34. "RE: Post-draft analysis?" |
LAST EDITED ON 09-06-11 AT 10:49 PM (EST)I'm a bit happier with my OT Rocks team than my Politically Correct team so far, but it should be interesting. Both teams are really different with the OT Rocks team currently only carrying one QB (Brady) with Politically Incorrect carrying three (P.Manning/Bradford/Sanchez). I feel I got better value out of my first two picks in Politically Incorrect (C.Johnson 4th, L.Fitzgerald 21st), so it kind of evens out. I was also surprised Jimmy Graham, a really buzzy player lately, fell to the middle of Round 8 in that draft. EDIT: Since Pepe posted his whole team, and I'm a sheep... OT Rocks QB - T.Brady RB - R.Rice, K.Moreno, T.Hightower, F.Jackson, R.Williams WR - G.Jennings, W.Welker, M.Thomas, P.Burress, A.Green TE - B.Pettigrew, C.Cooley K - R.Succop DEF - San Diego, Detroit Politically Incorrect QB - P.Manning, S.Bradford, M.Sanchez RB - C.Johnson, A.Bradshaw, R.Grant, J.Ringer WR - L.Fitzgerald, M.Manningham, C.Ochocinco, L.Evans, M.Sims-Walker TE - J.Graham K - N.Folk DEF - San Francisco, New Orleans I'm going to be watching a lot of Patriots games this year...

35. "RE: Post-draft analysis?" |
Let's see what I got from my four FF leagues:Non-OT league 10 teams, live auction, 3WR/2RB/Flex QB - Tom Brady, Matt Ryan RB - Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, Knowshon Moreno, Mark Ingram WR - Roddy White, Mario Manningham, Kenny Britt, Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice TE - Jason Witten, Kellen Winslow DEF - Pittsburgh, Baltimore K - none, will drop either Winslow or Baltimore DEF to get one. Analysis: Made out like a bandit big time in this auction. It was my first auction draft, but I lucked out on a piece of strategy. Picked up Foster, Charles, White and Witten early on, then watched as some heavy-duty competition between live people and two autodrafts drove up the price on QBs and WRs, so I realized after a while that I was better off sitting back and letting others deplete their budgets -- I went from being the first to get 4 players and drop below $100 to being the last guy to get a 5th player and having considerably more money than anybody else, so I was able to pick off a lot of good players still in the auction that others were too cash-strapped to get -- for example, Rodgers/Brees/Vick/Rivers/Romo/Schaub all went between $35 to $50, while I was able to get Brady for a mere $20 and Ryan for only $7. Most of my late picks came because guys put up someone for $1, and I won with a bid of $2 or $3 because others couldn't go more than that. Politically Incorrect OT - Vince3 Memorial League 12 teams, live draft, 2WR/2RB/Flex
QB - Matt Schaub, Ryan Fitzpatrick RB - LeSean McCoy, Felix Jones, Pierre Thomas, Ryan Torain WR - Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin, Julio Jones, Plaxico Burress TE - Antonio Gates, Greg Olsen DEF - NY Giants, Kansas City K - Nate Kaeding, Rob Bironas Analysis: Ugly draft for me. Got some decent players but not the depth I wanted at all. I had to leave early as my daughter called and asked to be picked up from work a hour early, so I was stuck with the computer autodrafting a bum QB, an extra TE, an extra DEF, and an extra K ... all of which I didn't want, despite my attempting to load up with WRs and RBs on my queue! *kicks puter* But it's my loss for not thinking I'd need to bother with pre-ranking players as I had expected to be there for the whole draft. Ah well, I'm going to be setting up a tent outside the waiver wires for the first few weeks, hoping to snag that sleeper that wakes up. That RB depth chart on my team scares me big time, *gulp*. OT Rocks! 2011 league 12 teams, live draft, 2RB/2WR/Flex
QB - Aaron Rodgers, Matt Cassel RB - Ahmad Bradshaw, Jahvid Best, Ryan Mathews, Reggie Bush, James Starks, Jerome Harrison WR - Larry Fitzgerald, Marques Colston, Malcom Floyd, Mike Sims-Walker, Nate Burleson TE - Jason Witten DEF - Kansas City K - Robbie Gould Analysis: Boom or bust draft. I don't think I did too badly for a 11th draft position, did what I had to do in going QB-WR with my first two picks instead of a RB. Hopefully the RBs won't hurt me too much and the WRs + Rodgers pick up the difference. Think I'll do OK here. Football 2011 (Naked's league) 12 teams, live draft, 3WR/2RB
QB - Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler RB - Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore, Fred Jackson, Jonathan Stewart, James Starks, Marion Barber WR - Mike Wallace, Stevie Johnson, Mike Thomas, James Jones TE - Owen Daniels DEF - NY Giants K - Nate Kaeding Analysis: Happy with this draft. Will probably drop Barber for an extra WR seeing that I only have 4 WRs in a league that starts 3 WRs. Someone drafted both Brees and Rivers, but is very thin at RB, so I might have to give up somebody like Gore to pull Rivers out, so perhaps could do a Rivers + a WR for Gore and Cutler deal.

I played in a six man league last year, and it was a free for all... I was hoping for a ten man league this year, but had my settings set wrong and didn't realize it until 11 had joined. I think it is going to be a challenge...I got QB Tony Romo, Josh Freeman RB Michael Turner, Stephan Jackson, Tim Hightower, and Tashard Choice WR Dez Bryant, Santonio Holmes, Chad Ochocinco, Mike Simms-Walker, Hines Ward, Roy Williams TE Mercedes Lewis I am pretty happy with this... I think Freeman is going to be a top 5 fantasy QB this year... VOTE NAKED 2004

43. "Two very different drafts" |
LAST EDITED ON 09-07-11 AT 02:33 PM (EST)OT Politically Incorrect: Draft position #5 This is the draft that got the league's Yahoo Best Draft award. Picking fifth allowed a lot of flexibility without too much time between picks, so I focused on value picks while building up each piece of the roster, RB and WR layer by layer, and ending with two valuable handcuffs. QB: Brady RB: Rice, Moreno, F.Jackson, R.Bush, D.Murray (Dal), D.Karim (Jac) WR: Jennings, Colston, M.Thomas, L.Moore, B.Edwards, A.Brown (Pit) TE: Clark Def: SD Chargers K: Vinatieri Very solid in all positions with plenty of RB/WR depth. This is probably one of the best drafts I've ever done, acquiring most of the players past their ADP. With good in-season management, this team has very solid FF playoff chances. Grade: A- Naked's league: Draft position #11 Picking 11th at the bottom of the order made this draft difficult, particularly given the way QB's went flying off the board early and quality WR's becoming scarce after round 4. I stuck with the value pick strategy, realizing by round 2 and 4 that I'd end up getting QB's late. As such, I acquired A.Gates past my targeted DP. The early to late mid-rounds were RB paradise, able to acquire these well past their ADP, while I also acquired the 2 QB's in the middle rounds of the draft. QB: Sam Bradford, Kevin Kolb WR: C.Johnson, D.Jackson, P.Harvin, A. Brown RB: McCoy, Moreno, Ingram, Benson, D.Murray, D.Karim TE: Gates Def: NE Patriots K: Henery This is the first team I've played with two quarterbacks outside the top 10 QB's (in a 12-team league, this will happen to at least 2-3 teams). Having said that, their schedules and matchups mesh really nicely, so together they're as good as QB's at the lower tier of the top 10 QB's. The WR corps is stellar, but thin with most of the WR's taken early. The RB corps is solid and deep, probably a bit too deep, but taken on the cheap with trade potential. Gates is a team anchor at TE and both the Def and K are quality picks taken very late. This team will need a little more work than the other draft above, but I'm not disappointed with it. Projected scores have this team well within the top half of the league and with good in-season management, it has solid playoff potential. Grade: B-
