Making Fire
...Is not so easy!
Taking one look at those Detour options, I would've had the exact same reaction as Pam & Winnie. I've watched enough Survivor to know that making fire by hand like that is extremely challenging. So I would've wanted nothing to do with that option. Big props for the hockey dudes for sticking with it, and knocking it out like a champ.

The Bubble
With half of the wagers on the 1st place team (Bates/Anthony) and the other half on the last place (Max/Katie), this was an extremely volatile week. We saw a lot of scores really shoot into the stratosphere, and a few of them get halved (or worse). To make matters worse, Max/Katie were a fairly popular team to borrow points for. So any 50 point loan on them, put a player at -60 immediately after the interest.
The somewhat surprising PAT finish by Joey/Meghan didn't help either. There were a few players who got the PAT correct, though.
Max/Katie's flame-out unfortunately knocked 3 players out of the game, michel, Georjanna, and ARNutz... The loans did 'em in. You gotta admire the spirit to swing for the fences, though... Those loans just take one bad week to knock out the whole bank.
Thanks for playing, you guys. Have a complimentary cocktail, on me!
The Greatest Gainer Award goes to IanQuentin, who climbed a ridiculous 17 ranks to inside the Top 10 this week. IanQuentin was in the Bottom 5 of the rankings last week, proving how one big swing can really change things this season. Yogi, Java, and taffnic, also had excellent weeks, climbing 12 ranks each.
The Perfect Bet Award also goes to IanQuentin who snagged a 3.6x payout without even betting on Bates/Anthony this week. He got the PAT bonus, and then borrowed on Pam/Winnie. Nice job!

pepperz has leaped over the whole top tier and have decisively snagged the 1st place position, thanks to a smart Bates/Anthony and correct PAT wager. And, to think, it was done without borrowing a single point.
Things may have flip-flopped a little in the scores, but the TAR credit card makes a big comeback more possible. Just be careful, everyone!

After such a rocky week on loans, we're going back to 10% interest, to encourage more borrowing. Just call me Jims Bernanke.
Bonus Game - Playing It Straight
In this game, players can make a side-bet on three TAR teams, in an attempt to make a three-team straight. In poker, a straight consists of five cards in ascending/descending order (like 9-8-7-6-5). However, in the TAR Casino Game, a straight is a set of three teams who finished back-to-back-to-back in the rankings.
For example, in last week's results:
Pam/Winnie, Chuck/Wynona, and Joey/Meghan would make a straight, since they placed all in a row (2nd/3rd/4th). Same with Joey/Meghan, Caroline/Jennifer, and Mona/Beth (4th/5th/6th).
So, there's going to be more than one correct answer. It doesn't even matter what your intent was with the bet. In your head, you could pick your teams thinking they'd be 7th/6th/5th and they could end up finishing 2nd/3rd/4th... And you'd still win! The only thing I care about is whether the 3 teams finish back-to-back-to-back.
Straight Bonus Game
3-Team Straight - 7x
No Straight - 0x
Maximum Bet - 12 points
You may only make one bonus wager, and the limit is 12 points on that wager. A successful bonus wager will have two components, 1) the amount you're betting, and 2) the three teams you're picking for the straight.
A sample bonus entry could look like:
Bonus - 12 points
Bates/Anthony, Chuck/Wynona, Caroline/Jennifer
And that's all there is to it! Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll take a look.

Good luck!

Max/Katie are terrible. So unreliable to do anything.
