"Still Standing Tour" |
Alonzo, Gary, and Jay are appearing at the Tampa Improv this weekend. All shows were sold out. The St. Petersburg Times posted a really positive review of the show in the paper today. I do not know how to post a link, but in summing it up - the reviewer said that NBC got it right with these 3 comics. He liked Jay, really liked Gary, and said Alonzo, was by far the best. He only had minor criticisim for Jay and Gary and had no criticisim at all for Alonzo's set.

1. "RE: Still Standing Tour" |
Just saw the Still Standing Tour in Pittsburgh last night. It was a sold out show. I really had a good time. Jay opened the night, and was well received. He was far better in person than on t.v. Alonso, appeared second, and was the hit of the night. I couldn't believe how much better he was than on t.v. He said they sensored most of his material for television and advised him to stay away from controversial jokes. But when he let loose, it was great. Gary was a bit disappointing. I had voted for Gary during the show. I was expecting better and he tried, but his material wasn't that great. Alonso was definately the best. After the show they signed autographs (for $5 each) and Alonso and Gary had their CDs for sale for $15 each. They wouldn't let you take pictures during the show, but were willing to pose afterwards. They were all very personable and talkative. I was particularly impressed how nice Jay was to talk to. It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend going if you get the chance.
