"Unofficial Summary: Remember my Name Fame!" |
Remember my Name Fame! I’m gonna live forever, I’m gonna learn how to fly high! I feel it coming together, people will see me and cry Fame!Fame happened to be one of my all time favorite shows off the past. Who could forget such people like Leroy and Coco? The song is one of the best TV and movie theme songs. So it was with high expectations that I sat down, watched this, and said what the hell, I will summarize this. I watch as the semifinalists come dancing across my screen, singing some little ditty about Working. Which is more than I can say for Leroy, unless you count being a crack ho in Europe which is where he is rumored to be. How about the Hot Lunch song, you know, the “Macaroni and Bologna, tuna fish my favorite dish instead of this Working song? Anyway, tonights featured performers sing their names and do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight. Hey, is that, no it can’t be. Mark from Rent and Oprah? I thought an N’Suck member and Debbie Allen were hosting this thing. Let me adjust my contacts. Yep, it is Joey Fatone but I refuse to think of him as an N’Suck member since he starred in Rent, which is a totally kickass Broadway musical. I shall now refer to him as Mark from Rent. Debbie, I thought I saw your dress on Oprah last week. They explain the rules to us and introduce the judges. There’s Johnny Wright, Mark from Rent’s manager. Gee, wonder how he got this job. Carnie Wilson. Insert your own weight loss joke here. And Jo-jo Wright. He looks a lot like Joey McIntyre from the New Kids. Or maybe I am on Boy Band overload. He’s a DJ and Mark from Rent was totally sucking up to him. Brandon O’Neil is the first contestant up. He tells us that when he grows up, he wants to be like Michael Jackson, but not a sissy. I swear, I didn’t make that up. He is singing “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder. I wish he would get a matching outfit that fit him correctly. The judges verdict? Johnny told him that if he himself could have sing like this MJ wanna be, he would have gotten laid more in high school. Carnie was freaked out. And Jo-jo, (what kind of name is that anyway) told him he was easily marketable. Yeah whatever. Next up is Alanis Morrisette, I mean Michelle. She just looks like Alanis with shorter hair and a lot less anger. I do sense some anger in her however, because she is missing the prom. She is singing Allanah Myles “Black Velvet” I think you will be able to serve your next term as President of your Senior Class because your version sucked. All the judges agreed with me. Debbie loved her. After commercial we are treated with a surprise crossover guest. It’s Paul McCrane from the Fame movie, now Dr Romano on ER. I am so excited! I hope he sings, “I Sing the Body Electric” Oh wait, it’s Todd, the Cinderfella. I know this because Dr Romano would NEVER wear a shirt like that. But it was hard to tell them apart at first because they both have huge ears. Todd sings "Overjoyed" by Stevie Wonder. I am overjoyed when this song is over. Judges also agreed with me in thinking that he sucked. Debbie loved him. Serena is next. She looks like Coco from Fame, kinda. Because of this, I immediately declare her my favorite and hope she wins the whole thing. She sings, “I’m Every Woman”by Chaka Khan. I found nothing to bash her about, she totally rocked the house. After commercial we are subjected to crybaby Ryan. He has some deep psychological problems stemming from the fact that he was wearing what looked like legwarmers. Ryan dear, those went out in the 80s. He sang “Dancing in the Streets” Let me tell you this. There was no dancing in the streets like there was in the movie when the father comes to the Fame school and plays the theme song. No one danced on cars or anything. Again, the judges were in agreement with me. He sucked. Jameson was last to go. I have to say this Jameson. Wearing a midriff is a privilege, not a right. That look does not suit you. She sings Toni Braxton’s “You’re Makin me High” Well, she made Jo-jo a tad bit uncomfortable because in his evaluation of her, he asked her for her number and if she would sleep with him after the show. After another round of commercials, we get the dance part. It was painful and we all knew who was gonna win anyway. Mark from Rent tells us that Serena, Brandon and Jameson are moving onto the next round. No word yet on if Jo-jo got lucky

WOW, T! A great summary and how did you finish it so quickly! Loved the Fame references. I saw that movie (was it 1980?!) as part of a Fame/Little Foxes (yes, the Jodie Foster classic) double feature. But ya know, if we've got to hear the same songs we heard on AI, can someone with even just a bit of talent perform them? I have yet to see one contestant that really impressed me. What would Simon say...maybe Theme Park, perhaps Cruise Ship talent here. I hope it gets better in the finals. Serena was the best tonight, by far, and Trenyce still kicked her butt on "I'm Every Woman." Debbie Allen makes Paula Abdul seem snarky. Can't stand these judges. I don't really like this show but after two episodes, I guess I'm in for the long haul now.

debbie allen muzzled...lol..you could just see the defensive look in her eyes as the judges got real! i did like her "come with mama" quip for the losers at the end of first show.....that was kind. i think carnie is "too sure of how good SHE is" to be so judgemental...but hey she's the judge... why joey fatone...i fast forward through all the mumbo jumbo and watch the audition....and well so far i don't like any of them. i guess "?" will be going back as the class president next year. how embarassing... i too am in for the long haul....why oh why do i get caught up in this stuff... mollytv

Excellent!Every time I watch ER, I want Dr. Romano to start singing "Dogs in the Yard". After Serena finished singing, Mr. Bebo said, "If she doesn't make the finals, there is something seriously wrong with the show." She was awesome! There was always something unnatural about Trenyce's performances that felt tacked on for the stage, but Serena commands the stage and shows her love of performing. Add me to the Serena Fan Club! Nice job T. I had a problem with Serena in the since that she had five years learning how to perform on a stage with her Gladess Knight run. So to me, she was nothing special, in fact if she had not learned how to do it by then she really was a nothing. I said the above to my husband and he said that others had experience too, yeah as kids, and not a five year run with a well known singer. I think she is too much of a already professional to be allowed to compete with this group. Just my opinion. "Do you know, I always thought unicorns were fabulous monsters, too? I never saw one alive before!" "Well, now that we have seen each other," said the unicorn, "if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you." Lewis Carroll; Through the Looking Glass
