"Coalition Question" |
I've never seen any of the Mole seasons until I saw the episode last night. I don't understand the advantage to forming a "coalition" with another player. Is it to share infomation about who might be the Mole?

Yes, coaliions allow the players to gather more information and bounce ideas off of each other. There are advantages and disadvantages to them. It can be helpful to have another pair of eyes helping you to look out for things that might be useful on the quizzes. For example, last night's quiz included a question on whether or not the Mole mentioned having a tattoo at dinner. Well, coalition members can get together and make sure they didn't miss any information on things like that. Is a coalition a good idea? It depends. In Celebrity Mole, Kathy made a coalition right away, and she was able to use the information from that coalition to ultimately win the game. Coalitions can backfire, though. In Mole 2, Heather approached Dorothy late in the game about a coalition. Heather didn't realize at the time that she was the only one who knew that Bill was the Mole...or that she was Dorothy's prime suspect. She ended up giving Dorothy the information she needed to win the game. Snarky, smart, S7 Anti-Bootee Champ

I remember in the first Mole Steven and Jim made a coalition that took them to the end. It helped them because they tried to be split up in each challenge so each of them could bring back info about what happened during each other's challenge. With Celebrity mole there are less players and they are not split up into groups as often. But it still helps as long as you do not pick the mole as your partner.
