"Anderson is out" |
From TV Guide online:"I SPY AN EXIT: The Mole's best kept secret is history: Sexy snarkster Anderson Cooper will not be returning as host of ABC's little reality show that could. According to Variety, CNN — where Cooper is currently employed as an anchor — asked him to choose between his news gig and his reality duties. The Mole is planning two new editions, one featuring celebs and one with civilians. No word on Anderson's replacement, but let's pray it won't be Brian Dunkleman. —" Any replacement speculation? Regis doesn't have a prime time gig anymore and is good with quizzes.

2. "RE: Anderson is out and 3 Celebrities announced" |
Here is an article from RealityNewsOnline.comhttp://www.realitynewsonline.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=1&article=article2339.art&page=1 Fans of ABC’s The Mole were happy to hear that the show would return, in both a celebrity and regular edition. But the question lingered on – who would host? Anderson Cooper, who hosted the first two editions and was an ABC News journalist prior to his Mole duties, left the network and became an anchor for CNN while the second Mole series was on hiatus. Since then, he has become a staple of CNN’s broadcasting. According to the Baseline News wire and Reed Business Information wire, CNN executives asked Cooper to decide if he wanted to continue with The Mole or stay with CNN as a reporter/anchorman. To the certain dismay of many fans, it is reported that on this past Friday, Cooper decided to stick with his news background and turned down The Mole. Therefore, Cooper will not do either the celebrity or "civilian" editions of the show, and fans will miss Cooper's dry wit and charm, which helped the show stand out from many other reality shows. There is no current news yet as to who may replace Cooper, but if we might speculate for a moment, it would not be surprising to see Kathyrn, the series’ first “Mole,” acting in the role of host. After playing that role, she became part of the production team of the second series and even made a brief appearance in one episode. She is familiar with the series (obviously), but does she have the ability to pull it off? More importantly, will ABC accept her as host or will they want somebody more easily recognizable to draw in new viewers? Only time will tell. While the host is unknown, some of the players for the celebrity version are known. According to the wire reports, three “celebrities” have signed up to date: Stephen Baldwin, Victoria's Secret model Federique, and comic Kathy Griffin. We can hope that some more recognizable names join the crew. For all you Anderson Cooper fans out there, isn't it better he stays at CNN? This way you can see him every day as opposed to once a week for a couple of months in the summer. I did like him as host and he will be difficult to replace. "Lemme tell ya something - the day Bucky Katt eats a green Skittle is the day Bucky Katt lost his groove."

6. "Anderson Memories" |
I suggest that as a final tribute to Anderson, we list some of out favourite Anderson memories from the series. I would definately say that my two all time favourites are as follows: 1. Anderson's "happy dance" after tricking the Molerons into believeing that there would still be an exection after Elavia's birbe. 2. Anderson revealing the results of the final quiz of Mole 1- and Jim seemingly clueless that he had won Anyone else have any?? -bert

8. "RE: Anderson Memories" |
My favorite Anderson moments -1. In Mole #1, after listening to the confused discussion between players, Anderson turns to the camera and rolls his eyes. 2. "These hills are a b!tch!" 3. Punching Rob's arm after the magic trick. I'm going to miss you, Anderson. You were witty, sarcastic, snide, adorable - everything I wanted in a reality TV host. Whoever replaces you is going to have some big shoes to fill.
