LAST EDITED ON 12-09-13 AT 10:30 PM (EST) Oh, Japan I have kinda mixed feeling on the Japan leg. While I really love seeing them visit Japan, the show seems to be obsessed with highlighting the wacky angle of Japanese culture, so you never really see much earnestness in these episodes. I guess doing the wacky Japanese game shows is good TV, I suppose, but they really love going back to that well. Finale Results 1st place - Jason/Amy (2x) 2nd place - Tim/Marie (1.3x) 3rd place - Travis/Nicole (.7x) 4th place - Leo/Jamal (0x) The Elite 8 Even in this final week, we managed to have no one knocked out of the game! Truly this final group of players are our Elite Eight. Good job you guys! The correct answer to the bonus game was Tim/Marie, being one of the first words out of Tim's mouth. Although, honestly, maybe he should've said $400K instead... This week's Greatest Gainer Award goes to bbenzenberg, who climbed 2 ranks. Very nicely done, sir. The Perfect Bet Award also goes to bbenzenberg (2.35x), making a really great Jason/Amy wager with a correct bonus bet. It's hard to get more perfect than that. Here are the final results. Who will take away the championship? (highlight to read) Leaderboard 1. Yogi - 4000 2. louislam - 3060 3. Ontheroadagain - 1840 4. Belle Book - 1584 5. bbenzenberg - 1220 6. beau_30 - 882 7. sarah1234 - 608 8. kduck - 4 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In the end, it was Yogi who crossed the finish line first, becoming the TAR23 Casino Game Champion, with louislam finishing with the silver medal, and Ontheroadagain grabbing the bronze. This was a pretty interesting season overall, in terms of how it shook out. The early weeks were a bit of a Wild West, with a different leader every single week: taffnic, then bbenzenberg, then sarah1234, then Jims02. Then, the Booster bonus game kicked in and the Week 6 Apocalypse happened. Two things happened, about half of the field got knocked out, and louislam jumped into the top of the leaderboard. louislam sat atop of the leaderboard for the following 4 weeks, while both Yogi and Ontheroadagain hung in there around the Top 5. In fact, both Yogi and Ontheroadagain managed a Top 10 finish every single week, which is very impressive. One of the biggest moves happened last week, however, when Yogi made a daring 4x mega-bet on Jason/Amy, vaulting him into the lead the final week. An All-In wager on Jason/Amy in this final week sealed the victory for him. Honestly, though, like I said before about the "Elite 8"... This was such a volatile season, that just making it to the finish means you played a great game. Congrats to everyone! Congratulation, Yogi, you are the first 3 time champion of the TAR Casino Game and are once again in the Hall of Fame! See You For All-Stars! As always, I want to thank everyone for participating in this game, making for yet another fun season of gaming. I admit, after being knocked out in Week 7, watching the final few weeks didn't pack as much punch, without having a real rooting interest. After so many years of playing, you get accustomed to playing Fantasy TAR Games in the background. Next season will be another All-Stars game, so we will reconvene in the winter and get back to it. In the meantime, go make snow forts or something. Have a great holiday season!
