Can someone box two weeks in a row? There's an unfair advantage to the choosing team if they can. It takes time to recover from a match -- healing the injuries, just for starters -- and we don't know the time scale the show was operating on. If it's one match every three days, it's asking a lot of a boxer to go twice in a row -- and his opponents are going to know that, and pick him as an easy target.

Which would be exactly why you would want to make sure your team wins the challenges. It seem's fair to me for the winning team to have an advantage of somesort, kind of like how after you lose a round in aprentice you are outnumbered now.

Even so, it's an individual goal masquerading as a team sport, so I can see an Apprentice-style exemption sneaking in here. 'As the winning fighter from last week, should your team lose the next challenge, you cannot be called to the line.'

That sounds sensible to me, under this idea would the winning team be able to send their own person in two times in a row if they wanted?

"Should your team lose you can not be challenged, but should your team win you can still challenge an oponnent, if you so decide." type of idea.

There are eight first-round bouts, and I believe that everyone has to fight once in the first round. Thus, Alfonso shouldn't be able to fight again until Episode 9. Nothing like a nice layoff. Otherwise, you could have a boxer who didn't fight until the semifinals!

The five-round bouts are deliberately short so that the boxers don't suffer too much damage. Nevertheless, they have to have a little time to heal between fights.

The format has to change (e.g., Estee's immunity) when we enter the second round, because it wouldn't be fair to let a winning team in Episode 9 pick the boxer who won in Episode 8 for an opponent (presuming that that boxer is on the other team).

6. "reshuffle?"
you think there will be a reshuffling of teams - or a merge and switch to individual competition - after a few weeks? if everyone fights once, it can technically go through the 8 eps without the need, but if one team gets totally decimated, the team competitions are going to get tougher and tougher to pull off, and some of the drama in the callout will diminish.

From Burnett's viewpoint, he'd love to see the teams remain East v. West for as long as possible. We'll just have to see how long that is.

You must have read my mind. I was watching the replay on CNBC and I was just thinking that. I didn't hear Sly mention anything about not fighting twice weeks in a row. That is an unfair advantage for the winning team. All the more reason to win the challenges I guess.

Don't be jealous because I've been talking to hot chicks online for like 4 hours.

7. "Fight dating"
Because these fights are licensed by the California Boxing Commission, all data about them must be released by state law -- though it won't come out until after the fight is shown, per a pre-show agreement.

Fight 1, Gomez v. Manfredo, was held on 8-18. All three judges scored the bout for Gomez, but the round scores were surprising: 3-2 (yep), 4-1 (OK) and 5-0 (huh??? Did you see Round 2, judge?).

We'll see on what date the second fight takes place. I'll post it here when it's released.
