"What's the deal with the V. Brothers?"
Sorry that I get them mixed up, and there is also spoiler info in here, so don't read any further if you didn't see last night's epi.

What was the deal when their group won the Restaurant Wars-called by the judges, the BEST of all seasons-and one of the bro's got the top honors, and was given the $10K that would have been the other group's. When he received this $10K, he offered to share it with his team, but his 'other' brother got all smirky, pouty, and irritable, and told him to keep it.

What is the deal with that? Anyone understand what is the real underlying competition that is going on with these two?

I think it's a HUGE mistake to have relatives on a reality show to begin with. I know stuff happens, ie Robb and Amber, but to start out with this whole DNA Dynasty, and to let it keep simmering...it's really getting ugly. And I am not liking either of them.

Sadly, I see them both crashing and burning on the other's success. Which, will turn in to them both being eliminated before their times. Either of them has the whatfor to win, but with these attitudes? I pick Robin. And THAT is really bad!!!

I too can't tell them apart! Guess if I tried.....
Thought it funny that the viewer vote question had to do with which one was the best chef; and wondered how many people would actually vote LOL

Much sibling rivalry - too much; but Bravo knew it would be good for drama so...

Tho I don't think Robin is Top Chef material, I was glad she asserted herself on her dessert; and that she was on the winning team. That said, I would get as annoyed with her as all of them are getting

Jen has a real downer disposition.

Kevin is the best there.

Well, I guess I can tell them apart pretty easily, but I'm a mom of twins, so I look for little differences. Mike has tats, his ears stick out more and his eyes are wider set. Bryan's voice is deeper. Hope that helps.

Bryan is definitely more calm, but no less intense, and I think, from what the editors have shown us, that it must be a goal of Michael's to see how often he can get Bryan to snap. Kind of like how people do all kinds of mean things to the guards at Buckingham palace to see if they can get them to move/react. So when Bryan says in his interview that he is sick of his brother's bad behavior being rewarded, that's the crack in the facade. That's why he doesn't want the money. In the heat and stress of the competition, I think he's having trouble separating Michael's behavior towards him from his behavior with everyone else.

That being said, Michael is definitely walking a thin line between arrogant and assertive. Chef Tom sees nothing wrong with Michael's curt demeanor, and when you look at the difference in the execution of the two teams, it seems to be the difference. It certainly wasn't talent, although no chef on team Kev/Jen had the confidence to try a dessert.

But this is all just my opinion based on what the editors show us. I could be completely wrong.

The only real issue I've had with them on the show is that they're simply too much alike. They cook in the same style, their personalities are fairly similar, they do look alike...It's pretty much having the same contestant twice.

I can see the similarities, but even though the style is similar, the finished product is not. Michael's plates are very modern, Bryan's style seems to be a little more transitional.

Well, they're brothers. I see so much of my own two brothers in these guys, it's uncanny. They can be best friends and worst enemies all at the same time.

I think the story goes that Bryan got into food and cooking first, right? And he's followed a hardworking, traditional path in his career, training and working in the same restaurant for a long time, right?

Then Mike waltzes along and decides to give cooking a whirl, too, and he hops around, does his own thing, doesn't follow a traditional path, and uh oh, he's getting more accolades for his work than Bryan.

Bryan is the older of the two, right?

Yep. That's why Bryan didn't want the money. He is frustrated that he feels like he's doing everything "right" but Mike keeps winning.
