It's often major tasks or directions that sink people, but it's rare to think of something so harmless-looking as a major obstacle. Either way, it's not my place to judge Mika's fear about it, as different people are scared of different things. It's a tough way to lose, to be sure. Week 5 Results 1st place - Meghan/Cheyne (2x) 2nd place - Maria/Tiffany (1.9x) 3rd place - Sam/Dan (1.2x) 4th place - Brian/Ericka (.8x) 5th place - Gary/Matt (.7x) 6th place - FlightTime/BigEasy (.4x) 7th place - Mika/Canaan (0x) Ouch. The loan game always tends to be a big test for players, causing huge swings of points for many people. This season was certainly no exception. Many Meghan/Cheyne wagers worked out pretty well as they raced to another 1st place finish. The big disappointment was definitely Flight Time & Big Easy's 6th place (.4x) finish. Because of the bonus game, we had several people bust out of the game, MzTee, Element King, popeave, Wallflower66, 5cats, and IanQuentin. Thanks for playing, all of you. This post is a guide for the person who wins the Bonus Game this week. Think of it as a weekly reference guide. The rules will change throughout the season as the game gets a little looser.
After the new episode airs, I'll post the correct answer in this thread, identify the winner, and send a private message to that individual. The winner has until the following Tuesday night (midnight) to contact me with their Payout Table for the following week. They can either post it in this thread or send me a private message if they want to be secretive.
If the winner doesn't contact me with their Payout Table by Tuesday night, I will create the next Payout Table instead.
Payout Table Rules
(These may change throughout the season when we get farther into the game.)
1. Your Table must have a ranking for all the potential rankings of the teams. Use the format that I use.
1st place -
2nd place -
3rd place -
4th place -
5th place -
(This is assuming they eliminate a team on Sunday. If they don't, add 6th place on there.)
2. 1st place must be 2x and last place must be 0x.
3. The payout multipliers must decrease as you go down the rankings list.
Therefore, you can't do something like...
1st place - 2x
2nd place - 1.8x
3rd place - .3x
4th place - 1.2x
That would be pretty mean if you did do that anyway. We'll save that scenario for potentially later in the season.
4. The sum of the multipliers must equal the number of rankings. If there's 5 teams left next week, the multipliers have to add up to 5. If there's still 6, they have to add to 6.
1st place - 2x
2nd place - 1.5x
3rd place - 1x
4th place - .5x
5th place - 0x
2 + 1.5 + 1 + .5 = 5
Think of it as the good payouts balancing out the bad payouts.
5. No negative multiplier numbers. Man, why would you do that to a person?
6. Round each decimal to the tenths-point. No 1.24235245x payouts. 1.2x will do just fine, thank you.
If you follow these rules, your Payout Table will be accepted. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I meant to reply to this earlier, but didn't get back from work until now.
When I originally posted that "No team may be used 3 times in your statements" I implied that 4 times or more would also be prohibited. One could make the argument that one could still see three "poker" picks in the group (plus one more). It's my fault, though, as I should've been more careful with my verbiage, as technically I didn't say anything about 4 or 5.
4nikk8, while I appreciate that you take the time to help me out with this kind of stuff, calling people out as "CHEATER!" isn't the way to go about it. My rule was unintentionally vague, so people are naturally going to interpret it in different ways. Is it a loophole? I guess. But I didn't make it completely clear at the time. Now that I've clarified what my intent was with the rule, both players will know exactly what I meant.
esquire and Belle Book, please update your bonus wagers appropriately. I apologize for any confusion I have created. It's completely my fault.

My sincerest apologies. Like so many contestants on TAR, I did not fully and clearly read the intructions for the bonus game and it is entirely my fault for screwing this up. For whatever reason, (such as a sudden inability to read), I did not realize that there were any limits on the number of times you could reference any specific team. I neither selected every team once not limited my picking to any specific team to less than 3 times. I was not looking for a loop hole and picking one team four times instead of three. I am willing to take whatever penalty you think is fair as game administrator.
Having said that, screaming cheater at someone playing a game for fun about TAR seems a bit much.

I'm passing on the bonus because I'm pretty annoyed at it right now. I am seriously never doing this bonus ever again. Even after clarifying and updating the rules in the original post, it's still impossible to sort apart the rules. What a nightmare of an idea.

Is it the wording I used in my clarification that is throwing people off? Because I clearly state in my rules now that teams can't be used 3 times either. I was merely saying earlier that one could make the argument with their 4-duplicate bets that they also include 3 duplicates, which is also prohibited.
