I guess it works for me personally, since I was in Washington D.C. last weekend (watching a very high-scoring Redskins-Bears game), but it's still no good for our purposes.

Treading Water
As with every other year, any TBC episode's bets are thrown out and we will pretend like last week's entry never happened. We will, however, proceed to adding the new season gimmick for the season.

Introducing: The Payout Booster!
So, everyone knows that the 1st place payout is always 2x in a given week. Well, how would you like the chance to increase that payout?
This season, players will have the choice to increase the 1st place payout by up to 2x more (for a maximum of 4x).
However, this increase will not come for free. For every amount that you increase the 1st place payout, you will decrease the bottom ranks by that same amount. So what you're essentially doing is moving payout points away from the bottom of the table and moving it to the top.
For example, here's the payout table for Week 5.

1st place - 2x
2nd place - 1.8x
3rd place - 1.6x
4th place - 1.2x
5th place - .8x
6th place - .4x
7th place - .2x
8th place - 0x
Max Individual Bet - 25 points
So if you choose to boost 1st place, I'll start taking out payout points from 7th place... Followed by 6th place if that runs multiplier points, followed by 5th, and so on.
For example, if you decided to only boost by .1x, the minimum amount, your payout table would look like this:

8th place - 0x
And if you decided to boost up the whole 2x amount, it would look like this:

1st place - 4.0x
2nd place - 1.8x
3rd place - 1.6x
4th place - .6x
5th place - 0x

8th place - 0x
(You'd take .2x away from 7th, .4x away from 6th, .8x from 5th, and .6x away from 4th = 2.0x total.)
So, as you can see, using the Booster to its full effect can start making the bottom half of the table look extremely scary! Obviously, you won't have anything to worry about if your picks still place well... But if they have a bad week, it could spell trouble. So be very careful!
Just make sure you indicate what your Booster is for the week, if you want to use it. Just say "Booster: 2x" or whatever next to your picks... You don't have to post your updated Payout Table, though, I'll just handle that. Your booster amount should be in increments of .1x as well.
The Booster bonus will end in the penultimate week of the game. For the finale, we will go back to a No Limit, 2x payout table game, like usual.
