"Best show on television" |
Just had to put in here that as a reality t.v. fan since the summer when they were casting for the first season of Survivor, I've actually been totally won over by this show. I've watched the last two summers, and although it's the same format as Idol,it is just SO SUPERIOR its not even worth a comparison. First, the contestants on this show seem to really care, and be really sincere. I don't know why the singing contestants don't come off that way, but it is incredibly refreshing to watch kids who want to learn and to be better. Second, kudos to the editors. When we see bad dancers on this show, it's the exception and not the rule that we get attitude. I love it when you see a kid who was arrogant going in, but recognizes during the audition that they didn't make it, and they are okay with that. Idol is filled with the horrible and yet still cocky; this show is filled with the okay, yet willing to take criticism. Most refreshing. Third, I LOVE the way the kids who are naturally great, but don't have training, get to audition, and some get to go forward; but that the ones who don't, want to go home and learn! It's awesome! I love this show! I can't wait to see who makes the finals. All the kids profiled deserve it, and I can't wait to see how the ones who make it progress through the season. This is the only show that makes me cry or get teary with emotion on a regular basis, it's the only show that I really care about the people contending, and that's why I say it's the best show on t.v. Who is this editor, and why aren't they using him/her on American Idol or Top Chef? Why don't most of the people producing these shows realize that we'd rather see the best rise to the top than the drama? That said, can't wait to see what happens tomorrow night~!

It does seem hard to believe it is from the same people that produce Idol.I do think the fact that mediocre dancers rarely become insanely rich and famous because they have a good stylist that makes them look really cute and there is enough studio magic to make them seem much better than they are does seem to change the attitudes of the people auditioning. It does seem that the dance community has a different culture to it and I think that does effect what the people who audition are like. I like how they cheer for each other during auditions and really seem to appreciate both seeing someone who does a particularly interesting move and those that just have an infectious joy about their dancing. I don't know how much is editing vs how much is the type of people who show up, but you would think Idol could focus on people more like this and get a different population of contestants. Dancing with the Tribe!
