"Dangerkitty's Cornertime with Kismet"
Posted by Kismet on 08-02-01 at 11:35 AM

Dangerkitty's Cornertime

<As the theme music starts to play we see the main entrance into Cornertime. The camera scrolls down and we see a newly installed cat door. The camera then focuses on Kismet who opens the main door and enters into the main floor. She begins heading to the far corner and speaking into the camera.>

Hello again ladies and gentlemen, and I thank you for joining us. Today we have a cornertime with Dangerkitty. Dk has been a poster of note for quite some time. Although she claims to have never gone to charm school, her posts do not reflect that. She is the most charismatic cat I have ever met. Dk can always be counted on for comic relief and straightforward opinions. She is also a talented writer and we should count ouselves lucky that she is part of this community.

<The camera moves away from Kismet and we get a view of Dk's corner. It is a cat paradise. There is a huge scratching post set unto the wall and several play towers covered in carpet have been erected. Catnip mice, yarn balls, twisty ties, and milk container seals litter the floor. Dk is curled up in the corner and when she hears Kismet speaking, she yawns and stretches. Then she jumps quickly onto the newly upholstered pedestal in the center of the room. Her timer reads 52:47:12.>

Thank you for the interview Dk, do you know why you are here?

I'm not sure, but I do get my share of grief for not being in the bar or posting enough sometimes. I notice the remarks in posts (coughGTcough) and from bar patrons (coughKismetcough). So I guess it's a good thing, maybe some people miss me and they are trying to pin me down? It must be that, because I haven't offended or hurt anyone!

<Dk looks innocent, and Kismet rolls her eyes.>

Innocent huh? I don't think anyone here would believe that. You are going to be in this corner until you leave for vacation. You will not be able to leave until ten minutes before it is time for you to leave. We tried to give you everything that a cat could wish for, but you have to do the interview. Now, tell us how you found this little playland.

Survivor 2 was the first reality show I ever watched - well, it still is the only one. I didn't even watch S1, although by now I feel as though I did. Anyway, I immediately got hooked on S2 and craved discussion about it. I searched the internet, found SS of course and winced at their "Go Away" banner and some of the "attitudes", but read awhile there anyway. One day I couldn't get onto the boards (the now infamous crash), and in my new addictive frenzy searched until I found SB, and here I stayed. Read quite a while before I registered and posted (on Spoilers), then found Bashers and loooooved that, and finally found my way to the wonderland that is Off Topic. I was welcomed so warmly on Bashers and OT, and there were so many great and funny posts, I just never left!

And it's a good thing you did Dk! Who are your most beloved posters and why?

<Dk looks off into the distance as if she cannot hear the question, as cats are wont to do when they are being disobedient. Kismet grabs DK by the scruff and tries to force her mouth to form words, much in the way that you would try to give a cat a pill. Fur flies, much yowling and hissing is heard, and when the dust settles Kismet and DK, hair and fur mussed, are no further along.>

You force me into this. Name your favorites or else no more of that special "catnip blend" that you like so much in the bar! And, you can forget about the chocolate bathtub!

<Dangerkitty starts to waver.>

AND I will cause you to be portrayed as the "Jerri Manthey" of Blowsvivor!! Mwaahahahahahahahaaa!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! <Cyber-bitch-slaps the stratching post Jerri, just for good measure.> OK, OK, you broke me, I'll try!! So many are special to me, and I honestly could list almost everyone. You don't need each of your names here to know that. (right? right?) I'll just list a few women and a few men: Vamps, EBug, Kismet, ItzLisa, Outfrontgirl, with a shout-out to all my bar girls, yo hotties! And Surv, Pepe, ICB, GG, and of course my bar boys <prances about and rubs up against legs> Dang it, now I'm feeling bad because maybe I should have listed everybody...hey is that chocolate?

<DK perks up. Kismet looks triumphant because she knows cat's are notoriously hard to train. She decides to press her luck.>

You like the flirty image.. Who is the best person to flirt with around here, in your opinion?

I do? Well, I hardly compare to the serious flirts around this place! <Kismet snickers and mumbles 'yeah right!' DK bats her eyes.> hehe I said "bats" <waves at Vampy>. It's hard <hehe> to pick just one, each fellow has his own style and appeal. SherpaDave is always up <hehe> for the game and he did give me my special little collar <dingdingding!>.; Jizzy is very attentive, <leg rubs>; Pepe is tres charming and of course, my hero <ooh la la!>; GG makes me feel special <whisperwhisper>; and of course, Monkeyboy is always ready <hehe> with my bowl of milk <laplaplap>. *sigh* Do I have to stop now? *sigh* <does just a bit of her trademark stretching routine> Purrrrs to all of you!

So why did you choose the name Dangerkitty?

When I first saw the Discover Card commercial featuring the fictitious band Dangerkitty, I just got such a kick out of the name. When I made the big leap to register at SB, that was the first thing that popped into my mind. And I am totally a cat lover, so having a cat name is very appropriate and fun.

How do you differ from your BV persona? Do you like the way you were portrayed?

I have been fine with my character in every episode - well, not so much in Ep 2, since the writer basically forgot that I was in the cast.<Dk pouts attractively.> I get a kick out of the "flirt" image, although that really isn't how I am IRL <preens> and my, Episode 9 really did take me over the top! <Dk arches her back> I do like getting a lot of attention, so it's ok with me.

<Dk begins works her scratching post>

You always seem to be in sync with everyone. Why do you think that you relate so well to everyone?

Aw, that's so sweet! But there are certainly plenty of nice people here who get along with everyone. I think my sense of humor fits in well with this group. That is such a huge piece for me in enjoying others. When you can make me laugh, and I can make you laugh, things are going to be pretty swell. And boy, do we hit that sweet spot a lot on this board and chat! Also, while I am an opinionated person and like to speak my mind, I also truly accept that everyone is different - in fact, I like that everyone is different! And I really don't like to argue - I won't back down from it, but I try to chose my fights wisely and sparingly. -Excuse me, but I never got to eat that chocolate, may I?

Yes, of course..

<DK busts open her Chocolate Orange as Kismet snickers.>

Honestly, I am constantly amazed and impressed by this group - the intelligence, the humor, the passion, the experience, the warmth and caring - I sincerely admire and respect everyone, and I hope it shows.

<DK begins grooming her nose frantically.>

How has being a part of the SB community affected your life in a positive way?

This is my first experience with a message board and chatroom, and I had no idea that it could be like this. I have this special, fun group of friends, in a different context than ever before, and I love it. Also, the writing aspect of it, whether for posts or the stories, has been a very positive thing for me. Writing has been something that I love but have neglected, and the opportunity to express myself here has become a really awesome addition to my life.

Would you tell us more about your Real Life Dk?

I have been married almost four years to my absolutely wonderful hubby, who adores me! We have been together for a total of over nine years, including a year of "just friends" first. We met at our martial arts school - I broke my toe on his knee early on in our friendship. He now has a second degree black belt in that art (Kenpo Jujitsu - same one as my black belt) and another black belt in Ninjitsu at his current dojo. We have two adored cats, the 17-year-old has been with me for 16 years, and the "baby" is 8. I am so lucky that my hubby loves our cats, and all cats, as much as I do.

Back up the truck there Dk! You broke your toe on your husbands knee?

It was Friday night at the dojo, the day before my 31st birthday. Some of us would show up on Fridays and just have a fun, loose workout. We decided to spar - I was new to Kenpo, and Fritz was the best fighter in the school. I was determined to get a kick in to his groin, and of course he blocked me with his big bony knee. Ouch!!! My first broken toe - I didn't even know it was broken until the next day in Tai Chi class, when others who knew better saw it. (This after I had shoved it into my gym shoes that morning for my workout). That damn toe is still deformed!

So you really could kick some butt if you wanted to?<Kismet jots that down in her notebook.> What was your
motivation for learning Martial arts?

I actually started with Tai Chi. After seeing a demo in college I kept saying to myself, "Someday I am going to learn Tai Chi!". Ten years later, I finally sought out a school. This was still before it was well- known, there were only a couple of places that taught it then. I was intrigued by the karate that was going on there, too, and many of the guys were encouraging me to join in (imagine that! *wink*). So after a year of just Tai Chi, I started Kenpo and got addicted right away. At the time, I was still in my high-stress corporate job, and training was a great way to get out of the office on time and focus entirely on something else. And it was such a great group of people at the school, including my sensei (who was also my gym workout partner).

You are the board masseuse. How did you get into that profession and why?

I was in mortgage banking for ten years after I graduated college (with a degree in Political Science, go figure). It was great for most of the time, but eventually I realized that I didn't want to still be doing that in another ten years. I can't really put my finger on why, but I decided to go to massage school and see what happened. I actually quit my well-paying job to do this (although I ended up staying on part-time for a year while I went to school). It really is one of those cases where fate was looking out from me, I truly believe that. Massage turned out to be a calling for me, and it has led me into learning many other things. I am a licensed Holistic Health Practitioner, I also teach Yoga and Chi Kung, do a little personal training, and I'm a personal coach. I love my work and have great clients - one of them will be 96 years old in August! I also work with her daughter and granddaughter. Many of my clients have been with me for a long time, and I consider them friends as well.

You are truly amazing Dk. Is there anything else that we should know about you?

Just that all of you here have become part of my life. It is amazing to have this diverse group, all ages, from all over the US and Canada, and we have truly formed a community. SB rocks!!

Thank you for the interview. I will leave you alone to nap. This concludes this episode of Cornertime.
