I searched for a Journeyman thread and didn't find one, so if I missed it...sorry. This is another show that's growing on me. Is the not-really-dead fiance the girl that played with Taye Diggs in Day Break? I kind of feel sorry for the wife. I'm not sure how they came about getting married, but there's no way I would ever date/marry a relative's ex. Any watchers?  Tummy

I just watched the 1st ep on the NBC website last night. My Lovely Bride sat down and watched most of it, too.Like someone said elsewhere, it started slow but ended very well. I am not sure I caught all the subtle visual clues I was supposed to. It seems a little demanding that way, like CSI or XFiles at it's peak. I plan to watch the 2nd ep sometime soon with LB can watch it with me. I hope the show will make it. I am a McKidd fan. Thought he was great in Rome. His voice sounded really weird to me in Ep 1, though. I think I was expecting to hear the British accent.

I like the 2nd episode more than the first. It was a nice "bridge" from the intro episode into the ones I expect to come along with more recurring plot lines.I have to admit. I don't find the Bloodgood woman all that attractive. For pure hotness and screen presence, the woman playing Dianna (the mom) Bloom was far more interesting to me. I just checked the ep on IMDB and she is Annie Wersching.

The new wife or the old (time-travelling fiance?)I don't like the new wife either. She seems to be clawing and...possessive isn't the word I am looking for. I got a bad vibe from her when she was lusting McKidd back when she was married to Cop Brother. I haven't read ANY spoilers. But my gut feeling is that McKidd will do something in one of the episodes that will fix Cop Brother's marriage to Grabby Wife. And that will clear the decks for McKidd to get back together with Jumping Fiance. But I am only guessing.

I think it is a mystery that is being answered SLOWLY, and she hasn't begun to answer him. 2. Why did she not know Dan is married to Katy? I think she did. She didn't seem surprised when he said her. Did she really die but can still Leap backward from the time of the plane crash? Definitely no death. She admitted in Ep 2 that she got off the plane (I assume leapt) before the crash. 3. How long is it going to take for Katy and copbrother to have an affair? I am guessing Ep 6 (last night was Ep 4) / Livia and Dan? He is written as more noble, so probably Ep 7 or 8 4. Why wasn't Livia surprised Dan was a Leaper? I think it was her that pulled him into the leap. Does she have pull on who gets to Leap? I think so. Have you noticed that he seems to leap at whichever time will most torque off Katy? 5. Who else loves Dan's boss? I think he's cool. I thought you asked "who is his boss?" meaning who is leaping him around. I think that the tachyon scientist has something to do with the leaps.

I liked it.*Spoiler alert* The episode was based on the DB Cooper heist (though they changed the name). Dan literally bumped into him after a poorly-timed jump. I liked that the Cooper-character wasn't a cold-blooded thief. He was stealing the money to get a family out of Cambodia to repay a kindness during the Vietnam War. There was an interesting sub-plot involving Dan's 7 yr old son. He was with Dan in a crowd when Dan disappeared the first time. then he watched Dan disappear later in the episode. At the end he told Dan that he "saw his magic" and was Ok with it. I liked that touch. I think the Livermore scientist is behind the leaping. If not, he certainly knows about it. We meet Dan's dad in 1975. Hardboiled photojournalist. He abandoned Dan and his mom when Dan was 7. I wonder if Dan's dad is a leaper, too.

Are Dan and Katie completely stupid? Tell me they did not send Dan out by himself with the child to go trick-or-treating! But I think they did.And I really don't think Livia is evil but I'm starting to think she's a guide. I so thought Dan was going to hear that the kid wasn't his when he was spying on Katie and the brother.

I still think that the boy is Dan's nephew, not his son. That way, when Dan eventually "fixes" the error in time when he marries Katie instead of Livia, the boy will still exist in our time line.I think Dan was banking on the fact that he just got back from a time trip, and doesn't travel again that soon. But I agree, it was a foolish gamble to take. When I saw the poor boy dressed as a LADY BUG!?!? I just cringed. I wonder how much therapy that will cost him down the road. Man up and let him be a pirate or football player if he wants. Both my Lovely Bride and I were big Quantum Leap fans back in the day. But we are not mutually hooked on Journeyman and we both appreciate the realistic twist that when Dan changes things in the past, it has RL consequences. Like when the uni-bomber guy was caught after the 1st one b/c of Dan. It is no longer a story his editor wants in 2007. That is cool. A bit hard to keep up with, but realistic.

I'm so glad that I didn't stop watching it after week 1. I loved QLeap too...I think this show will be more sophisticated in its explanations...only bc it's 20 years later I like this show's possibilities with changes and effects on Dan and his family...in QL they always had to keep things "the same" Until the last show that is when Sam tells Beth...that was probably one of my fave moments in tv history! Spank what do you mean "fixes" the error in time.. I missed something We need Journeyman siggies!

re: the fix. I am purely speculating here. But I think that one of the story arcs here is that Dan and Katie are wrong for each other. Katie wants to be with the cop brother. Dan wants to be with Livia (though I would personally pick the hot lady doctor who reminds me of a shorter version of my Lovely Bride).I am guessing that at some point Dan will fix the error that they all made. Dan and Livia will live ever after (maybe even happily). Katie and cop bro will live happily ever after with the son that is really not Dan's anyway, I would bet. Sorry to confuse you. I would wear a Journeyman siggie in the OT thread most of the time to generate pub for this show.

You might be right. My theory was a stab in the dark. But I still feel like the story arcs are going to converge at some point in the future and Dan will split with Katie so that she can go back to cop brother and Dan can go back to Livia.After last night, I am not sure Livia is working for the wrong side of the time jumpers, either. She really helped Dan. Speaking of her leaping, she certainly seemed to be able to leap more accurately and at will. Going into that closet when she did was PERFECT timing. Well for everyone except cop brother. An all-Livia episode would be a nice twist. Or even a Livia-centered episode would work. I agree. But I still don't think she's begin to come clean about how much more she knows about jumping and who is doing it. She HAS to know by now who's behind it. And while Dan might have been a faithless slob to jump into a relationship after 7 months, he wasn't the only one doing the tango. Katie had something to do with it, too. Hrrmmph, women!

I finally watched Monday's episode and I really enjoyed it and was happy to get a little bit more info.I'm torn between Tummy's & Spanky's thoughts about the possibility of Dan "fixing" his past to be with Livia. This episode, with Dan so frantically trying to make sure he didn't change the pivotal point in Katie & His relationship was really interesting. You could see Livia was very torn by the scenario as well. I would love to see Livia and Dan end up together sooner, rather than later, for many reasons. They are obviously meant for each other and Dan's life with Katie & "son," meddling cop brother & career all create huge obstacles. What I think would be a great episode is where Dan is in his past and does somehow change things so that Katie & Dan do not get together. Before Dan could fix it, he transports back to the present. Dan, obviously, would be devastated thinking that his son would not be born. He then finds Katie & Jack married and the "son" is still there, because son was Jack's after all. Now Dan's dilemma is does he leave things this way or does he go back to try to change it back where Dan still gets married to Katie? It's a bit convoluted, but I would love for that to happen. This way Dan's guilt could be assuaged and he could be with Livia and they could be bouncing all over time helping people and meeting up, trying to get their relationship back. Back to the actual episode. Ugh, can Jack get anymore annoying? I wanted to feel sorry for him in the beginning of this series with Dan marrying his former GF, but he is such a meddlesome jerk. Also, the female doc that Jack was dating the 2 eps prior, for some reason I had gotten a vibe from her that she knows something about Dan's time travel and was dating Jack to get close. I don't know why I thought that, but she was just asking so many questions, it seemed suspicious to me. I just can't wait to find out how/why Dan & Livia are traveling through time. With mysterious scientist coming back next week, hopefully we'll get more answers.

But I'm not getting any vibes that Dan is still in love with Livia. and Spanky....Katie was in love with Dan way before that night, but after only 7 months you'd think it would be to soon for Dan to move on. So double Hrmph, men!

My hunch he is the one with it and Katie truly believes that Dan was/is the father. My support? Truly personal. I can't stand Katie. Why would the wife be so disagreeable to me? Is it just me or is anyone else rooting for Livia and Dan?

This was the best show so far...so Livi could be Dan's grama! We saw Dan see his younger self...will we bump into Livi as an old woman? She appears to be in her early 30s or so...so she would be born WWI framework...That professor is definitley part of this. And if Dan gave the hijacking money to the kids in August 1974 will that change that the same money was what was stolen in 1975? What will change, if anything, about the investigation by FBI dude...will it turn into investigation that the professor feared...the gov't using Dan/Livi et al for "terrorism" control?

It's starting to make my head hurt! Dan's getting older but Livia is not? Because even if she lives in the past she should still have aged 7 years since the plane crash, right? To me the hijacking/money story should be done since he gave the money away the year before. It would have been other money with other serial numbers that were stolen so FBI shouldn't even be aware now in Dan's present time. I love they use music to set the time period when he jumps.

And I think he can sense that Katie would rather be settled down with Jack than married to him. The fact that she is going back to TV will pull her further away from him and push her closer to her old life with Jack. If I was Dan I would confront Dr. Langley and ask why he and Livia can't live together in peace and jump on a regular 9 to 5 work schedule. Seems fair to me. I do dangerous, unpaid, essential work. The LEAST I could ask would be decent hours and the chance to get some down time with the woman I love. Man the FBI guy couldn't have been cast to be more obnoxious or jerky, could he?

Ok I love this show more and more every week.I too love when things change via time travel ala BTTF. The 2nd one was by far my fave when all the changes occurred. But it has to be consistent or at least tell me why it isn't. We know that in new 2007 Dan and Jack did not have the "Bennett discussion" where Dan asked Jack to look into it when Bennett was still not arrested in old 2007 where Dan said a cabbie
sicced a cop on him for passing a 2003 20$ bill in 1995. Jack says "I never said a cabbie" so he starts to believe Dan.
But then what about the $$. Last week, he gives some of hijacking money to kids in August 1974 and the hijacking doesn't occur until 1975. Why would that money still be in the 1975 hijacking and the FBI man still is talking about Dan researching the hijacking in new 2007? What's up with that? FBI dude is still searching Dan Vasser and I think he will figure it out...but how would the new 2007 FBI dude even get on Dan's trail if the money wasn't the same?

I really like the consequence of him changing history "costing" him something. I loved Quantum Leap, but it always felt so hokey that Sam could make things right and it almost always ended happy.In the episode this week, I thought the forshadowing "Dan, you can't change things like that. Leave it ALONE!" was too heavy. But still, I have to admit that I am hooked. The show is so good that my Lovely Bride and I watch it together, and it's been years since we've done that consistently. I hope this show survives to be a hit. It certainly deserves that.

But I have to agree with the writers that they way it was resolved on screen made for a more fulfilling conclusion than your/my theory. Still thinking the kid is Dan's not Jack's. I still disagree. Though I guess that two biological brothers would probably have kids with very similar looks in that situation. What I am trying to say is that if Dan and Jack were real-life brothers, the only way to tell whose kid Zack was would be to DNA test him. Because their physical appearances would be so similar. Still...Zack looks more like young Jack to me than young Dan.

What are these "actors" of which you speak?!?!But the writers are (I hope) leaving clues for us to unravel. To me, Zack looks more like Jack than Dan. And I think that if the story gets to unfold as intended, we'll realize that. The conversation a few episodes ago where Jack was talking to Katie before Dan's wedding...and Katie told Jack she was preggo, I think that she told Jack later that it was his. Maybe when the arcs are closer to being resolved, Katie would tell Jack and Dan would be listening in then too. You're right. I could be wrong.

"they always need the money, and that's what trips them up" was the direct quote, I think.I think that was supposed to be a dead giveaway that he was onto the time travel, and NOT investigating the Dylan McQueen (DB Cooper) hijacking. My guess is that it's "the government is not a party to the time travel" story arc. Elliot said "I had to leave because after 9/11 the government was interested in using it to stop terrorism". That meant to me that he was using a private non-government lab to do his "work". And this storyline backed up that govt. vs scientist angle.He's shot. But I don't think he's dead. And even if he is, there should be another govt agent to pick up where he left off. On a related note, I LOVE that Livia finally confronted Jack. And that Jack is on board now.

I don't know if this is good or bad...they are showing 3 Journeymans in the next 2 weeks (which is not best time bc of holidays)2 more mondays 10th and 17th normal time and then also on Weds 19th at 10 that will be the 13th of 13th ordered and filmed http://www.thefutoncritic.com/guide.aspx?id=strike_scripted On Life last nite (which has been picked up) said at end...Life will return in 2008...we'll see if they say that on 19th...

Lastnight's episode I enjoyed, but for me it didn't answer any of the questions about who, what, when and why.I'm still iffy about Jack's woman somehow being involved in the jumping. I thought and then I didn't think. I want Livia's dress.

Yes, 1940's is where/when she originates. My understanding is she jumped into Dan's time and stayed there for quite awhile (I don't think this was her choosing) and she said (and I paraphrase) "maybe I came to your/Dan's time to create a void that Katie could fill". In other words, maybe Dan was her mission, to get him and Katie together, because 7 months after she "died" Katie took him home from after he went out drinking and gambling and sat with him. They've been together ever since. I'm not sure exactly how long Dan and Livia were actually together. Clear as mud now?

disagree, but I think lastnight's episode proved that I am indeed the winner of our bet. Evidence: Dan's mis-step with the digital camera changed the night they Knew Zack was concieved so Zack was not concieved and instead poor unwanted blonde daughter was born instead of Zack. Conclusion: If Zack were not Dan's he would have been born anyway. You may argue that the digital camera goof could have caused Jack and Katie to not have concieved Zack but I think you would be wrong I enjoyed last night and think next week is going to be even better. If SOMEONE doesn't pick this show back up they're a bunch of morons!

Not on purpose. I just didn't get to see the episode until tonight.I think the evidence is/was still inconclusive. You've got an argument, but I don't think it's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. I am still convinced that he and Katie wouldn't last if the series had continued. That isn't a popular opinion in my home. My Lovely Bride is convinced Dan is a jerk for hugging Livia and wanting to keep travelling. I disagree. I think that the Evan plot is an analogy for Dan's own life. Just as Evan's wife wasn't supposed to be married to the politician in any time line, Dan wasn't supposed to be married to Katie. Katie's own reaction to his time travel and Jack's compliment proved (to me at least) that she is supposed to be with Jack, not Dan. I don't think Livia wants to be married to anyone EXCEPT Dan, either. But what do I know? I'm just a poor slob with XY instead of XX chromosomes.

*sobBest episode of the season/series. Just when we're getting answers the show is killed, grrr. I have come to really like Katie and the way she handled the situation. I think Jack is still in love with her, but she is definitely devoted to Dan. That showed during the last scene. Though Dan kind of pissed me off as he came off as saying "I'm going to continue to trave, take it or leave it". I think the professor could have easily gone either way in the series, good or bad. But why did he know about Dan and not about Livia? The story of the episode was great, I loved how they tied the previous traveler dying to Dan's first jump. I'm going to miss this show.

I haven't seen a definite announcement. But this blog by the creator of Journeyman is as close as I've seen.http://blog.nbc.com/journeyman/ darn shame. This show was the first show my Lovely Bride and I have agreed was worth watching in a LONG time. I didn't like the "final" episode, btw. I will be back later to say exactly why. Loved the show, though.

Hope I'm not beating a dead horse by bringing this topic back up (I was a huge fan of this show, BTW), but I came across part of an interview that Kevin McKidd did recently.It was posted on another message board by someone else, so I don't have the link. Mostly it talked about his new role on Grey's Anatomy, but Journeyman was brought up briefly and this is what was said. -----
'Journeyman' fans were so disappointed the show was cancelled. Can you tell us what would've happened? Kevin Falls told me ... that each episode was a procedural story where would help that person and get them back on track. All those people that he helps ... have to be in that position that Dan gets them into for his son. It's not about Dan. This is about Zack, Dan's son, who has some kind of special power. Whatever it is that's controlling this needs all of these people to be in a certain position or alignment for Zack, when he comes of age, his power erupts ... It was all about getting his son to the place that these people could help him achieve this power and help the world.
-------- Interesting, kind of a pre-Heroes type thing. But if that's the case, what about Liv traveling? Was she part of getting Zach his power, or was she traveling to help someone else gain "powers"? And wasn't there another traveler mentioned at one point?
