For me, her not being able to come up with something shows arrogance which I can't stand. I don't like anyone being arrogant and especially in business. There has to be something good about Shawn or he wouldn't have a company employing 600 employees. Whether it be that he surrounds him with people capable of doing the job or he is the driving force...either way, he is successful. So, there has to be something nice to say.

I flipped the channel to TAR and I missed how it happened but I do know that Shawn was picked and then told to make a decision on whether to increase his winnings and he was debating on whether to do it or not. I didn't see any more.

In the previews at the beginning of the show you can see Shawn's ring on the hand of the person accepting the prize. I sat there and said they gave it away. Shawn wins. So the whole 2 hrs was pretty anti-climatic. They could have easily done this show in an hour. They didn't need 2 hrs. It seemed so dragged out. I was bored. I didn't care enough about either to care about them. But it was funny to see Heather complaining at the end that she didn't win anything.

I must say that this was one of the most satisfying finale's that I have seen in a RTV show. There WERE actual twists and turns, there WAS drama (after the editing it was hard to see how Shawn won), you finally DID care what happened and about the people involved. I was so glad to see Shawn get rewarded for turning down the coin flip, he did the right thing and didn't get punished for it. Not to mention that his reaction was priceless.As for him picking Gabe, that was my only disappointment. After Gabe turned his back on him twice, it made no sense for Shawn to reward him for his disloyalty. He should have picked Sarah - unless he was 'told' they had something else in mind for her - or Heather or even Candida. I was floored by the Gabe pick. This whole show was a sequence of lost potential. If it would have succeeded, it was solely on the stength and character of Branson. I know that it's just TV but he came across as a truly genuine and good person. His attitude about the contestants and treating everyone with respect is something that the Donald could definitely learn from. The problems with this show have been discussed and documented here before, but this really could be a GREAT show with a couple of little tweaks - especially in the areas of editing and the challenges. All in all, I'm glad I watched. If nothing else, it's made cq, swami and I closer.

Only problem is that this seems like a one-time deal type thing. Because Branson is a human as opposed to the Donald who is a machine, I can see him giving control of one venture to someone but going through all of this again for the sake of tv or popularity just doesnt seem to be his style. He looked totally anguished over the decisions he had to make in eliminating people and that definitely brought something special to the show that none of the others have.

I liked the show and way better than Trump's. Thank you for the fun reviews. Like another posted it did have real twists turns in the end. Branson was great and what I think made me want to watch since hey there is a real person that is nice with all that money too, good for him.

The strong point on this series was Branson himself. He was a nice guy. Unlike Trump whose arrogance knows no bounds. And Branson has been in a long and happy marriage. Unlike Trump who has to switch trophy wives whenever he needs more publicity. Can you imagine if Trump had decorated that island? It would have been covered in gold and tacky, tacky, tacky.

Just one note on the ratings -- Rebel's ratings were just about as bad as those for Fox's canceled Boss' series (Boss averaged 4.04 million viewers while Rebel averaged 4.23 million -- ranking 110th and 113th in the season-to-date viewership rankings), but I strongly suspect the reason that one show was canceled and the other was allowed to serve up its entire eleven episode run was because Branson's show was basically a paid weekly infommercial for everything ranging from Virgin's soon-to-launch stateside domestic airline to the upcoming Virgin Galactic, to existing things like Virgin Wireless, Virgin Megastores, etc. Frankly, I doubt Fox paid much money for the series and might even still have profitted on it despite the pitiful ratings -- the whole idea for the series had it's origins in Virgin's marketing group as basically the ultimate Virgin publicity stunt. Bunim-Murray wasn't even invloved in the show when the concept was first annoucned -- initially they were planning to handle the whole thing (gulp) inhouse with basically freelance reality TV talent that they'd hired. In the end I agree the show proved to be surprisingly entertaining and pretty well produced -- but I think it's continued broadcast was more likely to have to do with some contractual obligation on Fox's part than it was to have anything to do with Fox's belief in the show. -SB

Okay, I watched the first hour I taped but then I had to research the rest and here is what I assume occurred:1. After the "interrogation" came the assignment of two players to make the ultimate decision. Sean chose that two faced loony laureate and Sarah chose Gabe. 2. They reached an ultimate standoff... shock!!! Which put the decision in Branson's hands, where it ultimately should have been but the exercise in circle jerking had to be done to extend this show further than necessary. 3. Richard chose Mormon boy...and what were his reasons? This has not been explained to me although I knew he had the winner's edit..which means in normal world the negative edit. 4. He then got a million dollars and the opt to pick door number 2 or 3 if he flipped a coin to risk it. So now we have added Monty Hall to the already burgeoning series with another unnecessary hoop to jump 5. Sean elected to stay with door number one which was the right decision and he wins the ultimate prize in reality tv history which was actually 6 months as an ASSISTANT to Branson and he could pick someone to be his assistant... and they win the ultimate assistant's assistant prize in reality tv history. 6. He chose Gabe (although why as he said in the first hour he was BETRAYED by him) and Sarah gets 750K to start a foundation for women. 7. If he makes the six months getting the coffee and running the hoover he gets to be a "VP" at another one of Richard's less signficant companies for a year. Does Gabe get this promotion too? Wow just wow. I said this show sufferred from an identity crisis and clearly it continued to add more to the pot even as it died a slow and painful death. I love Branson he has all the charisma, charm, concern and capability that his majesty the Donald lacks. Just being in Sir Branson's aura would be enough and just the experience of hanging with him and doing adventures should have been sufficient. The whole idea of a "job" I think is what seemed unnecessary and added on to give what was the ultimate travel reality show some type of gravitas. Now that I know Bunim Murray sort of leant their name to the production it does explain the disjointed effect that the series had. You just sensed a lot of hands in the pie. Sometimes things are better left alone and this show tanked as a result. Too bad because Branson is by far more real than Trump could ever be and everyone and anyone in their right mind would jump from a balloon to work with him.
