"Lvoe List 26.8"
If this season has an underlying theme, it is that those who can't control their emotions will be ruled by them. And perhaps doomed as well. Brandon blowing up in camp was a most dramatic demonstration of this, produced by Phillip's intentionally emotional button-pushing game play.

01. Cochran (01). Cochran is in a surpringly good position in the game this time, he was even able to indulge in an emotional display of a victory dance after winning II with all the others cheering him on, even Malcolm couldn't begrudge the guy over his near photo finish win. Early on Cochran decided to just be amused and entertained by Phillip while keeping his head in the game. His likeability could win it for him in the end.

02. Andrea (04). Andrea has had a sweet ride so far, keeps on the lookout as she is aware it is a game that they are all playing, and has managed to stay on friendly terms with everyone despite Phillip's attempts to control the game BR style. Her likeability could win it for her in the end.

03. Malcolm (02). He has kept his head in the game as well, and recognizes that other players can be controlled because of their emotions. Though his power play failed this episode and he lost a valuable ally, as long as he's still in it he'll keep trying to play sharp and put it together.

04. Dawn (03). The Mom of the tribe is in a very good position in the game right now and if she could control her emotions a bit more that would be nice. But in an odd way her emotional nervousness (let's call it) is working for her as the other players are concerned for her, not concerned about her game. She does have her head in the game, though, and not only is not repeating the mistakes of her past, she's using the information that flows her way with deadly effectiveness.

05. Sherri (08). Mz Management had a pretty good game going then it stalled out at the tribal swap. But she waited things out and has now reached the merge and is getting her game running again. Though she dislikes Phillip she recognized this was for her game an opportunity, one she did not pass up. I suspect what she disliked most about Phillip was his management style, and really what's not to dislike about it.

06. Erik (07). Though he hated Phillip's bullying early on, once it became clear there was nothing he could do about it he set it aside, deciding instead to enjoy the ride as much as possible, get all the treats he could. And the other players ignore him because they think he has no interest in the game. Found himself as the deciding vote this time, though, and probably put it together that voting for Sherri could put TC into an insoluable tie then going to the dreaded purple rock, which would be good only for Cochran (II), Corinne (votee), Sherri (votee), and anyone playing an HII to cover themselves. Sorry, Corinne, but it didn't make sense for him to vote for Sherri.

07. Michael (06). Not in a good place in the game but seems to be having a good time.

08. Reynold (10). Giving him a bump because his ability to get it wrong is kind of funny. Ruled by his hatred for Sherri, which is not a game strategy. It is just resentment that he holds it against her that his Cool Kids alliance didn't succeed.

09. Eddie (11). Being Reynold's wingman and also hating on Sherri, knows nothing about adapting his game.

10. Brenda (07). So far under the radar she gone subterranian.

11. Phillip (12). Petty, self-centered, I could go on and on. Fortunately we got mostly a big break from the Phillip Show this week, which according to many around the internet this was the best episode of the season. Phillip's chances of winning Fan Favorite are the same as his chances of winning the game, he has no chance.

Good-bye, Corinne (05). While I didn't want to see her go because she's good TV, she was her own worst enemy this week. Her hatred of Phillip must have wiped out whatever good game sense she had.

Hummmm. There are certainly some things we didn't see the same way!

1) Cochran: This was his best episode. The pip-squeak dancing like Muhammad Ali after his win. He was in on every important conversation and started to worry as soon as Corinne insisted on Sherri but still needed Dawn's warning.

2) Dawn: Apparently, Dawn is breaking down out there but the edit shows her being able to keep it together. I don't know if she fooled Corinne into thinking they were close or if they were really that close but she reacted quickly when Corinne presented her power-play. That move was threatening her own game so turning on Corinne was effective self-defense.

3) Andrea: She should have been worried as soon as Corinne proposed voting out anyone else than Reynold or Eddie but she got a break that Corinne and Malcolm played it like idiots.

4) Phillip: His alliance did come through for him! On the one hand, Corinne said she was worried about being the first boot but then she destroyed her game because of her hate for the guy that got her in the alliance. He may be dumb but he completely outwitted her.

5) Brenda: She is invisible which is unfortunate but she is proving to be a dependable ally. That alone should get her a nice check.

I really don't know how to rank the rest because they're all idiots.

6) Erik: He used his job experience in this episode: A customer points to a flavor of ice cream and he scoops it up, no questions asked.

7) Sherri: She was ready to carry Shamar, her own Phillip, for 39 days but she couldn't stand the real Phillip even if he was giving her a ticket to a bigger check. I think she likes it only when she's the boss.

8) Michael: It seems that dropping his long time ally meant nothing to him. Did he even tell Corinne that he could get Sherri on their side? He played scared. Loser.

9) Malcolm: Sharp? He played very emotionally and his anxiety killed him. His need to make a big move when a big move wasn't necessary led to numerous mistakes. He was completely wrong about Erik. He let his game in Corinne's hands. He forgot that his alliance had two idols. The move was easy: Let Phillip vote against Reynold and Eddie then tell Reynold to play his idol. No need to count on Erik, no need to add Dawn to the deal, no worries about a blindside.

10) Reynold: "Delusionally optimistic" is one way to describe him but this guy never obviously heard of the expression "fool me once..." He's been fooled on every vote up to now!!!!

11) Eddie: I think this guy has room to rent upstairs.

Booted - Corinne: She made even more mistakes than Malcolm: She never talked to Erik even if she counted on him. She didn't use Michael's connection with Sherri. She didn't let Phillip hand her the game over when he told her to split the votes. He was giving her the game and she said No!!!!! She completely misread Dawn. She saved Michael only by destroying her own game. Good job there Corinne.

As for Malcolm, his emotional motivator is hope, which is not a bad thing in and of itself. He did some of the work he needed to do getting Eddie and Reynold to be his followers. Ignoring Erik was a mistake, because Erik isn't motivated by hatred of Phillip or anything negative. Erik is trying to do the most basic thing in Survivor, whatever's best for Erik. And who knew Corinne would turn out to be her own worst enemy and do herself in?

Semantics perhaps, but I wouldn't say Phillip's alliance came through for him. They came together to be on the side of the numbers, each for him or her self.

I agree that Sherri likes being the boss, it is what she is accustomed to being. Has nothing to do with how she felt about how Phillip treated her, her reaction to Phillip is exactly the same as how other's have reacted to him. Where she goes with it should be interesting.

(What is particularly funny, Sherri's vote turned out to be irrelevant to the outcome. Phillip dealing with Sherri that way was another completely unnecessary thing that Phillip decided to do.)

Hope was Eddie's girlfriend and Reynold's unreachable star! Malcolm had it in the bag.

Had he let things play out, Reynold, Eddie, Michael and Corinne would have all left before him. He'd be down to Final 8 with only Erik as challenge threat and he'd have an idol. Phillip could be a target then and Malcolm could have aligned with Brenda, Erik and Sherri to get him.

Or, if he couldn't contain his anxiety, he had to get Reynold to save himself with his idol. Get Phillip out right there, pagong Stealth R US including Erik and Brenda and just like that, he's in a F5 with Reynold, Eddie, Corinne and Michael.

Instead? He's dead.

LAST EDITED ON 04-08-13 AT 08:24 PM (EST)

He was moving slowly and carefully, not anxiously. You're forgetting that Sherri was supposed to be the unanimous boot (Phillip was in no danger this time), and Corinne was Malcolm's Phillip. If Corinne hadn't destroyed her own game Malcolm's stealth musclehead alliance would be in a good position this week to put Malcolm in control.
