"Crappy finale"
that was the most anti-climactic pile of crappola and I am pissed that I invested so much time into the show. I think she ended up with the wrong two candidates. But forget the candidates, what was with the absolute BORE that the finale was tonight? Jeez take a lesson from the Trumpster.

Jeez take a lesson from the Trumpster.

It took Trump 4 times to finally have a finale that was not a complete embarrassment.

How pre-taped was the ending scene with the car!? I wouldn't watch now anyway, even if her butt wasn't cancelled. They need to give us a LITTLE credit for intelligence.

Didja notice how little time Martha spent broadcasting live? I think someone on the production team was worried about a disaster -- especially when you also consider how little time the contestants were given to speak.

I'll give her this much credit and no more: at least there was no recap. Beyond that, R.I.A. Rest In Agony.

5. "RE: Crappy finale"

Agree with you.

This ending was horrible. Martha didn't even say the hiring part right and was cut-off in mid-sentence.

Really horrible.

Then there was the Randal-like moment when Martha & Co. interrupted Dawna as she was being congratulated. Flashbacks and cold sweats immediately ensued. I tell you I was all prepared for Martha asking Dawna if she would mind if she hired Jim as co-Apprenti.

Liked the makeover they gave Dawna. She actually looked better. The makeover they did on Bethenny was funny. It was like they said to her, "The executives at Matha Stewart COVER themselves, you natural foods harlot!"

She should have flashed her hinny. As long as she lost, she should have made it memorable.

I agree: WORST finale ever. I could barely make it through the entire show, but since I had invested a crappy season's worth of viewing, I wanted to know who won. By the way, did anyone notice how Alexis shamelessly plugged her radio show in her monotone voice? I highly doubt that "Grand Finale" will boost her ratings because her plug "just didn't fit in."

Yeah, I agree that it was REALLY bad. And how bland is Martha Stewart?? She never has anything to say, never gives any advice. She really doesn't give a damn about anyone and it shows. At times I even wonder how she got this far with her boring personality.

Also, hubby and I were both cringing when she asked Dawna how she thinks she can work on her managerial skills in the position. We were both like, duh, it's her "CREATIVE" skills that she has to work on, not her managerial skills!

Did anyone notice how they all got a glass of champagne, but didn't toast or even drink it? And then it was the end. Geez, watching the finale was as much fun as watching paint dry. *snooz*

>I agree: WORST finale ever.

I'll toast to that! Oh, wait! I have to pretend to drive my new car when the segment has already been taped!

>I could barely make it through the entire show, but since I had invested a crappy season's worth of viewing, I wanted to know who won.

Felt much the same way. Gotta see it through. Especially since Martha gave one candidate a tongue lashing on being a quitter! I swear I'll never do it again, mom!

>By the way, did anyone notice how Alexis shamelessly plugged her radio show in her monotone voice? I highly doubt that "Grand Finale" will boost her ratings because her plug "just didn't fit in."

Yeah, I like Alexis, but she does a radio show? Can imagine the listeners getting a little catnap during the hour.

>Yeah, I agree that it was
>REALLY bad. And how
>bland is Martha Stewart??

Well, the thing is I like Martha Stewart and watch her show quite a bit. And she's NOT bland. I think Mark Burnett & Co. were trying to make her that way to change her image. Liked when Martha pointed out the lady at Liz Clairborne was MUCH tougher than she is.

Hey, you know people are going to think what they want anyway. And being a woman in the business world, if you don't behave like a mom in being nurturing and wonderful and even-tempered, you're called a b!tch! No in-between. Saint or sinner. Madonna or whore. That simple. But they bent over backwards to show that Martha is a sweetie. I imagine she is sometimes. Then other times she's not just like everybody else in the world.

>She never has anything to

Wish everyone had watched her show yesterday instead of this stupid finale. She had the guy from Desperate Housewives on. I swear they were so funny together and she was getting the biggest kick out of his off-color remarks.

She's at her best with someone like that so she actually should have hired Jim. He would have brought that side out of her.

>Also, hubby and I were both

Funny! It was a "duh" moment, wasn't it? Or is there such a school turning someone dull into someone duller?

Make more lists, Dawna!!!! They make fascinating TV!

Yeah, she was making Bloody Mary's on her show with the Desperate Housewives guy. Scouring the audience for "virgins." Had Leslie and Marcella cracking up.

Wish she had been allowed to show her personality more. Like I said, no matter what you do some people are just not going to like you.

Come on, Martha! Loosen up! Hire Jim and Bethenny and go into a screaming fit! Oh, go ahead!

I agree: WORST finale ever.

I'd rank this finale better than 2 or 3 of Trump's if only because it was shorter.

Yeah, I like Alexis, but she does a radio show? Can imagine the listeners getting a little catnap during the hour.

I listened to her show yesterday for the first time to see if she was as boring on there and was surprised. The show is far from a catnap. She ripped on everyone. She couldn't stand most of the contestants and they all hate her because of the nasty things she has said about them on her show. She hates Mark Burnett's crew, hates the people at Sirius and said the people at NBC were ticked off at her for plugging her radio show. Her show is called "whatever" and that's her attitude about anything people say about her.

She said she hated working on the show because it was boring and she had to stand around too much. She wasn't paid a dime to be on there, so she feels she can complain about it all she wants.

Dawna and Bethenny were on the show and Bethenny brought up Martha's comment about the inappropriate people cast for the show. Bethenny wondered why Martha was complaining about them since she picked them. Alexis said Martha did not pick the people. She also did not pick the tasks or the rewards. Sarcastically Alexis said it was the wonderful Mark Burnett that did all of that. All Martha got were bios of those picked and Alexis agreed with Martha that many of them were inappropriate and should never have been on the show.

A caller said they were sorry there wasn't going to be a season 2 of the show. Alexis said Martha does not have the need to be on TV all the time like Trump. She has her daytime show and enough other things to keep her busy.

Alexis was also very supportive of her mother. From listening to the show I feel Alexis would be perfect for these message boards. She has that snarky attitude we all love. Also I feel Martha can keep promoting her nice, sweet image, while Alexis has the role of saying all the nasty things her mother would really love to say in public.

Yeah, I heard momma Martha talking about this on her show yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard about the context of it.

I wonder though why Martha would sign on for something she had no control over? I guess it bothers me a little that someone in her position would sign away the rights to pick candidates. Maybe she trusted Burnett? BIG MISTAKE!!!! Obviously he's going to pick people for the drama and not the skills. Just look at the finalists for proof of this!

Well, then she can imagine how we peons feel everyday when we report to work then can't she, the poor darling?

Oh, but then we are paid a dime for it.

Well, you can read my above comment. Seems I'm thinking along the same lines as Bethenny. Why the heck is she complaining?

I am curious as to what Alexis had to say about them though.

Yes, Alexis seems to be that one loyal person in Martha's life. I love that about her. Everyone should have at least one person that perpetually is in their corner.

The funny thing is ... funny as in ironic ... if someone like Alexis showed up at the Martha Stewart Omnimedia company, she would in all likelihood be turned down for a job. She's a very dark presence in a way and doesn't seem to fit in at all with the rest of the executives. Plus the fact she would be even more alienated from the style of the company if she weren't Martha Stewart's daughter.

You'd think Martha would learn through her own daughter and very loyal friend, that intelligent, capable people come in all sorts of packages.

I wonder though why Martha would sign on for something she had no control over?

I thought it was said all along that Martha signed on for the show to get publicity, positive I assume, after all the bad publicity she received with the trial and prison time. She probably did trust Burnett possibly because of their relationship and his success with Survivor and Apprentice. Didn't they always refer to each other at the beginning as "good friend"? Also because of the house arrest she knew her involvement in the show would be limited and I'm sure Burnett was more than willing to control everything himself.

You'd think Martha would learn through her own daughter and very loyal friend, that intelligent, capable people come in all sorts of packages.

I'm sure Martha already knows this. She tries to show the public that nice, sweet, comfortable homey personality of hers. She's tough and she can take care of herself, but she always does it with a smile. That is the image projected to the general public and Dawna fits that image. In a normal interview process Bethenny possibly would have been hired over Dawna, but this was a public hiring and, as Martha would say, Bethenny didn't fit in.

Also during the radio show Bethenny was asked how she would feel about moving to Boston. Her answer was that she would have said no thanks. There was no way she was moving to Boston. Throughout the interview I thought she sounded bitter about not being hired. Dawna on the other hand, thought the job, Boston, the new car, the other candidates and everything else was just wonderful.

Actually, in a real world interview process, Dawna, a UCLA MBA with management consulting and business start-up experience, would be hired over Bethenny, a cook with no substantive business experience, in a second.

Come on, I am sure NBC was just happy to be done with the show. The show had already been cancelled....reason for it being only an hour...compared to the longer Trump version. They just wanted to get the ending out there and I give NBC credit for at least airing the rest of the season. I remember watching My Fat Obnoxious Boss and being disappointed that the plug was pulled midway through and the rest of the season never aired on tv. I bet if the show was doing well in the rating the finale would've been comparable to Trumps.
