"How will the show do?"
Just for fun, let's play a speculation game we can only really play once during the season. You've seen the first show, now...

1. What kind of overnight numbers do you think the show will get (if not numbers, then - amazing, surprisingly good, very solid, ok, not very good, bad, XFL-like)?

2. How do you think the show will do in the long run?
1. It will Bette - ratings will just flat out blow.
2. It will XFL - people will check it, out then flee in droves.
3. It will Mole - kind of a low level hit.
4. It will Temptation Island - pretty good demographic addition to Fox.
5. It will Survivor - solid debut, builds buzz over the season and becomes huge.

My guesses: 1. very solid, and 2. 4.

Your guesses?

I don't think I'll even give it a Bette rating, I think it will be a boring Big Brother

I'm betting on this show to be at least as popular as Temptation Island, and maybe even more so. Basically, it comes down to two reasons:

1. They did a good job casting the "recruits". It's definitely a mixed bag, and we should expect some (reletively) memorable moments in the debut season.

2. I've been through real basic training, and if things hold true, you'll see the cast members start to crack. Part of a DI's job is to break you down and build you back up to be better than when you started. The problem is, some people don't bounce back so well, and with the added incentive of the final cash prize, I expect some very heated moments on the show.

....and don't think for a moment that the DI's aren't aware of Meyer's little game. Their going to be on his a$$ until he gets discharged...

I think it will get better. Like other reality shows we don't really get to know all the contestants in the first episode, peoples personaliites will begin to come forward. I Love the added dynamic of the DI's , they have to be viewing tape, they know who the schemers and the cheaters are, the know whose butt to ride. I think they will find interesting ways to point out weaknesses to the other players.
I don't think this will get Suvivor ratings, but I think it's a hit for FOX.

Well, the answer to question 1 is in, anyway... (pinched from inside.com):

RATINGS BULLETIN: Big Night for Two Network Premieres
Fox's Boot Camp reality show and ABC's Damon Wayans comedy, My Wife & Kids, both open big.

...At 9 p.m., Boot Camp won its hour in metered market households, finishing just 6 percent below the January-February average of Temptation Island in that same time period.

According to averages from Nielsen's 49 metered markets, Boot Camp posted a 10.8 rating, 16 share, good enough to solidly defeat the hour's second-place result from NBC's rerun of The West Wing (9.7/15 in metered market households). Boot Camp's margin of victory is sure to balloon in key young-adult demographics, which Nielsen is scheduled to report later this morning.

Boot Camp numbers are likely to slip in future weeks, as premiere hype wears off and West Wing returns to first-run episodes. But so far, those who tuned in seem to be relatively pleased with what they found, since last night's overnight rating grew by 4 percent in the show's second half hour compared with its first (to an 11.0/16 from a 10.6/16).

Nice. Plenty more screaming headed our way. Time for a spoiler board to pop up....
