Mondo's discussion of the inspiration behind his fabric was a great moment. It wasn't until he identified that those were plus-signs in his fabric because he is HIV-positive that I realized he was going to win over April, though -- I really liked her look.Andy's outfit was just ugly and far and away the worst. But I was sure Valerie was going home, for week-in, week-out weakness. Rachel Roy was one of the best guest judges in recent history on the show. I had no idea she used to be married to the late Yinka Dare, so maybe that made her more tolerant of mediocrity, but she wasn't one of the Heidi-like clueless guest judges; instead, her comments were both pointed and helpful.

According to the end-of-show preview, the cheating claim shows up next week, after Heidi visits the workroom with Tim.

I wish I could have liked Mondo's design a little more. To be honest, I thought it wasn't very good. The pants looked uncomfortably high and the scarf shirt thing didn't match too well in my opinion. I would have voted for April (sidebar - I'm hoping there is a challenge coming up that forces April to use some color, the constant use of black is depressing). What are the rules about the judging? Don't they have to judge each challenge without considering the past ones? Andy was the worst by far. I would really hate to see him make Fashion Week - I know I'm in the minority about Andy but I think his future is as a costume designer not a high fashion designer. I almost softened up to Gretchen this week, I felt empathy with her family situation but by the end of the episode her superior attitude was back. I also liked Christopher more this week, I've mostly just been ignoring him but the scenes with his boyfriend were sweet. I wish he would step it up with his designs - they are mostly forgettable as Nina pointed out. I did think his construction and fabric was better than Gretchen's similar look this week but it seems the judges just refuse to think badly about Gretchen. Has Michael C just run out of ideas? He seems to be slipping and that last dress just looked weird. Capn2patch put me in motion!

Last night Mondo hosted his usual Thursday night viewing party along with a fundraiser. Here's the link:http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_16209285 I thought about going but didn't, and when I watched the episode I was glad I hadn't. I can't imagine having such an intimate vulnerable moment revealed in public. He must have already told family and friends of his HIV status and I'm sure the audience was touched and supportive, but wow! I loved Valerie's comments to each designer after her elimination. It was also very touching.
It's a Tribe!
