Simon thinks he is the standard to which all judges should hold themselves. And he thinks Americans in general just have no standards. Unable to stretch himself into AGT when he started it, he brought Piers over to be the designated Simon. After the first season they encountered a problem. Brandy and Regis left the show. The problem, then, was basically how to make The Hoff seem like a really nice guy. So Simon brought in ballbuster Sharon and Jerry from the freak show. One bad decision leads to another leads to another leads to another. Last year it went to the dogs. Fortunately, the Sharon vacuum this year allowed for glam casting and more diversity of accents. Yeah, the Spice Girls sold lots of records, but she was one of five of them and the group broke up in 1999. Her accent is mushier and much more difficult to understand than other British judges like Sharon and Piers. So far she hasn't had much of consequence to say.
