"ABC blew it! They completely ruined the best reality show!!"
I have read many posts and know that there are some people that agree with me. I liked the regular cast of Mole much more than the celebrity version. If I had wanted to see celebrities I would have watched them in their respective shows.
It was great getting to know ordinary people from the beginning. And all those exotic locations. I think I liked the fact that many of these "regular" people were able to have a great experience (fine dining.. 5 star hotels) that the stars can have at the drop of a hat! How unfortunate! Then..
they screwed around with the second season.. stopping it halfway (and without letting anyone know why), and lost alot of viewership! All I can say is that they did it to themselves!
I have always wondered if there was something that happened behind the scenes.. (ie. contract dispute.. lawsuit or the like) that prevented them from continuing with a "non-celebrity" cast.
Well.. we will perhaps never know. Anderson (who was the best host ever and made the show what it is) has recently signed on to host his own show so he will be unable to come back. I am sorry.. I dont like Rashad! Anderson captured the essence of the Mole. He was humourous.. yet refined and I had a great time getting to see his personality.. rather that see Rashad lying on a beach. I kept looking for a sports team!
Well.. I have found other reality shows that now have more of my interest. Just wish I could find the first two seasons on DVD so I can remember what the really good show was like!

Actually they did let us know. The ratings were just plain horrible, even for ABC. They didn't lose viewership though because there weren't many people to lose. The ratings were actually a little bit higher on the first celebrity version than the second regular mole.

The reason why the ratings were low on season two, was primarily due to lack of advertising. However, it's hard for ABC to advertise a show on its own network, since they have only a couple shows that can generate a large enough audience to where it would be worth advertising another show.

It's not a new thing for shows to try to bring in celebrities after ratings start to fall. Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Weakest Link along with a number of other game/reality shows have all done it.

T-Mac hits the three! Magic Win! Magic Win!

2. "I love the regular version"
I love the series done with normal people too. I keep hoping if enough people watch the celebrity version they may do another regular version. I like the longer series where they travel around. With the celebrities they have the smaller cast and they stay in one location.

Plus guessing the mole is half the fun. And it is more interesting when you are looking at regular people trying to fool each other. Instead the celebrity version is like actors playing a role. That is what they do.
