Agree CG,I don't know how he made it through that episode. If it was not for the fact that he barely talks to the girls yet and glazes over when they ask him questions, he would blow his cover. Hopefully as he gets used to "deceiving these women" he will get more comforatable with it, but as the show showed, he is going to get more upset with it as he finds out he likes some of them, and is lying to them. And whats with the butler guy and the woman, She comes off as cold as a robot, and he is just creepy IMO. Oh well any other thoughts on this show. Also isn't it funny how many ladies said they wanted a go getter who was finacially sound and made lots of money and had ambition. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I thought the toady butler was hilarious. It looks like he is channeling Alastair Cooke's introductions of the original Masterpiece Theater series on PBS. He is sitting by a similar fire, in a wingback chair with books behind him while he does his intro & conclusion pieces--just like Alastair did. Only thing--Alastair was smart & good-looking. Toad is neither. Then in the segment where he taught Joe how to use a fork and drink from a glass, he seemed to channel Henry Higgins teaching Eliza Doolittle how to behave like a lady. I wish they had used 'The Rain in Spain' for background music there. I think he is very funny, but not intentionally so which is probably why it works for me. The Trading Spaces woman, Alex McCloud is her name I think, as den mother for the Golddiggers really caught me by surprise. I hope she remembered to bring her 'Alex Cam', so that when Joe finally starts to do the women (20 women in 24 days--is that right?)(instead of 2 rooms in 2 days) we can get nice close-ups of the action.

I kept wondering why they bothered changing his last name. I mean, they told us his name, so it's not a secret or anything, so why give this guy one more thing to remember?I, too, loved the butler after Evan said "red" for the salmon... "and what is salmon?" Doh! Unlike the Bachelor(s), where the guy has gotten off fairly easy, I have a feeling that Fox will give Evan just as much heat as the women.

Chow,I was also wondering why they changed his name, then I watched and realized with Bank workers and loan agents on the show, they could possibly call the states and have some friends in the financial world track down his assets or something like that. They may then find out his salary and the fact that no money has come his way IRL. by keeping his last name a secret, they could not snoop and find out the real story behind his inheritance? Thoughts.

I want to see the women that leave being told he doesn't have money. It would be interesting to see if they are still unhappy about losing. It would make some of them feel like the winners. They got a free trip to France and now they no longer will be made fools of on TV.

LAST EDITED ON 01-08-03 AT 04:54 PM (EST)>Well, a woman like that would more than likely drop his not >for being poor, but for lying to them. If they >see past the rich, what is left? A liar. Yes, but what if Paul the Butler or Alex the Host comes out and says to the finalist, "we told him to pretend to be a multi-millionaire?" Surely the girl wouldn't hold it against him as a liar knowing he was told to play that role... but the question is, would they step up to tell the girl? I don't think so, at least not on the show itself or until well after Evan is left to get slapped in the face, so to speak. Another thought... what's going to stop Evan from blurting out at the moment of truth that he's told to play a role, don't shoot the messenger - other than the threat of a lawsuit?
