"Fame, Episode 4"
I know I've said a LOT of bad things about this show and the contestants. I haven't turned over a new leaf on the show, I still think the Debbie Allen then is an issue... but she is the producer, co-host, choreographer, and, I'm guessing, "Fame" Goddess.

Now I haven't been impressed by anybody in this show except for Serena and Jemison. BUT Haarlem. I did enjoy his performance, and I think for somebody to really impress me on "Fame" says a lot (at least for those of you who've read my posts).

Last night's show was okay, I didn't watch much of it because of the Nets game, but I did see some of each performer.

So now that it's down to the Top 12, I hope Serena, Jemison, and Haarlem make it to the end.

I had a problem with Harlemm's crying. This boy can turn on the waterworks. Also, if you put a wig on him, he'd be a great drag queen. Not that it's a bad thing, but I have to admit I have seen waaaaaay too many drag shows in my day, and don't need to see another one

I thought that only that redhead girl was good. All the rest of last night's peeps were mediocre at best. This was by far the weakest semifinal round of the four.

The judges did a good job of selecting the best twelve, I do have to give them credit. I'm rooting for Alex Boyd (of round one).

Debbie needs to be silenced, I've had enough of her. Can somebody take care of Carnie while we are at it

What is up with most of them crying anyway? I'm sorry, but I was giggling when Harlemm was blubbering. I think you need to have a lot of backbone in that type of business because of all the critisism. Anyway, I liked him and agree that the judges picked the best top 12. My only complaint is most of the girls singing slutty show tunes. That tall girl last night did a lot of dancing and grunting but not much singing. I'm looking forward to next week's show.

I don't understand all the crying either. I keep expecting Richard Simmons to explode on the scene with a box of kleenex.

I've missed this weeks shows due to my night class, so I'm going to head over to the site now. I am sad I missed last night because I wanted to make catty comments about the tall girl. I have hated her since I first laid eyes on her.

For the most part, I enjoyed last night's show. Haarlem was very good. I also liked Moy. For not having any real formal training she is pretty good "raw" talent. Serena is definitely one of the top performers.

I have to disagree with you about Debbie Allen. I think she is great. I think it takes a lot to get out there and perform, but it doesn't take much to criticize. The judges are doing a really good job in giving "constructive criticism." I like that they always try to find at least one positive thing to say to the contestants. I think if I put my whole heart into a performance and had to listen to "constructive criticism," then I would more then welcome Debbie Allen's comforting comments. It just really sucks when your best just isn't good enough. Clearly some of the contestants outshine others, but I think that it is nice that Debbie still tries to end it all on a positive note. Plus I think it helps that she is a very talented lady and knows how it feels to be up there on that stage.

Does anyone know if the voting is going to work the same as it does in AI?

Of the performances last night, I enjoyed Harlemm's and Moy's the best. But I wish they would do away with those "heart-rending" moments. Okay already, I get that every contestant has a dream, that (music, dance, singing) has been their solace when the world didn't understand them, that they are doing this for their (mother, father, grandmother).

I liked Harlemm's performance even though his singing wasn't powerful, but he did take control of that stage and got the crowd into it. Same for Moy - she projected a real confidence. Although I wasn't crazy about the song, she was very sexy in a natural way, versus the tall girl who used the "dance bar". That kind of vampiness seems phony and forced, and often too mature for the young girls who are performing. Moy's performance didn't feel vampy, but sexy, sweet and sassy.

I must say I haven't heard so many Liza Minelli-esque show tunes in a long time, and I hope they do away with them in the next phase - enough already!

Also - what was up with the tall girl last night? Does she hate Debbie Allen? You know how Debbie comes out after the performance, and puts her arm around the contestant - mostly it's a big love fest up there. But this girl either does not like to be touched or doesn't like Debbie and kept her arms behind her back the whole time. But I wish I had eyes like hers - they were beautiful.
