One morning, as I often do
I sat and watched the sunrise.
It fortifies me you see, and
allows me, for one brief moment
to gaze into the eyes of the one-
and I know he is there
propelling me with something
that not many understand
but smile at.But this morning, I watched
from a different viewpoint.
It teaches me you see, to
look beyond the one moment
beyond the gaze of the one-
Into the true measure of life
rewarding me with something
I sometimes neglect
and shouldn’t. This morning, as I rarely do
I sat and watched the sunrise
touch a rosebud, and I saw
it open--one brief moment
one petal at a time, and I
was suddenly reminded
of the petals in my own life
Satisfying me with the knowledge
that so many times
they open and I miss it. This morning, as I sometimes do
I write, and forget the sunrise
and focus on the bloom.
To try and share the blessings
and explain the love I feel
for so many who touch me.
As each petal reopens, and lays
gently upon the other
I see truth, and friendship,
power, and understanding.
And say thank you.
