are no more (and I'm not talking about the twin towers!). September 18, I went on the chopping block. Had a right mastectomy with a latissimus flap and a silicone implant. 5 drains after surgery (ouch)! Recovering slowly....headed for months of chemo treatment. Just hope to get it over with so I can have some fun next summer because this one was wasted fooling around with the doctors. Also will have to have a breast reduction on my left breast so it will match the right. The only good news is that I got to keep my lymph nodes, my decision, which I could regret in the future. The mastectomy sight looks hideous. It will be interesting to see what it eventually turns out to be. I went abstinent from alcohol in April but have started to drink a glass of wine daily as it is supposed to be helpful in fighting cancer. (laugh, giggle, snort) I deserve some fun with this bitchin' disease, don't I? (and mixing the wine with the oxycodone isn't so bad either) So that's it. Soon to be titless and bald. Can it get any better? Where is the oxycodone? I need another oxycodone. But people lose body parts everyday and losing a breast is no different so...I'm not that special. Well, thanks for listening. Keep taking your mammograms even though they may not bring good news. I found myself missing the show last week. Found myself missing LazyLisa, Allisham, SnootyRhonda, ShrillIyanla..... everyone. This cancer is making me infinitely wise and I have seen the need to take total responsibility for one's life. And if you can't or don't, you shouldn't show up on national tv whining about dis or dat expecting the world to feel sorry for you. And if you are a goof-off or thief or whatever then accept it, but don't expect others to get caught up in your personal drama, internal struggles. Donald Trump was on Larry King last night and he said there have been a few successful Apprentice candidates who became so enamored of the cameras that they were more interested in getting into the movies than in working in his organization. Guess they were seduced by the bright lights which I am sure happened on Starting Over too. "Sure I'll cry on cue", just put me on camera. And this just cheapens life...and the therapeutic process. Only tolerable if you take it all with a grain of salt. I thought that new fellow, Dr. Ablow, would be a replacement for the show but it hasn't really. The only thing he is blowing is chunks. Maybe his name should be IBlowChunks. A psychiatrist doing therapy? When did this happen? Of course, he is in the process of writing a book. And the show is probably just a launching pad for it.
