"Cast To Lose: Bachelor(ette) edition."
In your opinion, of the initial twenty-five people each single gets to choose from, how many were specifically chosen by the casting department just to:

1. Get the Epic Fail First Impression on Night #1.
2. Ride through until the moment they have to actually speak.
3. Have a superficial connection to keep them around for a few episodes, but then clash as soon as any digging deeper is done.
4. Fight with everyone around them, with those battles kept secret until the moment a rose has to be denied.
5. Make a supposed strong link, but then depart for whatever reason the soap writers haven't already used.
6. Leave.

It doesn't have to add up to twenty-five. But don't be surprised if it does anyway.

And keep in mind: for next season, they'll feel obligated to go worse than Bentley.

For some reason I keep getting a number higher than 25 .
Or can you only count each bachelor once?

Depends upon the season. Some seasons there are less people who are specifically chosen just to lose, in others there are more. I'd say anywhere around 16-23. This is probably one of those seasons where there are more that were chosen just to lose.

5. "Fun with math."
Let's err on the high end and say there are four contestants who are attracted to Ashley. Now normally, you'd think a typical woman would be able to pick out those who were legitimately physically interested in her. There are cues. There are signals. There is no chance any of that will be picked up by someone who was begging them to bring Bentley back. So all Ashley has here is a straight 16% shot at finding someone who considers her body desirable, because gawds knows she's not going to spot any of the little indicators which would let her think it through.

Now what do we know about those four? We know they find her physically interesting. How do they do for personality compatibility? No one casting the show cares. (In fact, it's a miracle that four people with a physical attraction slipped through.) Do they mesh with her politically? Do their backgrounds share common territory? Is she attracted to any of them? Let's skew the odds on Ashley's favor and say that of those four, one person is not only attracted to her, but has other qualities she'll like and she's attracted to that one in return. (If you've been dating for a while, you know one in four is giving serious benefit of the doubt.)

So that's a 4% chance at some level of happiness, which is roughly in line with the number of stable matches the show has unintentionally made to date. Put it all together and what do we know about Ashley?

We know she probably sent that guy home on Day One.
