Which brings up the question of whether all these double-eliminations were previously scheduled, a desperate attempt to add drama, or the network trying to get this turkey off the air. Before, you could say 'It's a failure compared to what Simon predicted, but it still pulls better numbers than most of what could replace it.' For the first two-thirds of the song, I was trying to decide if there was something wrong with the audio or just with his voice. His performance wasn't even being swallowed by the background music, the stage, or any other element: the sound was just -- dimmed.
