He's been running around spying with a Tony Vlachos-esque joie de vivre. He loves busting out tasty air guitar licks on a machete. And he performs awesome tai chi on the beach. Nicholas "Sifu" Alsup has appeared to be a ball of positive energy on Survivor 45, even if he has not been able to form a single ally in the process. But in a new exclusive deleted scene from this week's episode, Sifu reveals how he found peace after a painful past, and how that peace is keeping him centered in the game.
"I feel like there's a lot of nervous tension with everybody around me and being out here," Sifu says in the deleted scene, which also features footage of him doing tai chi in front of a gorgeous sunrise and can be seen above. "There's a wall you hit, but it's not impossible to break past this wall."

Sifu then explains how he broke through that aforementioned wall. "When I was younger, I was adopted because my biological mother couldn't get off of her addiction and had to give me up."
It was an act that impacted the player greatly. "Growing up, I had a big resentment for that," the 30-year-old gym owner says. "And then my tai chi brought me back on track. And so I look at the meditation and Tai Chi as a replenisher. It's restoring that inner Sifu that has the fire, and so every time I breathe, I'm enjoying the sensation of breathing. From there, it sparks to more. I'm alive, and I'm enjoying that sensation of being here and being present. Just allowing all that to surge through me gives me that resurrection that I need."
