What the hell was America thinking? Shirin was a useless pile of poop. All I remember about her was screwing over the White Collars for a clue to a hidden immunity idol - THAT CAROLYN ENDED UP FINDING! Shirin is a joke. And undoubtedly she'll end up being exposed for the joke that she is. Also, KIMMI? Her biggest accomplishment was sinking her tribe - both in a food challenge AND in blabbing to the other tribe about Jeff's votes - and the nation gives HER a second chance? Newsflash, Kimmi - I don't eat pork. I don't eat pork because it makes me sick - literally. But if the challenge involves me eating a pound of bacon with a side order of sausage links and washing it down with a ham-and-cheese sandwich, you bet your ass I'm doing it especially if it helps my tribe, sickness be damned. If it's all on you, you can have your ethics until the cows come home, and then when those cows come home, you don't have to eat them. But when it comes to the game of Survivor in the first few rounds, the tribe comes first. Shirin and Kimmi were both HILARIOUS! Humor is what this show needs the most. Shirin being fascinated by monkey porn is much better than anything Carolyn, the gamebot turned goat, did. Likewise, Kimmi's struggles over her ethics and the game's demands were very interesting. You seem to have forgotten that Kimmi actually WON that chalenge for her tribe. I admit Shirin did make me laugh a few times this season...but there's a fine line between laughing WITH someone and laughing AT someone. For all the reasons Colonel stated, my laughter toward Shirin was AT her. In the same vein, any laughter I had pertaining to Dan was always AT the ignorant oaf. Conversely, you laugh WITH people who possess a sense of humor. Now Jenn was definitely someone I laughed WITH. For sheer entertainment value I would have rather seen Jenn come back. But she may have killed her chances with all her talk about packing it in after Hali was voted out. Here was a woman who went from an abusive home life to making her first million by the time she's old enough to run for Congress, and yet she's a total waste on Survivor. Granted, she may be great at what she does - or she may have other great talents or may even be a lovely person to have coffee with - but Survivor is another universe. Just like Shamar in the second Fans vs. Favorites - I'm sure he was a fine Marine, but on Survivor, he was nothing. As for Kimmi...it wasn't just her ethical struggle. It was her colossal stupidity and the fact that she was the reason her tribe was guaranteed to be sunk instead of just a chance of that. (Granted, Jeff ultimately screwed himself, but if Kimmi doesn't blab - and by all accounts, she was the only one who did - then Ogakor still has to roll the dice.) Furthermore, I still can't fathom how a vegetarian can eat a worm but can't eat, for example, Jell-O or whatever it is Kimmi refused to eat. Last time I checked, a worm is an animal. She didn't say it was for the tribe - even in a TEAM challenge, it was all about her. Furthermore, I am well aware that hygiene is poor on the island - but when people complain about a specific person, then there's a problem. Carolyn deserves a second chance because she's a great player. Like I said, she outsmarted two liars on her tribe (I was SURE it was Max and Shirin but it doesn't much matter) and she used her skills to reach the final, where she could have won had it not been for...well, I'll TRY not to go too conspiracy-theory here but suffice it to say I think CBS wanted a blue-collar winner...but let's just say I and much of America would rather see a real player back than a waste of space like Shirin.   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Survivor Second Chances Posting Thread" First, I don't see Carolyn as a great player. Her move against Max was totally unnecessary and done for personal rather than strategic reasons. Her subsequent refusal to play with Shirin showed a complete misunderstanding of the social game aspect. Her move against Tyler was dumb and no one should contest that. Why? Because that's what Mike wanted. Mike was the one they had to eliminate yet they voted the way HE wanted. You can't get dumber than that. If that wasn't enough, Carolyn would have gotten voted out with an idol in pocket if Mike (or Dan by playing his advantage) han't gotten her head back in the game. Like Dabo said, she was, at best, an erratic gamer. As for Shirin and Kimmi, they weren't great players either but they had personality. Both were funny and tried really hard to fit in. You can't beat that for storyline. Going back to the Outback, Kimmi's big mouth wouldn't have cost Kucha if Varner had fought for immunity instead of going for peanut butter. They could have also survived if Lis and Alicia had seen through Jerri and Tina's act during the player exchange. If Varner had won immunity, Kucha as a whole was immune. If Kucha had realized that Tina and Jerri weren't together then they would have voted against Jerri instead of Colby. So, I never blamed it all on Kimmi. Carolyn revealed that she wasn't allowed to campaign for a spot on Second Chances while she was still in the running for Sole Survivor. Half of the voting took place before she made her big move to use the HII to save herself and boot Dan. I've said it elsewhere and will say so again here - the Second Chances voting process was unfair to both herself and Mike as they couldn't campaign and people would think that if either of them said anything to the public, the public would think they didn't win. And... Smelli? They all stink after a few days on the show. She'll be great with 14 years to reflect on what she could have done on Survivor and a few years of maturity. And, before you argue that the zeros killed Carolyn, look at what we got here: 3 2 4 0 0 1 1 4 5 You know who had that pattern. Despite it, Joe was a lock. Those two zeros certainly didn't hurt him. The S32 voting started just when Carolyn's edit picked up so that didn't hurt her. We certainly did hear about "Mama C. before Final Tribal. The players started calling her that right after the merger. Carolyn was too boring to make it back despite the superb platform of being on TV while the voting took place. "RE: you are wrong" I admire your devotion to what can be called a lost cause but you are making the assumption that a campaign would have gotten Carolyn on the cast. We have no idea about the numbers, whether she was even close or if she was dead last. We have no idea how many votes could have changed. It's never easy to get survivor fans to change opinion and some campaign wind up LOSING votes! Also, the voting started on May 6 which was the day of episode 12, the episode where Carolyn emerged as the erratic gamer that got many fans on her side. She had given 5 confessionals in that episode so it was fresh in the viewers' mind. That was followed by a 6 confessional episode and a strong first hour Finale when the voting was still going. I think the editors did a very good job of showing Carolyn's every move and they nicely highlighted her challenge wins. What she lacked was a personal story and I don't think that was the editors' fault really. The players have said that she was pretty cold out there, not at all like a mom. The most important personal interaction she had was when she pushed Shirin away the day after Max's elimination. Even when she talked to Tyler it was all business. I think showing more of Carolyn would have hurt her! She was pretty much the same as Sophie in So Pathetic: Distant and not too interested in sharing with the others.
