According to SurvivorNews.net, the answer is yes! Apparently Alex was one of the final 48 auditioned for Survivor 4, but he seemed "too gay" and was dropped in favor of openly-gay candidate John Carroll! http://www.survivornews.net/article.php?id=74

I thought I'd already read this in a TVGuide.com or Zap2It.com article last week or so... it was something about a comment that he desperately wanted to be on a reality TV show -- and after washing out on Survivor someone he knew suggested he try out for Bachelor.
