Brownroach 14241 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Playboy Centerfold" 09-29-04, 10:02 AM (EST) "New message notification" I must have accidentally checked the box that says "check here if you want to be notified of new messages in this thread" when making a post on Spoilers, as I am getting email messages now every time someone posts to the thread. Is there a way to deactivate this? I tried editing on my posts to uncheck the box, but the box shows up unchecked when I open the post, so I've no idea how to turn it off. "RE: New message notification" Sorry, roach- There is, unfortunately, no way to turn off the new message notification. The good news is that most threads die after a week or two, so the e-mail deluge should stop on it's own soon enough. As an aside, one of the first ever "monster threads" here on this board went to over 1000 posts in a single thread. One of the board members had checked the new message notification box! The barrage of e-mails not only filled up that member's inbox, but nearly brought our e-mail server to its knees (of course that was years ago, before we had the great high-speed servers that we have now!)
