"Red Eye" is a news/current events talk show that I've read described as the "McLaughlin Group on steroids". It reminds me of OT here - it's funny, snarky, irreverent, weird, shocking, off-the-wall, and snide. It's other things , too. They have running jokes and an ombudsman. A host, his second banana, then several recurring guests, some of whom are funnier than others. A sampling: a mortician, an ex-CIA guy, comedians (like Sherrod Small, who is very funny), gossips (Ted Casablance, etc), an ex-British Intelligence guy (Kevin Godlington, who is dreamy).
And it works, somehow. Most nights induce laughter from the camera- and behind-the-scenes people. Loud laughter. Rolling laughter. Sometimes the laughter goes on so long, the host yellls "Shut up, people!"
The bad news:
1) It's on FOX, a station which I tend to avoid (I watch Keith Olbermann, also not a fan of FOX).
2) It's on at 3 a.m. ET. Not a good time to gather a wide audience, but this show is not for the masses, anyway.
3) The host is a right-leaning, ex-editor of Maxim magazine named Greg Gutfeld. I don't agree with his politics but he has a twisted sense of humor which I enjoy. I mean, he loves unicorns and The Sex Pistols, how can you not like the man?
(if one could imagine Estee with a touch of PRE in the mix, then you have an idea of how I interept him).
4) The web site promoting the show is confusing. I struggle with it - it may just be the way it's put together or I'm just too impatient or stupid, I don't know. Not a fan of the web site, but here it is, anyway:

On the weekend, it's on at 1 a.m. and it's a rerun of one of the better shows during that week. I hope some people here check it out. I know I'm not the only lurker here at 3 a.m. Go on, you know you want to
! I don't expect very many replies; just wanted to voice my love for "Red Eye".
